Chapter 24 The Second Boss Wants to Cut Off My Source of Income

"This..." Lin Chaosheng was a little embarrassed, "I can wash my own feet, why would I need you to serve me?"

"Oh dear, it's not like I haven't washed your feet before, and now you're dawdling like this again..."

Liang Mei placed the foot-washing water on the ground, reached out and nudged Lin Chaosheng, making him sit on the edge of the bed.

The sounds of the two joking and teasing each other reached Liang Fu's ears through the non-soundproof walls.

Liang Fu felt even more uncomfortable. She pulled the blanket over her head and went to sleep.

The next morning, Lin Chaosheng went to his parents' house and called Lin Shansheng.

Lin Shansheng rubbed his sleepy eyes and asked his brother, who was walking briskly, "Big brother, aren't you sleepy?"

"We're going to do something big today, so get your sleepy head back to me, you hear me?"

"Doing something big?" Lin Shansheng chuckled. "Which day these past few days hasn't been something big?"

"That's true." Lin Chaosheng thought about the past two days and realized they had been incredibly enjoyable!

"But today is different. We need to hunt another wild boar today."

Lin Shansheng was full of confidence, feeling that the two brothers alone could easily hunt a wild boar.

"Don't worry, brother. With our skills... no! With your little brother's skills, you won't even need to move. Just watch how your little brother shows off his skills and subdues the pig demon!"

Lin Shansheng sang two more lines at the end, gesturing with his hands and feet in the air.

Lin Chaosheng was laughing so hard he almost died. He waited until he had finished laughing before getting down to business.

"After we finish hunting the wild boar, you'll have to come with me to the gambling den."

"Going to a gambling den?" Lin Shansheng was stunned for a moment, then his expression became wary. "What are you going to do at a gambling den? You're not going to gamble again, are you?"

"What are you thinking!" Lin Chaosheng looked at him and said seriously, "Your brother has already reformed. He said he wouldn't gamble anymore, and he definitely won't gamble anymore!"

"What are you going there for?"

“A couple of days ago, I used the money from selling fish to pay back the principal I owed the gambling den, and I promised to pay back the interest in the next couple of days as well.”

"But you saw it yesterday too. The second boss of that gambling den clearly wanted to kill me and didn't want me to pay back the money at all."

Lin Shansheng's expression gradually turned serious as Lin Chaosheng spoke. He said earnestly, "That brat, if I see him again, I'll definitely kill him first!"

"No need, I have my own plan!" A dark glint flashed in Lin Chaosheng's eyes. "This time when I go to the gambling den, I will not only use wild boar meat to pay off the interest, but I will also exchange it for some fine grains for our family to eat!"

"What? Refined grains!" Lin Shansheng couldn't help but exclaim in surprise. Those were refined grains! He had only eaten steamed buns made from white flour a few times since he was born.

"Brother, are you serious?" Lin Shansheng couldn't help but swallow hard. "Can we really get some fine grains today?"

"Tell me, have I, your older brother, lied to you these past few days?"

Lin Shansheng shook his head like a rattle-drum, "No."

"That's settled then!" Lin Chaosheng laughed and put his arm around Lin Shansheng's shoulder. "Let's go! Let's go hunt wild boar, you two!"

On the other side, Li Erniu was lying on the bed, grimacing.

"Easy! Easy! My leg is going to break!"

Li Erniu howled in pain, his face bruised and swollen, and his body covered in bruises and wounds.

The worst part is that leg; it's already in a splint and has been declared fractured.

"You absolutely mustn't let my older brother know about this, do you hear me?"

The henchmen below were also injured, their faces were bruised, and some even had ropes around their necks.

"I heard you!"

"Don't worry, Second Boss, we will absolutely not tell the Big Boss about this."

"If my older brother finds out about this, we're definitely finished!"

Li Erniu lay on the bed, his teeth itching with hatred at the thought of Lin Chaosheng. "How could that good-for-nothing be so lucky? That wild boar charged at us like a wild dog seeing a bone!"

"Yeah, it still feels really creepy when I think about it now..."

Li Erniu became increasingly annoyed by the thought, and finally simply stopped thinking about it.

"Forget it, I need to rest. You can all get out of here too. Don't wander around these next few days unless it's important. It'll be hard to explain if someone sees you."

"Yes, yes, we'll go right away, we'll go right away."

Just as Li Erniu drifted off to sleep, Lin Chaosheng pulled the dagger from the wild boar.

"Brother, what skill you have!" Lin Shansheng stepped off the wild boar and clapped his hands sincerely.

"Stop flattering me!" Lin Chaosheng laughed. "Let's divide this wild boar up now, put it in baskets, and carry it over with shoulder poles."

"Okay!"

The Lin brothers dismembered the wild boar on the spot. Ten minutes later, each of them carried a carrying pole with baskets hanging from both ends, and headed down the mountain towards the gambling den.

Lin Chaosheng found a secluded spot, put down his carrying pole, and said to Lin Shansheng, "You stay here and guard this place. I'll go to the gambling den now and have them come and carry the meat over in a bit."

"Big brother!" Lin Shansheng was still a little worried and reached out to grab Lin Chaosheng's arm. "Can you manage by yourself? Why don't I go with you?"

"It's nothing, it's fine, don't worry!"

Lin Chaosheng patted Lin Shansheng's hand with a smile, then went to the gambling den alone.

There was no one in the gambling den early in the morning, except for a few henchmen who were guarding the place.

Lin Chaosheng walked in and said, "I'm looking for your big boss. Tell him Lin Chaosheng is here."

Upon hearing the news of Lin Chaosheng, the henchmen immediately perked up. One of them went to report the news, while the others surrounded Lin Chaosheng, fearing that he might escape.

Lin Chaosheng showed no intention of running away. Instead, he swaggered into a chair and looked around at his surroundings.

His underlings were completely confused by him.

No? Is his attitude appropriate?

"Oh, isn't this Brother Lin Chaosheng? You've come to pay back the money today?"

Li Daniu came out from inside, and Lin Chaosheng smiled when he saw him: "That's right, I did come to pay the interest today. But I didn't bring any money with me today."

Li Daniu's expression changed. "What do you mean? Are you provoking me?!"

The henchmen immediately surrounded them, one of them saying, "You come to our gambling den to pay off your debts, but you don't even have any money with you. Aren't you ridiculous! You're just here to cause trouble, aren't you? Boss, shall we go for it?"

Li Daniu narrowed his eyes slightly, and before he could speak, Lin Chaosheng said, "Boss, don't be in such a hurry. I only said that I didn't bring any money, but I didn't say that I didn't bring any money at all."

"What's the meaning?"

Lin Chaosheng stood up and said, "I could have brought money with me today, but unfortunately your second boss wants to cut off my source of income, so there's nothing I can do about it."

"So I had to go up the mountain this morning to hunt a wild boar and bring it to you, Boss."
