Signing the contract
With the approval of her siblings, Yu Shu decided to formally finalize the content and start creating it when she returned.
There were few recreational facilities at my grandmother's house, so Qin Yuanqing took a few people to the nearest town.
It rained heavily last night, so the fields along the road were still a little muddy. The rice seedlings were fragrant and fresh, and dragonflies were standing on the branches and leaves.
Before leaving, Qin Yuanqing pulled her wallet from her trouser pocket. The red bills were particularly eye-catching. After a quick count, she saw about twenty or thirty of them. With a tone that was a bit like an adult showing off to a child, she said, "This semester, I've earned so much."
She gestured a number, and the youngest Qin Kang took a deep breath.
Then he looked at Yu Shu and Qin Yi, who were not far from the high school entrance exam, and said, "There are so many ways to make money in college, like online shopping and making software. Good universities have easy access to these things. You should study hard and get into a good university in the future."
Finally, she brought out the main point: "Of course, the most important thing is that all your expenses in Litang Town today will be paid for by my sister."
The three of them were very happy. Yu Shu remembered that there was a typhoon shelter in the town and suggested going there for some ice cream.
Four people were riding their bicycles south.
Yu Shu's grandmother sat on the doorstep, slaughtering a chicken. Qin Wan held a bowl to collect the blood and shouted to the children in the distance, "Remember to come back for lunch!"
Yu Shu waved her hands vigorously, and the cool air penetrated into her clothes from her armpits, making her shiver.
Qin Yuanqing sneezed, and the car swayed. Yu Shu was so anxious that she was ready to jump out of the car at any time.
Yu Shu's grandmother stood up anxiously, looking worried: "Big brother—ride slower!"
After three kilometers of racing along the gray-white cement road between the yellow seedlings and green trees, three bicycles finally arrived at Litang Town.
There is a food street next to the largest department store in town. Qin Yuanqing took his three younger sisters and brothers into the typhoon shelter.
There was a colorful offset-printed menu on the table, which dazzled Yu Shu.
"Look at what you like to eat. Sister has plenty of money."
Qin Yuanqing patted his chest and said.
Qin Kang ordered a green apple shaved ice and a peach shaved ice without hesitation.
Qin Yuanqing slapped him hard, "You're small but have a big stomach. If you can't finish this ice cream, I'll beat you up."
Qin Kang shrank back and dropped the peach shaved ice.
Qin Yi saw what happened to her brother, and silently crossed out the grape shaved ice and blueberry shaved ice in her mind, and rationally ordered only the sweet watermelon shaved ice.
Yu Shu's taste is more unique. She likes shaved ice with red beans and peanuts.
"Boss, one pineapple shaved ice, one green apple shaved ice, one watermelon shaved ice, one red bean and peanut shaved ice, two French fries, and two stinky tofu!"
The boss was very quick and the dishes arrived soon after we ordered.
Four bowls of shaved ice were placed on the table, along with freshly fried crispy French fries and stinky tofu.
Qin Yi picked up her watermelon shaved ice, which was filled with watermelon cubes and had coconut milk and sweet potatoes underneath.
The sweet watermelon juice seeped perfectly into the smoothie, and Qin Yi puffed up her cheeks with happiness.
"It's delicious, sis. I love you."
Yu Shu first pierced a piece of stinky tofu with a skewer. The ugly black tofu was fried until it was slightly bulging, and a small hole was broken in the middle, which was stuffed with dried radish, chili peppers and coriander.
Take a bite, and you will find the marinade flowing in every pore. Chew it, and you will find the crispy outside and tender inside stinky tofu sandwiched with soft dried radish and chili peppers.
Endless aftertaste.
Take another bite of shaved ice, the soft red beans are paired with the crispy peanuts, and the sweet taste is refreshing with every bite.
Finished eating very quickly.
Qin Yuanqing continued to take them to sing karaoke.
It is located at the very back of the food street, in a separate three-story building.
KTV is still very popular now. When summer vacation comes, many students come to sing.
Young girls wearing diagonal strap and halter tops walked out hand in hand.
The makeup that seems a bit tacky in retrospect is now very popular. Yu Shu likes this makeup method that expresses beauty directly.
There was only one small private room left at the front desk, which Qin Yuanqing booked for two hours and also ordered a fruit plate, drinks, and snacks.
Yu Shu ordered a song called "New Boy", which is one of the few songs she can sing.
“Yes, I see sunshine everywhere/Happiness is floating over the city…”
The whole song is light and full of beautiful fantasies about the future at the beginning of the century.
In an era of booming economy, would people have thought that it would soon fall into stagnation?
As Yu Shu sang, she vaguely saw herself at the age of thirty.
Qin Yuanqing commented sarcastically: "Xiaoyu, this is not how you sing this song."
She picked up another microphone. It was the same song, but her voice was completely different from Yu Shu's. There was no sadness, only beautiful expectations of striving for progress. It made people feel as if the world was at their feet and they were fearless no matter where the road led.
Yu Shu followed her elder sister's tone and abandoned her own slightly sad singing style.
After the song ended, Qin Yi changed to "Happy Piggy Bank".
“The puppy and the cat/the elders and the teacher/can’t see what’s on my mind…”
A lively and cheerful tune sounded, and Qin Yi and Qin Kang's singing skills were almost non-existent, they just sang with their loud howling voices.
Yu Shu took the fruit plate handed to her by the staff and enjoyed it to her heart's content.
The little brother and sister took turns singing one song after another, each one louder than the other, trying to beat the other with their vocal pitch.
After singing for two hours, several people sang until they were hoarse and ate up all the fruit plates.
Qin Yuanqing took them to buy a bowl of ice jelly and ate it before heading home.
Along the way, Qin Yi and Qin Kang were still immersed in the KTV, singing and cheering.
It's just that without the accompaniment, it's hard to tell what song it is.
…
After returning from the bustling grandmother's house, Yu Shu was still a little uncomfortable with the quiet environment at home.
I went to school to get my report card: Chinese 108, Mathematics 74, English 47, Physics 71, Chemistry 84, and the remaining subjects were close to full marks.
Yu Shu was originally a student with some academic weaknesses. She performed very well in liberal arts in the college entrance examination, but her English and math were greatly hindered, and her Chinese was not good either.
Her mediocre grades hit the undergraduate line of 500 points, and her total score was only a dozen points higher than the undergraduate line. The scores of the first few schools she applied to rose sharply, and she was rejected by the second-to-last school and went to study in a small city in the province.
In Shankakari, to get into the city you have to take a bus first and then transfer to a public bus before you can get a taxi to the train station. It’s hard to describe.
Lao Yi awarded Yu Shu a certificate of Star of Progress as a reward for her great progress in the final exam. Xia Qiqi also received a certificate.
She has improved from the bottom three to more than ten places and is now ranked 49th in Class 10.
Some are happy and some are sad, Su Yuekang once again ranks last.
Lan Xing was sent to her grandmother's house in Haicheng to attend summer camp, and Xia Qiqi had to attend cram school.
For a whole month, Yu Shu stayed at home drawing comics.
She re-drew the comic and modified some details.
I sent the first three chapters to Manke magazine, but a week has passed and I haven't received a reply yet.
But she was not discouraged and continued to draw the following plot.
If she doesn't receive a reply, she will submit her paper to other magazines.
In the editorial office of the imperial capital, the young editor San San was working with a pile of Yu Shu's works.
In the past two years, Manke magazine has opened a new section to publish comics by potential new authors.
For works with smooth plots, good art styles, and suitable for commercialization, editors will be arranged to contact the authors to seek cooperation.
At the meeting every Tuesday, all editors can submit works that they intend to sign.
Although San San is just a young and inexperienced editor, she has the editor-in-chief aunt behind her, and no one in the magazine dares to look down on her.
Moreover, she does have a unique vision and has signed many good works. The work of the last new author was completed this quarter and will be published as a single volume.
Compared to some editors who signed contracts for unfinished works and received razor blades in the mail, San San is undoubtedly a successful and lucky editor.
"Editor-in-Chief, please take a look at this article, 'The Princess's Genetic Disease.' I think this author has great potential."
When the other people at the table heard the word "princess", they thought it was some kind of romance comic. This kind of comic is the most popular type nowadays, and they, as editors, are tired of reading it. Could it be that San San didn't receive a suitable work this time?
Several people looked at each other and chuckled secretly.
Editor-in-Chief Su took the work handed to him by his niece and quickly flipped through it.
She was first impressed by the gorgeous and beautiful painting style, the bold color matching and composition, but it was not confusing or uncomfortable, but rather made people want to see more.
The princess battle introduces the first episode, a fantasy future year, a strange genetic disease, dazzling skills, and the subsequent dizzying twists and turns, and the beginning of the nine underground cities...
Editor-in-Chief Su read through these three chapters with great satisfaction.
She had a feeling that this work would be a big hit!
A smile appeared on her face unconsciously, and the other editors felt something was wrong. Sure enough, when Editor-in-Chief Su read other manuscripts, he felt that Xiaoyu's work was even more mature.
Talented people will shine wherever they are, and Editor-in-Chief Su urgently asked San San to hold on to this author.
"Contact the author immediately and review the outline. If there are no problems, sign the contract."
…
The computer for Yu Shu's home was finally installed. The factory's logistics department purchased it in bulk, which was much cheaper than buying it at Gome Electrical Appliances by herself.
Yu Shu not only wrote her home address on the comics she sent, but also left her QQ email address.
As soon as she boarded the train, Yu Shu saw a small red dot.
She closed her eyes and prayed before clicking, it must be news of a contract!
She painted for such a long time and revised the details countless times.
Click to open:
—Hello Xiaoyu, I'm Editor Sansan. I'm delighted to receive your submission. It's about signing a contract with the magazine...
Yu Shu's heart exploded.
This was the first time in my life that I accomplished such a big thing.
This means that in the future, countless people will see her works on public publishing platforms, and perhaps she will have a group of loyal readers, and someone might even recognize her when she walks on the street.
The capillaries on her face became rapidly congested, and Yu Shu ran out of the study.
Like a college entrance examination student who received admission letters from Shuimu University and Teito University, she raised her draft with great joy.
Her face was flushed and her eyes were surprisingly bright as she shared her joy with Qin Wan.
"Mom! The magazine wants to sign me!"
