Chapter 88 Almost Died in Bed
But Ruan Yao felt uneasy under his gaze.
"What's wrong? Did something go wrong at work?"
He remained silent.
The next second, he suddenly pulled her into his arms without warning, with such force that he almost broke her bones.
He buried his face deep in the crook of her neck, greedily inhaling her familiar sweet scent, his body trembling slightly from some extreme emotion.
The strong smell of alcohol mixed with the crisp woody scent emanating from him enveloped Ruan Yao.
She was a little breathless from his embrace, but she felt more heartache than anything else.
Ruan Yao relaxed her body, raised her hand, and gently patted his broad back, soothing him with the gentlest voice she could think of.
"It's okay, no matter what happens, I'll be with you."
Her words seemed to be the last straw that broke the camel's back.
Huo Yanzhi, like a wild beast that had been completely ignited, picked her up in his arms without warning.
"Ah!" Ruan Yao let out a short exclamation and subconsciously hugged his neck.
He carried her and went straight up to the second floor.
Ruan Yao was startled by his rough actions.
Then, she was thrown heavily onto the large double bed.
The mattress was soft, which absorbed most of the impact, but she was still a little dazed from the fall.
She propped herself up on her arms and tried to sit up when a dark shadow pressed down on her.
His kisses rained down on her, overwhelming her.
It was no longer the restrained, gentle, and cherished peck it usually gave.
Instead, it was filled with plunder and possession, a frenzied devouring.
His kisses traveled from her lips to her chin, then down her long neck, spreading like wildfire wherever they went.
"Ugh... Huo Yanzhi... you're hurting me..."
Ruan Yao was startled by his sudden, almost violent enthusiasm.
She struggled, trying to push him away, but her strength was like an ant trying to shake a tree.
He ripped open her nightgown like a wild beast out of control.
There's no such thing as a gentle, obnoxious beating.
Ruan Yao gasped in pain, tears welling up uncontrollably.
"Huo Yanzhi...!"
His movements paused for a second because of her cry of pain.
In the darkness, he leaned down, his hot breath brushing against her ear, his voice hoarse as if sandpaper had been rubbed against her skin, carrying a strong sense of intoxication and a humble plea.
"Slender and graceful..."
Do you love me?
Ruan Yao was stunned.
"Do you love me?" he persisted, each word seeming to be squeezed from the depths of his throat. "Do you love me?"
Ruan Yao didn't know why he would suddenly ask this.
The pain was gradually replaced by a familiar feeling.
She clung to his shoulders, tilted her head back, and responded to him softly, crying, sinking into darkness with him.
"like……"
"I love you……"
Receiving her reply felt like he had received some kind of permission.
He worked tirelessly that night.
Every time, he would stubbornly and repeatedly ask the same question at the end.
Do you love me?
"Do you love me, Yaoyao?"
As he repeatedly confirmed it, Ruan Yao's consciousness gradually became blurred.
She didn't know how many times she had answered.
All she knew was that a small boat adrift in a storm could only helplessly drift with the waves, passively enduring the wind and rain.
Finally, she collapsed from exhaustion and fainted completely.
Huo Yanzhi vented all his unease and panic before finally stopping, collapsing wearily onto her, panting heavily.
The room was a complete mess.
The air was thick with the smells of lust and sweat.
Huo Yanzhi opened his eyes and quietly looked at the person in his arms in the pitch-black darkness.
His eyes showed no trace of the confusion or bewilderment that comes with drunkenness.
Sober, it's terrifying.
He looked at her sleeping face, at the tear stains still clinging to the corners of her eyes, and at the mess.
A mixture of satisfaction, jealousy, and immense unease, like poison, eroded his very being.
He lowered his head, in an almost pious posture.
He kissed her forehead again and again.
Her eyebrows and eyes.
Her lips.
Her collarbone.
Slender and graceful.
His slender figure.

The next day, Ruan Yao was awakened by aches and pains all over her body.
The seat next to her was empty, as if the wild beast that had gone mad and out of control last night was just a nightmare.
But when she moved, it felt as if her bones had been disassembled and reassembled, especially in certain embarrassing areas, where the burning pain reminded her that everything that happened last night was real.
Memories are like torn puzzle pieces, flooding my mind in a chaotic mess.
Huo Yanzhi was drunk.
He was like an insatiable beast, plundering again and again.
He repeatedly asked her if she loved him.
Ruan Yao's cheeks flushed instantly, the heat spreading from her neck all the way to her ears.
She lifted the covers and glanced down at herself.
From neck to ankle, it was covered with ambiguous marks of varying shades, a truly gruesome sight.
That bastard!
She wanted to settle accounts with him.
Ruan Yao angrily threw off the covers, enduring her physical discomfort, and struggled to get out of bed.
Where are they?
Did they run away after doing something bad?
Ruan Yao grabbed a bathrobe and threw it on haphazardly before storming downstairs.
She's going to confront them!
However, she stopped in her tracks as soon as she reached the top of the stairs.
Downstairs in the living room, morning light streamed in through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, making the entire space warm and bright.
On the dining table, a clean tablecloth was laid out, and in the center was an exquisite glass vase filled with a large bouquet of fresh, dewy champagne roses, looking delicate and vibrant.
The air was filled with the enticing aroma of food and the rich fragrance of coffee.
Huo Yanzhi, dressed in casual home clothes, stood with his back to her in front of the open kitchen counter, intently fiddling with something.
The morning light streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating his broad back and slender waist, creating a scene of breathtaking beauty.
His image as a perfect family man instantly extinguished half of her anger.
Hearing the noise, Huo Yanzhi turned around.
When he saw Ruan Yao, his hand movements visibly paused, a hint of unease flashed across his face, and then he quickly walked towards her.
Why didn't you sleep a little longer?
His voice had returned to its usual gentle tone, showing no trace of the rudeness and madness of the previous night.
Ruan Yao's anger instantly vanished under his gaze, which was filled with obvious guilt and caution.
She looked at him, opened her mouth, but didn't know what to say.
Ask him why he went crazy last night?
The questions he had prepared were now stuck in his throat, and he couldn't utter a single word.
"I came downstairs as soon as I woke up," she said in a muffled voice, a little hoarse. "Weren't you...working overtime?"
Huo Yanzhi's eyelashes trembled.
I missed you, so I came back early.
Missing her?
Just because I missed her, I tormented her to the point of almost killing her?
Ruan Yao felt both angry and aggrieved, but when she met his eyes, which were filled with apology and tenderness, all her questions stuck in her throat, and she couldn't utter a single word.
Huo Yanzhi walked up to her and raised his hand to touch her face.
As if afraid of startling her, he paused in mid-air, and finally just gently tidied her slightly messy hair.
"I'm sorry about last night."
He lowered his eyes, his voice filled with regret, "I drank too much, I shouldn't have...done that to you."
