Chapter 306 A Difficult Knot to be Untied
Fang Lanxin went to the hospital the day after she returned to the port city.
Ling Ye was staying in a VIP ward. Huo Siya was by the bedside, and when she saw Fang Lanxin come in, she immediately stood up.
"Mom, you've come."
"Hmm." Fang Lanxin walked to the bedside and looked at Ling Ye lying on the bed.
Ling Ye had lost a lot of weight, his face was pale, and his eyes were staring blankly at the ceiling.
"A-Ye," Fang Lanxin called to him.
Ling Ye turned his head and saw Fang Lanxin, a glimmer of light flashing in his eyes. But it quickly dimmed again.
"Sister Fang." His voice was very soft.
"Siya, you can go out first," Fang Lanxin said. "I want to talk to Aye alone."
Huo Siya hesitated for a moment, then nodded and left.
Only Fang Lanxin and Ling Ye remained in the ward.
Fang Lanxin pulled up a chair and sat down.
"Ah Ye, you're torturing yourself."
Lingye didn't say anything.
“You’re not eating or drinking; the doctor said you’re refusing treatment,” Fang Lanxin said. “You want to die.”
“I didn’t want to die,” Ling Ye finally spoke. “I just don’t know what the point of living is anymore.”
Fang Lanxin looked at him.
This once flamboyant and unrestrained young man has now become like this.
"Ah Ye, you're only eighteen," Fang Lanxin said. "Life is long; how can you say it's meaningless?"
“But Sister Fang, you’re gone.” Ling Ye turned to look at her. “You’re with Master Guan now.”
"I know I'm not good enough for you."
"I know that my feelings for you are wrong."
"But I can't control it."
Ling Ye's eyes reddened.
"Sister Fang, every day when I open my eyes, all I think about is you."
"I want to see you, I want to talk to you, I want to hear you call me Aye."
"But now, you have Guan Yu by your side."
"I no longer have the right to see you."
Fang Lanxin felt a little sad after hearing this.
She knew Ling Ye had deep feelings for her. But she never imagined they would be this deep.
“Ah Ye, listen to me,” Fang Lanxin said. “I’m with Jing Shen because we love each other.”
"This has nothing to do with you."
Even without Jin Shen, I wouldn't be with you.
"Because we're not a good match."
Lingye's tears fell.
“I know,” he said. “I know we’re not a good match.”
"But Sister Fang, I just can't forget you."
"I tried it, I really tried it."
"But every time I think of you, my heart aches terribly."
Fang Lanxin fell silent.
She didn't know how to persuade Ling Ye.
This kind of feeling cannot be resolved with just a few words.
“Ah Ye, time heals all wounds,” Fang Lanxin said. “You feel pain now because you are still young.”
"When you grow up and meet the right person for you, you'll understand that I'm not your destiny."
Ling Ye shook his head.
"No, I won't," he said. "Sister Fang, you are my destiny."
"I will only love you in my entire life."
Fang Lanxin sighed.
"Ah Ye, you're getting stuck on a nitpicky point."
“I didn’t,” Ling Ye said. “Sister Fang, I know you won’t be with me.”
I don't expect you to love me.
"I just wanted to know if I could see you occasionally."
Even just watching you from afar would be enough for me.
Fang Lanxin looked at Ling Ye.
The boy's eyes were full of pleading.
She softened.
“Aye, I can come to see you occasionally,” Fang Lanxin said. “But you have to promise me you’ll cooperate fully with the treatment.”
Eat well and rest well.
"Stop torturing yourself."
Ling Ye's eyes lit up.
"Sister Fang, are you serious?"
When have I ever lied to you?
Lingye smiled.
This was the first time he had smiled in a long time.
“Sister Fang, I promise you,” he said. “I will cooperate fully with the treatment.”
"That's good." Fang Lanxin stood up. "I'll go now, you get some rest."
"Sister Fang," Ling Ye called out to her.
"Um"
"Thank you," Ling Ye said. "Thank you for coming to see me."
Fang Lanxin smiled, turned around and left the ward.
As soon as Huo Siya stepped out of the ward, she immediately came to greet him.
"Mom, how's Ah Ye?"
“He has agreed to cooperate with the treatment,” Fang Lanxin said. “Siya, please take good care of him during this time.”
"I will," Huo Siya nodded.
Fang Lanxin looked at her daughter.
Huo Siya has lost a lot of weight recently, and her complexion is not good.
"Siya, have you been working too hard lately?"
“No,” Huo Siya said. “I just haven’t been sleeping well.”
Fang Lanxin frowned.
"You should go get a checkup."
"Mom, I'm fine."
"Listen to me," Fang Lanxin said. "I'm worried about you getting a full checkup."
Huo Siya couldn't refuse her mother's request, so she had no choice but to agree.
Two hours later.
Fang Lanxin sat in the doctor's office, looking at the test report in her hand.
Huo Siya stood to one side, her face pale.
"Congratulations, Ms. Fang," the doctor said with a smile. "Ms. Huo is pregnant, and she's already six weeks along."
Fang Lanxin was stunned.
She turned to look at Huo Siya.
Huo Siya lowered her head, not daring to look at her mother.
Siya, you're pregnant.
Huo Siya nodded.
Fang Lanxin took a deep breath.
Whose child is it?
Huo Siya bit her lip.
"It's...it's A-Ye's."
Fang Lanxin's mind went blank.
She never expected that Huo Siya and Ling Ye would develop their relationship to this point.
"When will you..."
“It was before A-Ye’s accident,” Huo Siya said. “That night, we all drank.”
"And then..."
She couldn't continue.
Fang Lanxin closed her eyes.
This matter was more complicated than she had imagined.
"Siya, what do you plan to do?"
Huo Siya raised her head.
"Mom, I want to give birth to the baby."
Fang Lanxin looked at her daughter.
Huo Siya's eyes were very firm.
Have you thought it through?
"I've thought it through," Huo Siya said. "Mother, this is my child."
"I can't live without him."
Fang Lanxin fell silent.
After a long while, she finally spoke.
"Alright, since you've made up your mind, Mom supports you."
Huo Siya's tears fell.
"Mom, thank you."
"Silly child," Fang Lanxin hugged her daughter. "You're my daughter, who else would I support if not you?"
Huo Siya leaned against her mother's arms and cried even harder.
Fang Lanxin patted her daughter's back.
She knew that Huo Siya had been under a lot of pressure during this period.
"Siya, does Aye know about this?"
Huo Siya shook her head.
"I haven't told him yet."
"Why"
“Because I’m afraid he’ll only stay with me because of the child,” Huo Siya said. “Mom, I know Aye likes you.”
"His feelings for me were just those of a friend."
"If he knew I was pregnant, he would definitely take responsibility."
"But that's not what I want."
Fang Lanxin looked at her daughter.
Huo Siya has grown up.
She knows what she wants and what is right.
"Siya, are you planning to keep this from him forever?"
“No,” Huo Siya said. “I will tell him once Aye’s condition stabilizes.”
"But not now."
"He's in a state where he can't handle this news."
Fang Lanxin nodded.
"you're right."
"Mom, will you keep this a secret?"
“Of course,” Fang Lanxin said. “This is your business; I won’t tell anyone.”
Huo Siya breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank you, Mom."
"Silly child, why are you thanking your mother?"
It was already evening when the two of them left the hospital.
