Chapter 85 Letting Go
The moment Fang Lanxin opened the door, the scent of her favorite gardenias wafted towards her.
Looking at the gardenias on the bedside table, Fang Lanxin felt a surge of warmth in her heart.
"Is this prepared for me?"
Fang Lanxin tilted her head and glanced at Lin Meiling, her eyes crinkling with surprise.
"As long as Mom likes it."
Lin Meiling scratched her head somewhat embarrassedly.
Fang Lanxin pinched Lin Meiling's nose and said with a smile, "I like it, thank you!"
After saying that, Fang Lanxin walked over and carefully smelled the scent of the gardenia.
Seeing Fang Lanxin's actions, Lin Meiling smiled gently, silently closed the door, and left.
Going downstairs, Lin Meiling saw Huo Qibang still wiping the watch. She couldn't help but smile, and hugged Huo Qibang from behind, saying, "I've told you before, your mother cares about you, but you wouldn't believe me. Do you believe me now?"
“I believe it, I knew it, Mom wouldn’t abandon me.” Huo Qibang grinned foolishly at Lin Meiling: “Look, Mom bought me a watch.”
Fang Lanxin had bought Huo Qibang many things before, countless of which were more valuable than this watch, but he had never paid any attention to them. But now, he suddenly realized that his mother's care was so heartwarming.
Fang Lanxin moved out before because she couldn't sleep at all here, but now, perhaps because she has let go of her worries, she fell into a deep sleep shortly after lying down.
The next day, early morning.
Fang Lanxin got up early and sat at the dining table reading the newspaper.
"Mom, I'm going to work now. What are you doing today?" Huo Qibang came downstairs at this moment, smiling at Fang Lanxin.
He couldn't remember the last time he saw Fang Lanxin as soon as he went downstairs. The feeling was so wonderful that he felt like he was dreaming.
Upon hearing this, Fang Lanxin glanced at him and said, "I'm going to the company too. I'll hitch a ride with you!"
"Mom, the company is operating normally right now. Is there something you need to do with me?"
"I still have some things in the office, and I need to get them back."
Fang Lanxin spoke frankly, saying that now that the company had been handed over to Huo Qibang, she would not go back on her word, nor would she interfere with the company's operations.
However, some things should still be taken home.
Huo Qibang stood in the entrance hall, silently waiting for Fang Lanxin.
Fang Lanxin had coffee before they went out together.
"Has everything been peaceful at the old house lately? Has anyone been giving you trouble?"
Fang Lanxin frowned and glanced at Huo Qibang.
During this time, countless unpleasant words were uttered into Huo Qibang's ears at the old house, but he truly managed to let them go in one ear and out the other.
He looked at Fang Lanxin, smiled, and then said, "They'll definitely say some unpleasant things, but I won't take it to heart."
“Mom, I’ve made up my mind. As long as you’re happy, you can live whatever kind of life you want. Our Huo family’s affairs are none of anyone else’s business!” At this point, Huo Qibang had completely shed his previous naivety and was now a dignified head of the family.
It has to be said that after letting go, this child has grown up very quickly.
Fang Lan nodded with satisfaction, then looked at Huo Qibang with a smile: "It's good that you know what you're doing."
"Mom, I know I did a lot of bad things before and made you sad. I will change in the future. Please don't be sad and don't ignore me, okay?" Huo Qibang looked at Fang Lanxin with pleading eyes.
Fang Lanxin had no desire to bring up those past events.
She glanced at Huo Qibang and said calmly, "I'm going to the fishing village on a business trip next week. I'll be back for my birthday party."
Fishing village, on a business trip?
Huo Qibang looked at Fang Lanxin with confusion: "Mom, what kind of project would require a business trip to a fishing village?"
"It's nothing, it's my own business."
"Mind your own business, and stay out of my way!"
Fang Lanxin was absolutely serious when she said she wanted to start her own business. A Shuang had called before, saying she wanted Fang Lanxin to go and see the situation there.
"Mom, I don't mean to interfere in your life, I'm just worried about you!"
"The security situation in the fishing village is very bad, you need to be careful."
Huo Qibang looked at Fang Lanxin with a worried expression.
Fang Lanxin smiled and then nodded. This child has really grown up a lot; he's even started to care about people now.
Huo Group, President's Office.
Fang Lanxin carried a cardboard box into the room and began to unpack her things. She had previously regarded this place as her second home, so she still had quite a few personal belongings here. On the table was a family photo taken when her husband was still alive.
The photo is from twenty years ago and has yellowed a bit now.
She looked at the photo of herself. At that time, she had a son and a daughter, her loved ones were by her side, and she was full of vigor and vitality.
Now look at it...
Fang Lanxin gently touched the portrait of her husband in the photo frame and whispered, "Sir, I miss you so much."
After leaving the office, Fang Lanxin drove to the cemetery.
Even though her husband has been gone for twenty years, Fang Lanxin's heart still aches terribly every time she thinks of him.
She held a large bouquet of white roses and placed it in front of the tombstone, speaking gently, "Sir, I've come to see you. It's been so long!"
Fang Lanxin touched the photo on the tombstone, then sat down silently to the side and said, "I suppose you've seen it all. I've done my best for this family. Now that the two children are grown up, aren't you satisfied? But I'm not satisfied. I feel like I've forgotten what I was supposed to be like. Sir, if you were still here, would you still like me as I am now?"
Fang Lan felt a sharp pain in her heart as she thought about this.
She doesn't even like herself now, let alone her former lover.
Fang Lanxin smiled and said, "I'm going to do my own thing now. I'm not going to care about your son and daughter anymore. If you're angry, then come see me in your dreams and tell me!"
She stood up, gazed intently at the photo on the tombstone, then turned and strode away.
The Guan family.
Grandpa Guan looked at Second Master Guan, grinding his teeth and sneer, "The company is so busy right now, and you just leave like that? What's so great about going abroad? Watching shows? What's so interesting about that!"
"Brother, I work 365 days a year, can't I even take a few days off? Even if you're a capitalist, you can't exploit your own brother, can you?" Guan Yu lazily picked at his ear and said in a low voice, "You started cursing me as soon as I walked in the door, and it's been a whole day and night, why are you still talking?"
