Lin Chaosheng was startled when he saw that there were at least one or two hundred dogs in the dog farm.
"Are you two here to buy a dog?" At this moment, the person in charge of the dog farm came out. He had just finished speaking when he saw Su Ning and immediately extended his hand, saying, "Oh, isn't this Section Chief Su from the Sales and Purchasing Department? What brings you here to buy a dog today?"
"Old Wu, long time no see. I don't need to buy any dog. I don't have anything at home."
Su Ning joked, then introduced to Lao Wu, "This young man's surname is Lin, and his name is Lin Chaosheng. He is a partner of our supply and marketing cooperative and wants to buy two fierce dogs, but they also need to be easy to train."
"Buy a vicious dog?" Old Wu frowned slightly, rubbing his hands together as he said, "What's the purpose of this Marxist-Leninist boxing style? The regulations are strict now, and if it hurts someone, it'll be difficult for me to handle."
"Old Wu, aren't you implying a lack of trust in me, Su Ning? Do you think the people I, Su Ning, bring are such vicious and wicked individuals?"
"No, Section Chief Su, look at the way you talk... That's not what I meant!"
Lin Chaosheng understood what Lao Wu meant and immediately explained, "Brother Wu, don't worry, I came to buy a dog today so that it can look after the things at home."
Although Lin Chaosheng said so, Lao Wu still didn't quite believe it. In this year of famine, what property could possibly need to be guarded by a vicious dog?
Seeing that Lao Wu was still somewhat skeptical, Su Ning pulled him aside and said to him in a voice that only the two of them could hear, "Lao Wu is the one who grows watermelons. I saw such a large watermelon field with my own eyes!"
"What did you say? Did I hear that right? There are actually people who can grow watermelons these days?"
Old Wu looked on in surprise, while Su Ning smiled and said, "Right? I didn't believe it at first either, but there are too many things that have happened to this guy that are hard to explain."
"But I saw these watermelons with my own eyes. I was also involved in building the greenhouses for them."
"We've watched a watermelon seedling grow into a big watermelon right before our eyes; we can't fake that, can we?"
"Since you saw it with your own eyes, it certainly wouldn't be faked."
Old Wu rubbed his hands together, looking rather hungry.
After all, he hadn't eaten fruit for quite some time; at most, he'd eaten a couple of sour apricots and two sour persimmons. He'd even forgotten what watermelon tasted like.
"Old Su, I see you two are on such good terms, and you even asked him to buy a dog. Is there some kind of cooperation between you and your supply and marketing cooperative?"
Suning knew what he was up to at a glance, but thankfully he didn't just ask him to send two watermelons.
"We both know this perfectly well. When the watermelons go on sale, I'll let you know as soon as possible. I'll make sure you can buy some, okay?"
Old Wu burst out laughing upon hearing this, his mouth practically stretching to his ears.
"Okay, okay, that's great. I'm relieved to hear you say that."
Lin Chaosheng had no idea what the two were whispering about. He just wandered around the dog farm, looking at the dogs in their cages.
The dog farm has quite a variety of dog breeds, including purebred Tibetan Mastiffs, German Shepherds, and many other breeds I can't name.
There are fierce ones, gentle ones, and cute ones that jump around in their cages trying to bite you; it's quite fun.
"Brother Lin, have you made your choice?"
Just then, Lao Wu walked over. Lin Chaosheng turned around and looked at him. He saw Su Ning, who was walking behind Lao Wu, wink at him – Done!
Lin Chaosheng smiled; he knew Suning was reliable.
"I've made my choice. I think the Tibetan Mastiff is pretty good."
Chao Sheng pointed to one of the Tibetan mastiffs locked in a cage. The mastiff seemed to sense Chao Sheng's finger pointing at it and bared its fangs and let out a fierce howl inside the cage.
Startled, Su Ning took a half step back, patted his chest, and said, "Brother Lin, isn't this a bit too fierce? Taking it back would definitely be useful for guarding the house, but we can't really discipline it ourselves!"
After listening, Lao Wu nodded and began to advise Lin Chaosheng.
"Brother Li, you have a really good eye. This Tibetan Mastiff is the fiercest of the hundreds of dogs in my kennel."
"It's big, but it's also the hardest to train. It's been with our kennel for two years. Nobody dares to get close to it, and it even bites the people who feed it every day."
"Why don't you get a different one, Brother Lin?"
Lin Chaosheng shook his head firmly and said, "No, it's him! He's the one I like. I took a liking to him at first sight. As for whether he's fierce or not, what if I'm his destined one?"
Seeing Lin Chaosheng's insistence, Old Wu didn't say anything more and said to the people next to him, "You two put on your protective suits and bring this dog out."
Both men looked frightened upon hearing this, but there was nothing they could do. They went back to change into a set of trendy protective clothing, then went to the dog cage and used a fork to fix the Tibetan Mastiff's head to the ground.
Another person put a collar over his head, and the Tibetan mastiff howled and struggled the whole time, which terrified Su Ning.
"Chao Sheng, will this work?"
"It's alright, Brother Su, just watch me."
Lin Chaosheng chuckled, summoned his system, and asked in his mind, "System, can I sign a contract with this Tibetan Mastiff?"
"Of course, the host can just give him a name."
Lin Chaosheng felt more confident. No matter how fierce a creature was, once he gave it a name and signed a contract with it, it would become a docile little lamb that only listened to him.
"Since you're so fierce and look so unkempt, let's call you Ao Bai."
Lin Chaosheng strode over in a few steps, showing no fear whatsoever. Old Wu, watching from the side, clicked his tongue in amazement; it was the first time he had ever seen such a bold person.
"Section Chief Su, your young buddy is quite something! His courage is truly extraordinary!"
Su Ning chuckled to himself, thinking: Of course, this is his future brother-in-law, how could he be bad?
Although Lin Chaosheng walked over and named the Tibetan Mastiff, no one present took it seriously.
But what happened next was shocking.
The Tibetan mastiff, which had been fierce and ready to pounce on its prey, suddenly became docile.
"Ao Bai, come here."
The originally fierce Tibetan mastiffs, upon hearing Lin Chaosheng's bark,
Chao Lin Chao Sheng immediately broke free from the shackles of the other two and ran away.
"Tide rises, watch out!"
"Brother Lin, be careful!"
Old Wu and Su Ning, who were standing on the periphery, both burst into shouts of alarm, trying to get Lin Chaosheng to get out of the way quickly.
They didn't know what was happening; they only saw the Tibetan mastiff suddenly break free of the other two's restraints and pounce on Lin Chaosheng. They thought a bloody scene would unfold before their eyes in the next second.
