Chapter 18 A Trick: They Didn't Want Him to Live!

Li Erniu's revenge was interrupted before he could even begin. In a panic, he quickly said, "Brother, this won't do! This fellow has never..."

“Alright,” Li Daniu interrupted Li Erniu, “I know what kind of person he is. If he can’t pay back the money in three days, I’ll just cut off his hand.”

Li Erniu had no choice but to give up and ordered his men to release Lin Chaosheng.

Then he had someone bring paper and pen and wrote a document for Lin Chaosheng.

"Write it quickly!" Li Erniu shouted loudly.

Lin Chaosheng picked up a pen and readily wrote down the agreement.

Then he threw down the pen, pressed his red handprint, and slapped the document onto Li Erniu's shoulder.

Seeing his confident expression, Li Erniu was so angry he wanted to grind his teeth.

After leaving the casino, Lin Chaosheng felt extremely happy, as if he could see good days beckoning to him.

He happily lifted the wooden cart and carried the remaining fish home.

"I'm back!" Lin Chaosheng shouted happily as he entered the house. "Come and see what good things I brought you!"

He expected to be greeted by a smiling Liang Mei, but instead, he was met by Liang Fu, who ran out of the room with red eyes.

Lin Chaosheng's heart tightened, and he hurriedly asked what had happened.

Upon seeing him, Liang Fu burst into tears, crying out, "Sister, brother-in-law..."

Liang Fu was sobbing uncontrollably, and Lin Chaosheng quickly patted her back to help her catch her breath. "Don't worry, tell me slowly."

“My sister fainted at noon. I wanted to take her to the clinic, but she didn’t want to…” Liang Fu sobbed.

Upon hearing this, Lin Chaosheng rushed into the room and saw Liang Mei's pale face, lying on the bed looking extremely pained.

When Liang Mei heard someone come in, she quickly opened her eyes and saw that it was Lin Chaosheng who had returned. She quickly put on a smile to reassure her husband.

Lin Chaosheng helped Liang Mei up and asked her where she felt unwell.

Seeing Lin Chaosheng's anxious look, Liang Mei felt an indescribable warmth in her heart and quickly comforted her husband, "It's nothing, I'm just tired, I'll be fine after lying down for a while."

After saying that, he raised a faint smile.

When Lin Chaosheng saw that Liang Mei was in such a state, yet was still trying her best to reassure him, his throat tightened and his eyes immediately reddened.

“I’ll take you to the clinic,” Lin Chaosheng said, preparing to pick up Liang Mei.

Liang Mei patted Lin Chaosheng to comfort him, saying, "It's really nothing. I'm just tired. Besides, going to the clinic would be a waste of time and money."

Lin Chaosheng frowned, feeling an overwhelming sense of guilt. He hated himself for being such a scoundrel in the past, causing his wonderful wife to suffer every day.

Even when I'm exhausted, I don't dare to rest; even if I feel unwell, I don't dare to see a doctor.

Lin Chaosheng took Liang Mei's hand and said, "You should just rest these few days and do nothing. Let Xiao Fu take care of you."

He turned around and called Liang Fu in, "Xiao Fu, I'm really sorry to trouble you these next few days. Take good care of your sister, and I'll take care of the rest."

Liang Fu wiped away her tears and nodded.

Lin Chaosheng touched Liang Mei's face and continued, "Today, I caught a lot of fish and brought them back for the show. I'll make you fish soup, braised fish, and spicy boiled fish later..."

Liang Mei was amused by her husband: "Can you do it?"

Lin Chaosheng hurriedly said, "I really know how! Also, I gave some of the remaining fish to my parents, sold the rest, and then went to the casino to pay off my losses."

"In a few days, I'll hunt a lot more game and pay off all the interest at once. Then our family will finally have a good life!" Lin Chaosheng continued happily.

Upon hearing about her husband's actions that day, Liang Mei's face flushed red, and she felt as if she had been suddenly infused with strength.

She excitedly cupped her husband's face in her hands, "Are you telling the truth?"

Lin Chaosheng nodded solemnly, "Of course it's true, I will definitely make sure you live a good life!"

Liang Mei happily hugged her husband and burst into tears. Actually, she shouldn't have cried so much after hearing such good news, but she just couldn't help it.

Looking at her husband's resolute face, she couldn't help but feel a surge of affection.

Liang Mei silently thanked God for giving her such a good husband.

Lin Chaosheng was afraid that Liang Mei, with her small frame, would faint again if she cried too hard, so he quickly comforted her.

"Don't cry, Xiaomei, don't cry. I'll go cook you some food, okay? You really need to eat something nourishing right now!"

Liang Mei wiped away her tears and quickly nodded in agreement.

Liang Fu, who was standing to the side, was both shocked and delighted to see that her brother-in-law had actually used the money he had earned to pay back the debt.

Hearing about Lin Chaosheng's actions today, and seeing how gentle he is now, Liang Fu couldn't help but feel more fond of him.

On the other side, Li Erniu was still fuming about not being able to remove Lin Chaosheng's arm.

Last time, Lin Chaosheng not only made him gain nothing, but also made him lose face in front of many villagers and his own underlings.

Before he could get revenge, Li Erniu was so angry that he kicked the corner of the wall hard.

Zheng Ergou, who was standing nearby, saw this and started plotting some underhanded tricks.

"Second Master," Zheng Ergou thought of a good idea and immediately whispered to Li Erniu, "I have a plan that can kill this Lin Chaosheng."

"Speak quickly!" Li Erniu hurriedly sat down upon hearing this.

"I heard that Lin Chaosheng caught more than 300 fish and sold them all in the village, which is how he paid off his principal," Zheng Ergou said, winking.

Li Erniu, puzzled, asked, "So?"

“Think about it,” Zheng Ergou suddenly lowered his voice, “we’ve already given him three days to pay the interest, so he’ll definitely do the same thing again and keep catching fish to sell.”

Li Erniu tilted his head and looked at Zheng Ergou, pointing at him and chuckling, "We'll prepare more manpower then, snatch his stuff, and make sure he can't sell it!"

"Second Master is truly a reincarnation of Zhuge Liang!" Zheng Ergou hurriedly flattered upon hearing this.

"Very good, this time we'll plan it out properly. Whether Lin Chaosheng fished it out of the sea or shot it from the mountains, we'll take it all from him!" Li Erniu commanded his underlings, preparing to launch a "battle meeting".

Lin Chaosheng, who was stewing fish, suddenly felt a jolt in his back and a sense of unease.

He recalled the look on Li Erniu's face that seemed to want to tear him to pieces, and a wave of fear washed over him.

"I don't want to. I need to prepare early. This Li Erniu is no good. He's definitely thinking of ways to mess with me." Lin Chaosheng muttered to himself as he took off his apron.

"Xiao Fu," he shouted, "I have to go out urgently, can you watch the fish for me?"

Liang Fu quickly agreed, "Go ahead, brother-in-law, be careful on the road!"

Lin Chaosheng hurriedly pushed open the gate and walked towards the village chief's house.
