The next morning, Lin Chaosheng was awakened by his biological clock. After folding the quilt, he picked up a towel and toothbrush to wash up.
After tidying everything up, Lin Chaosheng took the package downstairs to return the keys. He looked up at the clock and saw that it was only a little past eight o'clock.
He patted his stomach and realized he hadn't eaten much yesterday, so he asked the waiter, "Excuse me, are there any breakfast places around here?"
"Yes, yes, just turn left when you go out and walk straight until you reach the state-run restaurant. They now serve breakfast there," the receptionist said enthusiastically.
Thank you.
"It's alright, please take care, and welcome to come again next time!" The waiter waved goodbye to Lin Chaosheng.
Lin Chaosheng quickly arrived at the state-run restaurant, went in and ordered a bowl of porridge and a steamed bun. Feeling that he might not be full, he also bought a cup of soy milk.
After paying, he took his food and found a place to sit down. But after taking just one bite, he almost threw up.
"This stuff is absolutely awful!" Lin Chaosheng thought to himself.
He looked at the porridge with only a few grains of rice, the cold and hard steamed buns, the soy milk with a strong smell of chimney, and the unbearably salty pickled vegetables, feeling utterly exhausted. At that moment, he missed the meals cooked by Zhao Shufang and the others at home even more.
Although he knew it was a difficult time, he couldn't possibly make the food taste so bad. There was a sign on the wall that said "Refuse Waste," so wasn't this kind of food waste in disguise?
He turned to look around. Everyone had gotten used to it. They felt that it was good enough to have something to eat during these difficult times, and they ate mechanically.
There was no other way; Lin Chaosheng didn't want to be an oddball. He closed his eyes and quickly stuffed the deadly food into his stomach.
Finally, after swallowing the last bite of steamed bun with the soy milk, he breathed a sigh of relief as if he had been liberated. He put down his utensils and left with his package.
When he arrived at the factory gate, the security guard already recognized him and even thought he was some kind of powerful person, so he greeted him warmly, "Hey, it's you again, bro!"
Upon seeing this, Lin Chaosheng quickly responded with a greeting, then took out the note that Boss Lin had left for him yesterday from his pocket, saying, "This is what your Boss Lin left for me yesterday."
After the security guard received the information, he immediately made a phone call, and a short while later, an officer dressed in a Lenin suit came out.
"You must be Mr. Lin," the female staff member said, looking Lin Chaosheng up and down. "This way, please."
Then the female staff member led him into the office where Boss Lin had been yesterday, made him a cup of tea, and said gently, "Please sit here for a while. Our boss won't be back for a bit. I'll go get the fur collar you made yesterday."
Lin Chaosheng nodded, then sat down and stared blankly.
"These are some of our latest trendy fur collars. They've all been remade using the rabbit fur you brought. Take a look." The female staff member handed the fur collars to Lin Chaosheng.
Lin Chaosheng stroked the fur collar, thinking proudly, "As expected of the rabbits I raised at home, the feel and the quality are absolutely top-notch!"
"The workmanship of your fur collar is excellent! The craftsmanship is truly superb!" Lin Chaosheng praised.
The female staff member smiled and said, "Then please sit here for a while and wait for our boss. I still have some things to do. If you need anything, just go next door and call me."
Lin Chaosheng nodded and sat on the sofa in a daze again. He watched the clock tick away, and finally, he waited for Boss Lin to arrive.
"Have you been waiting long?" Boss Lin walked in. "I'm so sorry, Xiao Lin, I went to a meeting with the purchasing office of the supply and marketing cooperative that we cooperate with. They are all very satisfied with your rabbit fur!"
"Really?" Lin Chaosheng was overjoyed. "Is it possible for us to cooperate?"
“It’s not just a possibility,” Mr. Lin shook his finger, “it’s a certainty that we’ll cooperate!”
Lin Chaosheng was almost scared to death when he first heard the first half of Boss Lin's sentence, but then he breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good, that's good, you scared me to death."
"Then let's discuss the terms?" Boss Lin said.
Lin Chaosheng nodded.
"The supply and marketing cooperative was planning to buy your existing long-haired wool first, and then try selling this part. If it's profitable, we'll continue our cooperation."
"That's great!" Lin Chaosheng said happily. "I'll go back and get the goods for you right away!"
"Don't rush, don't rush!" Boss Lin quickly stopped Lin Chaosheng. "You don't need to worry about getting the goods. I'll send someone to pick them up with you in a bit."
“The most important thing is something else,” Mr. Lin said after a pause. “I need you to give me a copy of this Angora rabbit wool production plan as soon as possible.”
Lin Chaosheng understood what he meant, so he borrowed a piece of paper from Boss Lin and started calculating.
"There are currently fifty Angora rabbits. I estimate that each rabbit produces about 900 grams of fur per year. The female rabbits have a reproductive rate of about four litters per year. I think the quality of the fur might be better if they have three litters per year. So you can decide. On average, each female rabbit can produce six or seven rabbits. The male-to-female ratio is about one to one. The baby rabbits can mate and reproduce when they are four or five months old."
Lin Chaosheng wrote down a general outline on the paper as he spoke, and Boss Lin praised it highly upon seeing it.
"Xiao Lin, you know a lot about this! Okay, leave the rest to me. I'll have our specialists calculate your approximate annual output, and then we'll pick up the goods from you later."
Seeing that things had taken such a big step forward, Lin Chaosheng was very happy and quickly thanked Boss Lin, "I have to thank you for this. If you hadn't given me this opportunity last night, I definitely wouldn't have been able to sell my rabbit fur!"
Seeing that Lin Chaosheng was sincere and had a grateful heart, Boss Lin was even more willing to do business with him.
"Then you'd better work hard! When the farm gets even bigger, I'll have to call you Boss Lin!"
"Thank you for your kind words, Mr. Lin. I will definitely work hard!" Lin Chaosheng nodded repeatedly in thanks.
Boss Lin looked up at the clock. "Alright, then get ready. I'll have someone drive you to pick up the goods."
Lin Chaosheng quickly thanked Boss Lin and set off with the factory workers.
The road was long, and the driver had never traveled this route before, so he didn't drive very fast for safety reasons.
They finally arrived at the Lin family's house the next morning. When the truck drove into the village, some of the older generation thought there was another war and were so frightened that they almost fainted.
"Where did this big truck come from?"
"Who knew? It startled me. I thought something had happened."
"Hey, isn't that Lin Chaosheng sitting in the passenger seat?"
"Holy crap, it looks just like him! Could it really be him?"
"This guy is always causing trouble, making the village a mess every day."
