Chapter 30 First Visit to the Su Family

Zhou Yi put the suit she had made a few days ago and the cheongsam she had made recently into the cloth bag.

I went to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy some gifts, and then went to visit the Su family with a big bag of things.

There is a famous mountain in Jinghai City, which is not very high, called Yanshan. It is famous because the people living on this mountain are either rich or noble. If they gather together, they can move the entire Jinghai City.

The Su family is located halfway up Yanshan Mountain.

Zhou Yike spent a lot of energy and time to reach the halfway point of the mountain and the door of the Su family villa.

The Su family's villa is a Chinese-style three-courtyard house with a stone lion on each side of the door. On the tall door plaque are the vigorous and powerful words "Su's House", which is very prominent.

Prominent yet reserved, imposing yet not ostentatious, one can tell at a glance that it has been accumulated and settled for at least several generations. In this era, there are very few families that can remain unaffected and exist steadily, and the Su family is obviously one of them.

As expected of the Jinghai Su family, the location and aura of this house, even if it is restrained and unobtrusive, will still shock many people, but not Zhou Yi.

After all the ups and downs in the previous life, what kind of people hadn’t he seen? What kind of magnificent villas had he not seen?

Zhou Yi walked to the door and knocked. The door only opened a corner, and a woman who looked to be in her fifties came out and asked, "Excuse me, young lady, who are you looking for?"

"My name is Zhou Yi, and I'm looking for Old Madam Su." She simply introduced herself, as this auntie would definitely go and ask for instructions.

"Little girl, wait here for a while." Sure enough, the aunt closed the door and went in.

After a long while, the door opened again.

Old Mrs. Su came out with the aunt. Seeing that it was really Zhou Yi, she smiled and walked forward, took Zhou Yi's hand and said, "Xiaoyi, it's really you. Come in quickly. If you don't come soon, I can't wait any longer."

Zhou Yi handed the gift he brought to the aunt, took Mrs. Su's arm, and said mischievously:

"Madam Su, I'm here now. Aunt Qin said she'd arrange for Qin Bei to pick me up, but I haven't seen him since. So, I'm not anxious for a free meal, so I shamelessly came to your house. Madam Su, please don't chase me away."

When Zhou Yi mentioned Qin Qin, the smile in Mrs. Su's eyes faded, and there was a hint of worry.

"You've carried so many things here. You must be tired after walking up the mountain. Come to the front hall and have some tea first." Old Mrs. Su pulled Zhou Yi through the small garden in front and walked towards the front hall.

"Mrs. Su, isn't Aunt Qin at home?" Zhou Yi asked again when he didn't see Qin Qin.

"Your Aunt Qin is not feeling well and has been resting these days, so there are no arrangements. Please don't mind." Old Mrs. Su patted Zhou Yi's hand with worry in her eyes.

"Ah? Aunt Qin isn't feeling well? What's wrong with her?" Zhou Yi was surprised. No wonder Qin Bei hadn't shown up yet, having agreed to pick her up in two days. It turned out he was ill. Anxiously, he continued to ask, "Mrs. Su, can I go see Aunt Qin?"

She had noticed at the Calligraphy Association before that Aunt Qin and Old Lady Su had strange reactions when they heard about her background, and her intuition told her that Aunt Qin fell ill because of this.

"Your Aunt Qin is worried!" Old Mrs. Su sighed.

"Heartache? Why don't you tell me about it? I've thought about it carefully. When I see Aunt Qin later, how will I counsel her?" Zhou Yi also had a worried look on her face. She really liked Qin Qin and didn't want her to get into trouble.

"In fact, it's not a secret in Jinghai. It's just that it has been too long and no one talks about it anymore." Old Mrs. Su's eyes darkened. She pondered for a while, took a deep breath, and then spoke again.

It turned out that Aunt Qin had a daughter who was born as fair and cute as a porcelain doll. She was also the only girl in the Su family, so everyone doted on her and took her wherever they went.

Once, she went out with the Su family elders as usual, but got lost in Fengxian. In the past ten years, the Su family would go to Fengxian several times almost every year to look for their poor granddaughter. This is why Zhou Yi met Old Lady Su on the train from Fengxian to Jinghai.

The Su family offered a reward of 10,000 yuan that year, but to no avail.

Over the past decade or so, I have searched almost all of Jinghai and Fengxian, but to no avail.

Qin Qin blamed herself for not taking good care of her daughter because of the loss of her beloved daughter. She suffered from severe depression in the first two years. It took her five years to slowly get out of it, but she still fell into the pain of missing her daughter every once in a while.

And in the year that Su Mingzhe's beloved daughter went missing, his black hair turned completely white.

When she said this, Mrs. Su's eyes were already red.

Zhou Yi also felt the same emotion. She never expected that Qin Qin, a female doctor who seemed so optimistic and cheerful on the surface, had been suffering from the pain of missing her daughter for more than ten years.

"Mrs. Su, don't be too sad. Family members who are destined to be together will always get together. What's more, you have never given up looking, so you will find it eventually." Zhou Yi comforted Mrs. Su.

"I hope so!" Old Mrs. Su had obviously lost confidence. After more than ten years of searching, there was no clue at all. It was undoubtedly like looking for a needle in a haystack.

"Mrs. Su, let me ask you, what if, what if I want to recognize Aunt Qin as my godmother, is that okay?" Zhou Yi boldly asked. She didn't care about the strength of the Su family, but she really wanted to have more contact with Qin Qin.

Mrs. Su pondered for a moment, thinking of Zhou Yi's temperament and her daughter-in-law's love for her, and said, "It's not impossible. It depends on your Aunt Qin. Her mood has been fluctuating too much recently."

"I understand. I will wait until the time is right. Also, don't worry, Mrs. Su, I don't have any other thoughts about the Su family." Zhou Yi said this in advance to prevent Mrs. Su from thinking too much and thinking that she had some intentions.

"What are you talking about, kid? You saved my life. I originally wanted to adopt you as my goddaughter, but you, girl, wanted to be the goddaughter of my daughter-in-law. This is all fate between you and her." Old Mrs. Su smiled and patted Zhou Yi's hand.
