Chapter 293 Handover
Kenneth Fok stood in front of his desk, looking at the documents his mother handed him, his hands trembling slightly.
"Mother, this..."
"This gives you full control of the Huo Group." Fang Lanxin placed the documents on the table. "From today onwards, you are the true leader of the Huo Group."
Kenneth Fok opened the documents, which contained the board's resolutions and a share entrustment agreement.
He looked up, his eyes full of confusion.
"Mom, why did you suddenly make this decision?"
Fang Lanxin walked to the French windows and looked at the port city outside.
"Ki-Bang, how old are you this year?"
Thirty-two.
“Thirty-two years old.” Fang Lanxin turned around. “When I was your age, I had already been supporting the Huo family on my own for three years.”
"You have the ability and the courage. You did a great job handling the internal strife in the Huo family during this period."
"I feel at ease leaving the company in your hands."
Kenneth Fok walked over and stood beside his mother.
"Mom, is there something you're hiding from me?"
"No," Fang Lanxin smiled. "I just want to rest for a while."
"I've missed out on so much over the years because of the Huo family."
"Now that the Huo family is stable and the truth about Tianle has been found out, I want to live for myself for once."
Kenneth Fok remained silent.
He recalled the changes in his mother during this period.
My mother used to be a decisive and strong woman, with only the Huo family and business in her eyes.
But now, there's a sense of relaxation in my mother's eyes.
It was as if a heavy burden had finally been lifted.
"Mom, where are you planning to go?"
"I haven't decided yet," Fang Lanxin said. "Maybe I'll go to Europe, maybe I'll go to America."
"I'll go wherever I end up."
Kenneth Fok nodded.
"Will you still be involved in the company's affairs?"
"No." Fang Lanxin replied decisively. "You are in charge of all company matters."
"When it comes to important matters, you can make the decisions yourself."
"But Mother..."
"Qibang," Fang Lanxin interrupted him. "You need to learn to be independent."
"I can't always be there for you to make decisions."
"The future of the Huo family is in your hands."
Kenneth Fok took a deep breath and took the document.
"I see."
"Mom, go in peace."
"I'll leave the Huo family to you; there won't be any problems."
Fang Lanxin patted her son on the shoulder.
"I trust you."
After leaving the company, Fang Lanxin drove to the hospital.
Tianle is still in the intensive care unit.
For the past three years, the child has remained in a coma.
But recently the doctor said that all of his indicators are improving.
Perhaps I will wake up soon.
Fang Lanxin pushed open the ward door, and Huo Qibang's wife, Lin Wan, was wiping Tianle's body.
"Sister Lanxin." Lin Wan stood up.
"Wanwan, thank you for your hard work."
"It's not hard work," Lin Wan smiled. "Tianle is my son, it's only right that I take care of him."
Fang Lanxin walked to the bedside and looked at the child lying there.
Tianle is six years old this year, an age when he should be full of energy and vitality.
But he can only lie here.
"Wanwan, did Qibang tell you?"
"He said so," Lin Wan nodded. "He said you're going on a trip for a while."
"Um."
"Sister Lanxin, you should go," Lin Wan said. "You've sacrificed so much for the Huo family over the years."
"It's time to get some rest."
Fang Lanxin took Lin Wan's hand.
"I'm counting on you for Tianle's matter."
"Don't worry."
Fang Lanxin stayed at the hospital for an hour before leaving.
On her drive home, she received a call from Guan Jingshen.
"Lanxin, are you free?"
"What's wrong?"
I'd like to invite you to dinner.
"Where?"
"That French restaurant halfway up the mountain, at 7 pm."
"good."
After hanging up the phone, Fang Lanxin checked the time.
It's 5 PM now.
She drove home and changed her clothes.
A black long dress, and a simple pearl necklace.
Her hair was pulled back, revealing her long, slender neck.
At 7:00 sharp, Fang Lanxin arrived at the restaurant on time.
Guan Jingshen was already waiting for her.
He was wearing a dark gray suit, and his hair was neatly combed.
Seeing Fang Lanxin enter, he stood up and gentlemanly pulled out a chair.
"Lanxin, you look beautiful today."
"Thank you." Fang Lanxin sat down. "Master Guan, are you being so formal today because of something important?"
Guan Jingshen smiled.
"There is something I want to tell you."
He waved to the waiter and ordered several dishes.
He only spoke after the waiter left.
"Lanxin, I heard you handed the company over to Qibang?"
"The news came so fast?"
“Hong Kong is only so big,” Guan Jingshen said. “The Huo family’s affairs cannot be kept secret.”
Fang Lanxin picked up her glass of red wine and took a small sip.
"Yes, I did hand the company over to Chi-Pang."
What are you planning to do?
"Go on a trip."
Guan Jingshen looked at her, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
"one person?"
"Yes, alone."
"And what about me?"
Fang Lanxin raised her head and met Guan Jingshen's eyes.
"Jing Shen, what do you mean by that?"
Guan Jingshen put down his wine glass and leaned forward.
"Lanxin, we've known each other for twenty years."
"Over the past twenty years, I have watched you transform from a newlywed bride into the matriarch of the Huo family."
“I watched you single-handedly support the Huo family and pull it back from the brink of bankruptcy.”
“I’ve watched you get hurt by those people from the Huo family time and time again.”
Fang Lanxin didn't speak, but listened quietly.
"Lanxin, do you know why I've always been single?"
"Why?"
"Because I'm waiting for you."
The music in the restaurant continued, but Fang Lanxin felt that the whole world had become quiet.
Guan Jingshen's gaze was so serious that she felt somewhat at a loss.
"Deep strength..."
“Lanxin, I know it might not be appropriate to say this now,” Guan Jingshen said. “But I don’t want to wait any longer.”
"In these twenty years, I've watched you get married, watched you have children, and watched you worry yourself sick for the Huo family."
"There's nothing I can do but help you as a friend when you need it."
"But things are different now."
"The Huo family is stable now, and you are free."
"Lanxin, please give me a chance."
Fang Lanxin's hand holding the wine glass trembled slightly.
She didn't expect Guan Jingshen to say these things at this time.
"Jing Shen, I..."
“You don’t need to answer me now,” Guan Jingshen interrupted her. “I just want you to know how I feel.”
"If you'd like, I can go on a trip with you."
"If you are unwilling, I will respect your choice."
"But whatever decision you make, I will be here waiting for you."
Fang Lanxin looked at the man in front of her.
Guan Jingshen is a well-known eligible bachelor in Hong Kong.
Many socialites wanted to marry him, but he remained unmoved.
It turns out it was because of her.
"Jing Shen, is it worth it for you to do this?"
"It's worth it." Guan Jingshen's answer was unwavering. "As long as it's you, anything is worth it."
Fang Lanxin smiled.
"Lord Guan, are you chasing me?"
“Yes.” Guan Jingshen smiled as well. “Mrs. Huo, I’m pursuing you.”
"Then you'd better be mentally prepared," Fang Lanxin said. "I have a bad temper and many demands."
“I know,” Guan Jingshen said. “That’s why I’ve been preparing for twenty years.”
The two looked at each other and smiled.
