Chapter 10 Interviewer, Huo Jing

Chapter 10 Interviewer, Huo Jing

The cooperation was reached, and under Ruan Yao's insistence, Lin Weiwei finally had no choice but to accept the card.

After discussing the details of exchanging information, Ruan Yao got up and left to prepare for her interview at Lexing Island.

She picked up her bag, took two steps, then seemed to suddenly remember something, paused, and turned around.

"By the way, Sister Weiwei," she asked casually, "you're from Jiangcheng, right?"

Lin Weiwei was taken aback for a moment, then nodded and said, "Yes, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing," Ruan Yao reminded her. "I just saw on the news a few days ago that there's been a lot of rain there recently, and it seems to be quite serious."

Lin Weiwei's expression relaxed. "Yeah, it's like this every summer. I'm used to it."

“I heard from experts on the news that this year’s rainfall is heavier than usual, and the geology in some mountainous areas of Jiangcheng is not very stable, so there may be a risk of landslides.” Ruan Yao looked into her eyes, her tone full of concern, “Is your home… close to the mountains?”

Lin Weiwei's expression changed slightly.

Ruan Yao seemed oblivious and continued, "I remember you mentioned to my mother that Auntie's health hasn't been very good, has it? She also has trouble walking. Take the money you just gave her and let her find a safe hotel in the city for a few days, or stay with relatives for a while. It'll be more reassuring once the rainstorm passes."

She paused, making her reminder even more explicit.

"If something really happens, it's too dangerous to live at the foot of the mountain."

In her past life, Ruan Yao remembered that around this time, Lin Weiwei took leave and went back to her hometown.

The reason was that a landslide destroyed her old house. Her mother, who had difficulty walking, was unable to escape and was paralyzed from the waist down, which was a great blow to Lin Weiwei.

Seeing that Lin Weiwei's expression changed, Ruan Yao knew that her words had worked.

She said no more, waved to Lin Weiwei, and turned to leave.

After Ruan Yao left, Lin Weiwei held the bank card, walked out of the coffee shop, and headed towards the company.

Her mind was a mess, filled with what Ruan Yao had just said.

Her hometown is at the foot of the mountain.

My mother has arthritis, and her legs become weak and her movements become slow when it rains.

If something really goes wrong...

Lin Weiwei dared not think any further, only feeling a cold sweat break out on her back.

She had been so focused on work that she had completely ignored the weather news from her hometown.

Lin Weiwei looked down at the bank card in her hand and suddenly felt that this card was a timely help.

Without further hesitation, she found her mother's phone number in her contacts and dialed it.

Three days after Ruan Yao submitted her resume, she received a reply from Lexing Island.

The HR department of Lexing Island sent me an interview notice. The interview time is 10:00 AM the day after tomorrow.

During dinner, Ruan Yao told her family about it.

"An interview?" Su Wanqing stopped picking up food, her face showing undisguised worry.

"Are you really going to work outside? It's so far, won't it be too tiring? Isn't it good to stay at your own company?"

"Mom, I'll give it a try," Ruan Yao reassured her.

Ruan Minghui adjusted his glasses without speaking, but the seriousness in his eyes softened considerably, and there was a hint of approval in his gaze as he looked at his daughter.

Ruan Sheng, on the other hand, reacted the most strongly.

"What?!" he exclaimed in surprise, almost dropping his chopsticks. "You really got the interview? Lexing Island?"

Ruan Yao glared at him unhappily.

“No,” Ruan Sheng quickly explained, “I’m not saying you’re not good enough. I’m talking about Huo Jing. She’s a notorious shrew. I’ve heard that she can berate her directors in meetings until they quit on the spot. With your small frame, don’t let her scare you to tears in the first round of interviews.”

Su Wanqing was even more worried when she heard this, "So powerful? Then our Yaoyao is definitely going to be bullied."

"It's alright," Ruan Yao reassured with a smile, "I'm just going there to learn from experience."

She then looked at Ruan Sheng and deliberately said, "Brother, can you have some faith in me?"

Ruan Minghui had remained silent until now, but then spoke up quietly.

"It's worth a try."

He put down his chopsticks, looked at his daughter with a rare seriousness in his eyes, and said, "Since you've made the decision, then do it seriously."

Although it was only one sentence, Ruan Yao knew that her father supported her.

For the next two days, Ruan Yao locked herself in her room and devoted herself entirely to preparing for the interview.

On the day of the interview, Ruan Yao arrived at the office building where Lexingdao was located half an hour early.

The company occupies the top three floors, and the reception area is designed with a modern and artistic flair, while the huge floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the bustling city skyline.

After registering at the front desk, an HR manager came over with a professional smile on his face, but his eyes held a hint of scrutiny.

"Ms. Ruan? Your interview process may need some adjustments."

The HR manager led her to the end of the corridor. "Here's the thing, our Director Huo is very interested in one of your design drafts, so this interview will be conducted by Director Huo himself."

Ruan Yao's heart skipped a beat.

"plz follow me."

The HR manager led her to a spacious room on the top floor. The room was large, with three walls made of floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a panoramic view of most of northern Beijing.

"Director Huo is still in a meeting, please wait a moment."

After the HR manager finished speaking, he closed the door and left.

Ruan Yao was left alone in the huge room.

Time passed second by second, and the meeting room door was pushed open from the outside precisely at the agreed time.

A woman in a sharply tailored black suit walked in, her steps were swift and powerful, and her strong aura instantly filled the entire room with a sense of oppression.

Huo Jing.

Huo Yanzhi's aunt.

She appeared sharper and more flamboyant than when Ruan Yao first met her at the Huo family in her previous life.

Ruan Yao immediately stood up straight and greeted him politely.

"Director Huo, hello."

Huo Jing gave a faint "hmm" and walked straight to the head seat to sit down, gesturing for Ruan Yao to sit as well.

She pushed the resume Ruan Yao handed her aside without looking at it, and only took out the portfolio.

Her gaze fell on the portfolio, her tone calm, yet her words were sharp.

"Ruan Yao, I've looked at your resume. To be honest, it's not outstanding among the many competitors. Your biggest weakness is that you have no internship experience."

She picked up the carefully crafted portfolio and weighed it in her hand.

"It was this design draft that made me decide to meet a recent graduate with no experience in person."

Huo Jing raised her hand and glanced at the time on her wristwatch.

"Half an hour."

She raised her head, her sharp eyes staring directly at Ruan Yao with a sense of pressure.

"Convince me that your design and your concept can bring value to Happy Island."
