Chapter 74 A Great Victory
Ruan Yao didn't even lift her eyelids.
It was her turn.
Compared to Zhao Yan's comprehensive speech, her PowerPoint presentation was completely different.
Instead of cold, hard data, the film opens with a captivating animated short that instantly transports everyone into a fantastical summer dream.
"Hello everyone, this is the world-building trailer I designed for 'Summer Wonderland'."
Her voice was sweet, yet it carried an undeniable power.
"The core of my plan is not 'safety,' but 'resonance.'"
“We are dealing with Generation Z consumers. They are not buying a simple product, but an emotional attachment, a label of identity. Brother Zhao’s solution is perfect, but it lacks ‘soul’.”
Zhao Yan's face darkened.
Ruan Yao didn't look at him and continued, "I advocate launching our core concept series, the 'Dream Journey' series, in the first phase. Every detail of the design of this series is closely connected to the storyline, so that consumers will feel like they are experiencing a fantastic adventure as they purchase and collect the entire series."
She elaborated on how a simple product line could be transformed into a phenomenal cultural event through a combination of online interaction, social media buzz, and offline pop-up stores.
Her proposal was bold, innovative, and full of the imagination and passion unique to young people.
One of the managers frowned and interrupted her: "The idea is good, but the risk is too great. All of this requires huge upfront investment. If the market doesn't accept it, how will you recoup those costs?"
"I am confident that the market will buy it."
Ruan Yao calmly and confidently pulled out another document.
"This is the concept test data I released using my personal social media account."
“In the past week, I posted three updates about the concept design drafts of ‘Summer Wonderland’ without using any company resources. The total exposure exceeded 500,000, and the number of reposts and discussions exceeded 10,000.”
"Back-end data shows that over 70% of users expressed a strong desire to purchase. This is just the result of testing within the core fan base."
She looked at the person in charge who asked the question and answered clearly and logically: "Our target users are precisely the group most willing to pay for 'passion' and 'experience'. Using conventional and conservative methods to deal with them is the biggest risk."
The meeting room was quiet.
Everyone was astonished by the data she presented.
Zhao Yan's face turned extremely ugly.
He hadn't expected that this little girl had such a trick up her sleeve.
When Ruan Yao finished speaking on the last page and bowed deeply, the conference room fell silent for a few seconds.
Then, a much more enthusiastic round of applause erupted.
Zhao Yan's face was extremely pale.
He never expected that this young girl he had always looked down on would actually have some skills.
A smile of approval finally appeared on Huo Jing's face.
She looked at Zhao Yan: "Zhao, what are your thoughts on Ruan Yao's proposal?"
Zhao Yan forced a stiff smile and said, "The idea... is very bold. But it's too difficult to execute. I still stick to my point of view: one must eat one bite at a time, and walk one step at a time."
“You really have to take things one step at a time,” Ruan Yao picked up the conversation, looking directly at him, “but if you’re going in the wrong direction, the more steadily you walk, the further you’ll stray from the right path.”
One sentence left Zhao Yan speechless for a long time.
The voting process was a foregone conclusion.
Except for one leader who was in cahoots with Zhao Yan, all the other judges, including Huo Jing, voted for Ruan Yao.
“I hereby announce,” Huo Jing stood up, her voice booming, “that the person in charge of the ‘Summer Wonderland’ project is Ruan Yao.”
Applause rang out again in the conference room.
This time, everyone's eyes were focused on Ruan Yao. There was no longer any contempt or doubt in their eyes, only amazement and admiration.
Ruan Yao stood there, listening to the applause around her and looking at Zhao Yan's ashen face, feeling an unprecedented sense of exhilaration.
She did it.
She earned everyone's respect through her own efforts.
After the meeting ended, everyone gradually dispersed.
Zhao Yan didn't leave; he stood at the conference room door, waiting for Ruan Yao.
Ruan Yao packed her things and came out. When she saw him, she paused for a moment.
"Brother Zhao."
Zhao Yan extended his hand to her.
"Director Ruan, congratulations!"
"We'll be colleagues in the same project team from now on. I hope Director Ruan will give me lots of guidance and not find this old guy a hindrance."
He adopted a humble posture, yet his words carried a sarcastic and unsettling tone.
Ruan Yao withdrew her hand, a polite smile on her face.
"Brother Zhao, you're too kind."
"You are a senior member of the project team and have more experience than me. There are still many things I need to learn from you in the future."
She retorted with a neutral tone, then turned and began packing her things without giving him another glance.
Zhao Yan sneered and returned to his workstation alone. The fake smile on his face had long since disappeared, replaced by a gloomy expression.
She's just a young girl, only relying on the Huo family's connections. What right does she have to step on his head?
He took a deep breath, picked up his phone, and strode into the deserted stairwell.
The call was answered quickly.
"Hello?"
"It's me," Zhao Yan said in a low voice into the phone. "I actually have something good about what you mentioned before."
The person on the other end of the phone seemed a little surprised and remained silent for a few seconds.
"What is that?"
A cold smile curled at the corner of Zhao Yan's mouth.
"A complete planning proposal for an S-level project."
"So, are you interested?"

After Ruan Yao officially took over the "Summer Wonderland" project, the entire Happy Star Island seemed to be wound up tight.
She became the busiest person in the office.
From coordinating with the production line to finalizing marketing details, and then to endless coordination meetings with various departments, Ruan Yao was extremely busy.
Zhao Yan had learned his lesson and stopped openly causing her trouble.
Only occasionally in meetings would he casually offer some "wise opinions," his words radiating a sense of superiority, as if to say, "I warned you long ago."
Ruan Yao ignored them all.
She silenced all dissenting voices with detailed data and practical implementation plans.
Her colleagues in the project team, who were initially hesitant, were gradually won over by her professionalism and enthusiasm and began to genuinely cooperate with her work.
In the afternoon, Ruan Yao had just returned to her workstation after a meeting when her phone rang.
The words "mother-in-law" were displayed on the screen.
It's Ye Mei.
Ruan Yao's mood instantly brightened. She took her phone and walked to the quiet tea room before pressing the answer button.
"Hello, Mom."
"Hey, Yaoyao," came Ye Mei's usual enthusiastic voice from the other end of the phone, "Are you busy? Did I disturb your work?"
"No, no," Ruan Yao leaned against the window, her voice softening unconsciously. "I just finished a meeting and was just about to take a break."
"That's great," Ye Mei said, sounding extremely happy. "Yaoyao, there's a banquet next weekend, a party hosted by Zhang Dong's daughter. It'll be mostly young people there. Go and have some fun, make some new friends."
The Zhang family was a prominent family in northern Beijing and had some business dealings with the Huo family.
Ruan Yao had heard of the Zhang family's daughter in her previous life. She heard that she was an online influencer with millions of followers, doing fashion and beauty recommendations, and had many girlfriends in her circle.
Ye Mei seemed worried that she might feel pressured, so she quickly added something else.
"Don't be nervous, it's just a trip to eat and drink and relax. Your aunt said you must be exhausted from working on the project lately, so just take a break."
"Mom, I understand," Ruan Yao replied obediently. "I was just thinking of going out for a walk too."
"That's wonderful!" Ye Mei's voice rose eight octaves with joy. "You don't need to worry about the dress, Mom has already prepared it for you! I'll have someone deliver it to the villa this afternoon, and you can choose which one you like."
Ye Mei gave a few more instructions before hanging up the phone.
