Chapter 49: Find someone to cook and provide food.

Lin Chaosheng didn't plan to bargain. He figured if Lao Liu didn't want it, he could just sell it on the black market for a high price and still not lose money.

"Yes, yes, yes, of course I want it!" Old Liu immediately became anxious upon hearing this.

"Wait here, I'll get you the money in a bit," Old Liu said, turning to the kitchen. "Come on, a few people, carry this wooden bucket inside."

After a while, Lao Liu came out with the money Lin Chaosheng had earned that day.

"Count it and see if it's right." Old Liu handed the money to Lin Chaosheng.

Lin Chaosheng stuffed the money into his pocket and said, "Why bother counting it? I trust you."

Old Liu shook his head helplessly, "You rascal, you've got a really big heart."

"I'm off!" Lin Chaosheng took tomorrow's order form and waved to Lao Liu.

When the father and son arrived home, they saw Zhao Shufang and the others already preparing breakfast for the workers.

After washing her hands, Zhao Shufang carried the steamed buns one by one into the large basket.

Liang Mei had already cooked a large pot of millet porridge.

Liang Fu was skillfully stirring the side dishes in a large pot in the kitchen.

When Zhao Shufang saw them return, she called out to the kitchen, "Xiao Fu, check if the sweet potatoes are ready?"

Liang Fu quickly opened the lid and poked one with chopsticks. She saw that the chopsticks could already pierce through the sweet potato.

"It's ready, Auntie!" Liang Fu shouted.

Zhao Shufang then instructed Lin Chaosheng and the others, "Alright, we only need one more basket of steamed buns. Go and call the workers to eat."

So Lin Chaosheng picked up the list and the megaphone, ready to call people to dinner.

"Those who were selected to help out yesterday can come and have breakfast!" Lin Chaosheng shouted through a megaphone.

As soon as he finished speaking, a group of villagers ran out.

“One by one, I’ll tick each one and send them to my dad’s side! Anyone whose name isn’t called doesn’t count,” Lin Chaosheng continued to shout.

Some people originally wanted to take the opportunity to sneak into his house and steal a meal.

As it turned out, Lin Chaosheng was someone who was selected based on his name.

Those people could only slink away from the crowd.

"Wang Jian!" Lin Chaosheng called out.

"Here! Here!" A villager burst out from the crowd with a grin.

Lin Chaosheng beckoned him to go to Lin Shanhai's side to register and queue up.

Then they continued with the roll call.

The villagers whose names were called happily went to line up, and the process was completed quickly.

The remaining villagers, filled with envy and helplessness, could only watch helplessly as the villagers who were about to eat coarse grains, refined grains, and meat went on to enjoy their newfound wealth.

The group of workers followed Lin Chaosheng and his companions toward Lin Shanhai's house. Before they even reached the door, they could already smell the aroma of steamed buns and sweet potatoes.

"Smell this, what's that smell so good?"

"It smells like steamed buns and sweet potatoes to me."

"It smells like that to me too. Am I just starving?"

As they continued walking towards Lin Shanhai's house, they smelled the aroma.

As soon as Lin Chaosheng pushed open the gate, the workers were greeted by a high stack of steamed buns and sweet potatoes, and the pungent smell of minced meat and green beans.

"Come on, hit me! Is my dad dead? Why does it feel like I'm in heaven?"

"Holy crap, this...this...I haven't seen so much grain in years!"

"Am I still half asleep? Is this a dream?"

The crowd discussed it noisily.

Lin Chaosheng then picked up the megaphone and shouted, "Everyone, these are all for your breakfast. Take two sweet potatoes and a steamed bun each, and a bowl of millet porridge. The side dishes are over here!"

Lin Chaosheng pointed to the large bowl on the table, "Eat as much as you can. This is just breakfast. Don't eat too much and throw up when you're working! There will be even better food for lunch, so don't fill up on just one breakfast!"

"Come line up here first!" Zhao Shufang shouted as she stood in front of the steamed buns and sweet potatoes.

The workers quickly and obediently lined up.

Some people couldn't wait any longer and started eating sweet potatoes and steamed buns while still waiting in line for millet porridge.

"These steamed buns smell so good! I haven't had such fragrant and oily steamed buns in ages!"

"Forget the steamed buns, these sweet potatoes are delicious too! They're big, fluffy, and sweet!"

"This pickled green beans with minced meat are all minced meat!"

"My goodness, this meal has eaten up a whole week's worth of food!"

As everyone ate, they praised the Lin Chaosheng family, and they were already convinced of their abilities.

They had initially thought the Lin family would give them meager meals, but they were surprised to receive such good treatment.

Moreover, Lam Chiu-sang just said that not only this meal was delicious, but lunch would be even more delicious.

Suddenly, they were filled with enthusiasm and wanted to finish their work as soon as possible so they could have lunch early.

Everyone devoured the food, leaving almost nothing behind.

Seeing that the workers had all eaten, Lin Chaosheng picked up a megaphone and said, "Everyone! We'll take a half-hour break, and then we'll get back to work!"

"Today's task isn't too heavy. Let's grab our tools and start dismantling the house," Lin Chaosheng added.

After saying that, he said to Lin Shanhai, "Dad, I'll go and ask a few aunties to help Mom and the others cook. There's a lot to do and a lot of dishes to wash at noon, and I don't think Mom and the others can handle it all."

Lin Shanhai nodded in agreement, "Go ahead, I'll take Wei He to supervise the construction later."

Lin Chaosheng took the megaphone and headed into the village.

He moved a tall chair, stood on it, and shouted through a megaphone: "The Lin family is short three cooks. We can provide three meals a day. Anyone interested?"

Upon hearing this, the women in the village rushed out of their homes.

"Me! Me! Me! Chao Sheng, choose me!"

"Choose me, Chaosheng! I even held you when you were little!"

"Get lost! You think she'll choose you just because I gave her a hug? Don't listen to her, choose me, Chaosheng!"

Lin Chaosheng looked left and right, and based on his memories from his previous life, he chose three aunts who had no grudges against his family and were easy to get along with.

"Aunt Li, Aunt Zheng, Aunt Chen, it'll be the three of you!" Lin Chaosheng finally made up his mind.

The three women were overjoyed and almost knelt down to kowtow to Lin Chaosheng.

"Thank you so much, Chaosheng! My family was so poor we were barely surviving!" Aunt Chen was about to kowtow to the ground.

Lin Chaosheng quickly stopped her: "Hey! Aunt Chen, get up quickly, or you'll shorten my lifespan!"

"Alright, everyone can go now," Lin Chaosheng waved to the remaining people who were still trying to get a spot beside him. "There will be other opportunities to call you in the future."

Lin Chaosheng said to the three elderly women, "Let's go, I'll take you to see what's going on first and let you know."

Soon, Lin Chaosheng brought the three of them to his home.

Upon seeing the newcomer, Zhao Shufang asked, "Who is this?"

“Mom, I think your mother and the others are too busy, so I was thinking of asking someone to help you,” Lin Chaosheng said, pulling Zhao Shufang aside and lowering his voice. “Anyway, it’s just a matter of providing three meals a day, and they won’t eat much.”

Zhao Shufang thought about it and realized she really couldn't manage it all, so she agreed.

She turned and led the three older women to the kitchen.
