Chapter 269 Mysterious Phone Call
Fang Lanxin hung up the phone, her expression calm.
She placed her phone on the table and tapped her fingers lightly on the surface a few times.
This phone call was very suspicious.
Huo Zhenhong had just been kicked out, and Huo Zhenxiong was dealt with as well. At this moment, someone suddenly jumped out and said that he had the Huo family's secret.
The timing was perfect.
Fang Lanxin picked up the phone and dialed Huo Wen's number.
"Huowen, come in for a moment."
Huo Wen quickly pushed the door open and came in.
"Mr. Fang."
"I just received a call from an unknown number. They said they have a secret about the Huo family and asked to meet me at the yacht marina in Victoria Harbour tomorrow night at 8 PM." Fang Lanxin handed her phone to Huo Wen. "Go check this number."
Huo Wen took the phone and glanced at the number.
"I'll check right away."
"And one more thing." Fang Lanxin stood up and walked to the window. "For tomorrow night's meeting, arrange for people to be ready around the yacht marina."
"I want to see who's behind this."
Huo Wen nodded.
"I understand, Mr. Fang."
After Huo Wen left, Fang Lanxin sat back down in her chair.
She closed her eyes and quickly went through the recent events in her mind.
Zhang Mingyuan was arrested, Huo Zhenhong was kicked out of the Huo family, and Huo Zhenxiong was dealt with...
These events may seem independent, but they all point to the same thing—someone is secretly targeting the Huo family.
And this person is very likely the one who called her.
Fang Lanxin opened her eyes, a cold glint flashing in them.
Since the other party wants to play, she'll play along to the end.
When Fang Lanxin returned home that evening, she saw Ling Ye sitting in the living room as soon as she entered the door.
"lady!"
Ling Ye saw her and immediately stood up.
Fang Lanxin was somewhat surprised.
"A-Ye, what are you doing here?"
"I came to find you." Ling Ye walked over and took Fang Lanxin's hand. "Madam, you left too quickly this afternoon. I still had something to say."
Fang Lanxin withdrew her hand.
"Ah Ye, didn't I tell you? You're still young."
"I'm not young anymore!" Ling Ye's voice was urgent. "Madam, I know what you're worried about, but I really don't care about my age, nor do I care what others think."
"You're the only one I care about."
Fang Lanxin looked at Ling Ye, and an indescribable feeling welled up in her heart.
The boy's emotions were so intense that she didn't know how to respond.
"Ah Ye, some things aren't as simple as you think." Fang Lanxin turned and walked upstairs. "Go back, I'm tired."
Ling Ye stood there, watching Fang Lanxin's back, his hands clenched into fists.
He won't give up.
Absolutely not.
At 7:30 p.m. the next day, Fang Lanxin appeared on time at the yacht marina in Victoria Harbour.
Huo Wen had already made arrangements in advance, and people were deployed around the entire dock.
"Mr. Fang, everyone's been arranged," Huo Wen said, walking over and lowering his voice. "As soon as he shows up, we'll be able to capture him."
Fang Lanxin nodded.
"well done."
She checked the time: 7:50.
Ten minutes left.
Fang Lanxin stood by the dock, the sea breeze carrying a salty, fishy smell.
She had her hands in her trench coat pockets, her expression calm.
At exactly eight o'clock, a man wearing a black trench coat appeared on the dock.
The man was wearing a hat and a mask, so his face was not visible.
He walked up to Fang Lanxin and stopped.
"Mr. Fang, you're right on time."
Fang Lanxin sized up the man.
"Who are you?"
"Who I am is unimportant," the man chuckled, his voice slightly hoarse. "What matters is that I possess the Huo family's secrets."
"What secret?"
"Well..." the man deliberately dragged out his words. "If Mr. Fang wants to know, he'll have to show some sincerity."
"Sincerity?" Fang Lanxin raised an eyebrow. "What do you want?"
"I want 10% of the Huo Group's shares," the man said directly. "If Mr. Fang agrees, I'll tell you the secret."
Fang Lanxin gave a cold laugh.
"Ten percent of the shares? You've got quite the appetite."
"Mr. Fang, this is a secret concerning the life and death of the Huo family." The man's voice carried a hint of smugness. "Ten percent of the shares, isn't that a lot?"
"Really?" Fang Lanxin suddenly laughed. "Then tell me, what secret is worth this price?"
The man paused for a moment.
He didn't expect Fang Lanxin to be so direct.
"this……"
"Can't say anything?" Fang Lanxin took a step forward, her tone turning icy. "You think I'd be intimidated by such clumsy tactics?"
The man's expression changed.
"Mr. Fang, what do you mean?"
"What do you mean?" Fang Lanxin sneered. "What I mean is, you don't have any secrets at all; you're just trying to trick me."
The man's body stiffened for a moment.
"Mr. Fang, don't make false accusations!"
"Slanderous accusations?" Fang Lanxin took out her phone and opened a recording.
The recording came from a man's voice, the very words he had just spoken.
"This is the evidence." Fang Lanxin put away her phone. "You are suspected of extortion, and I have already called the police."
The man's expression changed completely.
"you……"
He turned to run, but after only a few steps, he was stopped by several bodyguards.
Huo Wen walked over and grabbed the man's collar.
"Still trying to run?"
The man struggled, but couldn't break free.
Fang Lanxin walked over and reached out to pull off the man's mask and hat.
Upon seeing the man's face clearly, Fang Lanxin narrowed her eyes.
"So it was you."
The man was Huo Zhenxiong's confidant, named Li Cheng.
"Li Cheng, you've got some nerve." Fang Lanxin's voice was icy. "Did Huo Zhenxiong send you?"
Li Cheng gritted his teeth and remained silent.
"Not going to talk?" Fang Lanxin turned to look at Huo Wen. "Then let's hand it over to the police and let them interrogate you."
"Wait!" Li Cheng finally panicked. "I'll talk! Second Master sent me!"
"He said he'd give me a large sum of money if I could get shares!"
Fang Lanxin sneered.
Huo Zhenxiong was indeed persistent.
"Huo Wen, take him to the police station." Fang Lanxin turned and left. "And tell Huo Zhenxiong to behave himself, or next time it won't be so simple."
"yes."
Back in the car, Fang Lanxin leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes.
Huo Zhenxiong's move was really too low-level.
Did he think he could threaten her with this method?
That's ridiculous.
My phone rang.
Fang Lanxin opened her eyes and glanced at the caller ID.
It is Guan Jinshen.
She hesitated for a moment, but still accepted the answer.
"Deeply powerful."
"Lanxin, I heard you went to Victoria Harbour tonight?" Guan Jingshen's voice was filled with worry. "What happened?"
Fang Lanxin was somewhat surprised.
How did you know?
"My network of informants in Hong Kong isn't to be underestimated," Guan Jingshen sighed. "Lanxin, if you encounter something like this in the future, could you tell me first?"
I'm worried about you.
Fang Lanxin remained silent for a while.
"Jing Shen, I can take care of myself."
"I know," Guan Jingshen's voice was gentle. "But I still want to stay by your side and protect you."
A warm feeling welled up in Fang Lanxin's heart.
"Deeply powerful..."
