Chapter 63 The Man Favored by God

Liang Mei had just woken up. Ignoring Liang Fu's advice, she had just reached the door of the main room when she saw Lin Chaosheng running back, and behind him standing... Ruan Jingjing.

But she no longer cares who the other people are.

As long as her husband is safe, she doesn't care if she has to be with other women!

Seeing Liang Mei's pale face, Lin Chaosheng felt a pang of pain in his heart and quickly stepped forward to hug her.

"Chaosheng, are you alright? Where are you hurt? You look so pale..."

Lin Chaosheng felt both touched and angry seeing that Liang Mei was still worried about him even now.

"I'm fine, let the doctor check on you first."

As he spoke, Lin Chaosheng turned to look at Ruan Jingjing. When he found that she was still standing there without moving, he frowned in dissatisfaction and said loudly, "Doctor, I asked you to come here to check if my wife is healthy, not to stand there and look."

The others arrived at this time, standing in the yard, panting heavily.

Ruan Jingjing felt embarrassed. She really hadn't expected Lin Chaosheng's wife to be such a beautiful woman. The little bit of pride she had in her heart was completely crushed by Liang Mei at this moment.

The only things I could be proud of were my identities as an educated youth from the city and a village doctor.

"Come inside with me."

Ruan Jingjing, carrying the first-aid kit, went into the main room after saying those words, only to bump into Liang Fu, who was walking to the door. She was startled again.

Can anyone tell her why there are two such beautiful women on this desolate island?

Liang Fu heard everything clearly from inside the house and naturally knew that this woman was the doctor her brother-in-law had brought back.

But she hadn't expected that it was a female doctor, and so young at that.

But Liang Fu only glanced at her before fixing her gaze on Lin Chaosheng and Liang Mei.

Seeing that Lin Chaosheng's complexion was normal, except for being slightly pale, she finally felt relieved.

Then, Lin Chaosheng helped Liang Mei into the room.

Ruan Jingjing used a stethoscope and other instruments to give Liang Mei a simple examination, and packed everything up a few minutes later.

To create suspense, Ruan Jingjing deliberately remained silent.

"How is she, doctor? Is my daughter-in-law alright?"

Zhao Shufang looked at Ruan Jingjing nervously.

Seeing that everyone's eyes were on her, Ruan Jingjing felt a little smug and subconsciously looked at Lin Chaosheng.

That one glance almost made her furious.

Lin Chaosheng's gaze was fixed entirely on Liang Mei, not sparing her a single detail!

Ruan Jingjing was indignant and said to Zhao Shufang in a harsh tone, "It's nothing, your daughter-in-law is in good health, and the baby in her belly is fine too."

After saying that, he picked up the first-aid kit and left.

She walked with a stumbling and staggering gait, as if the Lin family had upset her.

"I've seen plenty of educated youth from the city, and there are quite a few good-looking ones, but this is the first time I've ever seen one as annoying as her."

Someone squatting on the ground by the door spat on the ground disdainfully upon seeing Ruan Jingjing's posture.

Although she was telling the truth, her companion still patted her on the back of the head.

Where the hell are you spitting?

The man then realized he was in front of Lin Chaosheng's house. Had he just spat into Lin Chaosheng's house?!

This realization terrified the man, who immediately clasped his hands together and muttered, "All the gods and lords..."

Regardless of what people thought in the past, now a saying circulates in this medium-sized village: Lin Chaosheng is a person blessed by all kinds of gods.

Otherwise, why do so many people go fishing at sea and catch nothing, while Lin Chaosheng always returns with a full catch every time he goes out to sea?

They've practically emptied the mountain; we haven't seen a single rabbit hair. Now, when they come up the mountain, they're catching rabbits, pheasants, and wild boars. And now they've even hunted down a big black bear!

These things are simply inexplicable.

It's impossible that he was faking it!

In this year of famine, where did he get so much meat? And don't forget he used to be a big gambler!

He's squandered all the family's money; even if he wanted to borrow, he couldn't. Even if he knew a way to buy meat, he'd still need money to do so, right?

Moreover, everyone has personally witnessed how Lin Chaosheng fought with wild boars and how he caught fish.

These are all too unrealistic.

So, the seemingly absurd explanation that Lin Chaosheng was blessed by the gods has become the most convincing one.

Inside the room, no one cared about Ruan Jingjing's attitude.

They were relieved to hear that Liang Mei was alright.

Zhao Shufang sat on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed) and said apologetically to Liang Mei, "Xiao Mei, it was all my fault just now. I was so busy with Chao Sheng that I didn't pay attention to you..."

"Mom, it's alright." Liang Mei quickly interrupted Zhao Shufang. She had always been filial, so how could she let Zhao Shufang apologize to her?

“None of us are at fault in this matter. Chaosheng is the pillar of our family, and he is also your son. If I were you, I would definitely react exactly the same way you did. Besides, I'm fine, I was just a little frightened. Now that Chaosheng is alright, I'm alright too. Please don't apologize to me, okay?”

Seeing the atmosphere turn heavy, Lin Chaosheng grimaced and said, "My back still hurts. You two keep saying you care about me, but I haven't seen anyone actually come to see where I'm hurt."

The atmosphere in the room suddenly became less heavy than before.

Lin Shansheng also rushed back at this time. By then, most of the people in the courtyard had dispersed, and everyone had gone to see the big black bear that Lin Chaosheng had killed!

They couldn't figure out how to cut the big black bear, so they simply cut down a tree and tied all four of the bear's limbs to the trunk.

Then more than twenty people worked together to carry it down, and they even had to switch groups of people to carry it in the middle.

Even this has exhausted everyone.

Everyone sat on the ground, panting heavily, and the people who came to see the big black bear stared wide-eyed.

Some of the bolder ones might even take a few steps forward, reach out and touch it.

There were quite a few little kids around, and the timid ones were so frightened they cried. After all, nowadays adults love to scare children with things like, "If you don't go to sleep soon, a bear will come and steal you away."

Some of the braver children would squat to the side and watch, but they didn't dare to go any further.

"Oh my, so this is the blind black bear?"

"It looks really scary. It's completely dead, and my legs are shaking just looking at it!"

"Look at you, so spineless! What are you afraid of if you're already dead? No wonder you've never amounted to anything in your life!"

"You're so damn good, so promising, why don't you go fight a black bear?"

"Stop arguing!" Captain Wei walked over. "Once the tide comes in, we'll start dividing the bear meat."
