Chapter 75 Going Abroad
Huo Siya had always thought that all of Fang Lanxin's affection for her was just a ploy to marry her off to a business partner, and simply to maximize profits.
But to his utter surprise, he realized that he had been overthinking things; Fang Lanxin's true intentions were not like that at all.
"Mom, I'm sorry. I don't know how to apologize to you so that you can forgive me. I know you must hate me now, you don't like me anymore, right?"
"Mom, I don't want this to happen, I really don't want this to happen."
Huo Siya stared longingly at Fang Lanxin, slowly approaching her until she squatted down in front of her, just like when she was a child, resting her head on Fang Lanxin's knees, tears streaming down her face.
“Mom, I went abroad to study hard and come back to help you. Mom, I am your daughter, and I will definitely make something of myself.”
Huo Siya didn't know how to apologize; this was the only way she could make herself feel less guilty.
Fang Lanxin opened her handbag, took out a card, and handed it to Huo Siya.
"There's 500,000 here; consider it my support for your studies."
"What you want to learn, what kind of person you want to be, and what you want to do in the future are all up to you."
"Huo Siya, you only live once. You've already made a mistake once. I hope you won't make the same mistake again."
Fang Lanxin handed the card to Huo Siya, pushed her away, and silently walked upstairs.
Watching Fang Lanxin's retreating figure, Huo Siya's tears flowed even more freely. Staring at her back, she choked out, "Mother, no matter what I say, will you never forgive me?"
Fang Lanxin didn't fail to forgive her; she simply didn't turn back and didn't even acknowledge her!
"Mother!"
Huo Siya stood up, called out again, and tears streamed down her face. She clutched the bank card her mother had given her tightly and strode outside.
The Huo family mansion.
"Sister-in-law, don't bother. You're packing so much stuff for me, the luggage will be overweight." Huo Siya looked helplessly at the busy Lin Meiling.
She used to look down on her sister-in-law, who came from a common background, but now she feels that her sister-in-law is really good to her, so her attitude towards her sister-in-law has naturally changed.
As Lin Meiling packed her things, her eyes reddened, and she said sullenly, "Why did you have to go abroad? Isn't it good enough at home? What kind of good schools are there in China?"
"You're abroad, in a place you don't know anyone. What if you get bullied?"
"Why don't you talk to your brother about it properly?"
That was all Lin Meiling could think of. Huo Siya was the youngest sister in the family, and she really couldn't bear to let Huo Siya go abroad and suffer.
Seeing this, Huo Siya pulled Lin Meiling down to sit, and said with a smile, "Sister-in-law, my English is very good, don't worry. I'm the eldest daughter of the Huo family, who would bully me? Who would dare to bully me?"
Seeing Huo Siya completely transformed, Lin Meiling's eyebrows furrowed tightly. She felt no relief, only heartache.
She took a deep breath, reached out and gently touched Huo Siya's cheek. The moment her fingers stopped on the scar on Huo Siya's brow bone, she seemed to be burned and withdrew her hand.
“Ya Ya, your sister-in-law really cares about you. Your sister-in-law doesn’t want you to leave home. You stay here, and your sister-in-law will take care of you. Isn’t that good?” Lin Meiling’s tears fell down: “I wish you could always be the willful and unruly eldest daughter of the Huo family.”
If these are the costs of growing up, then Lin Meiling would rather Huo Siya never grow up.
Hearing this, Huo Siya felt very uncomfortable: "Sister-in-law, I treated you so badly before, why don't you hold a grudge against me?"
"Because I know you're not a bad person."
"Although you always say that I am not good enough for your brother, you still slap other people when they say the same thing. I've seen it."
Lin Meiling's expression changed, her eyes lowered, and tears streamed down her face.
Huo Siya turned her face away somewhat shyly, and said with a grin, "Actually, that's not what I meant. I don't think it's because you're not good enough for my brother. It's my brother's good fortune to have found such a good wife like you!"
"What good fortune?"
Huo Qibang entered the room with a bouquet of flowers and handed it directly to Lin Meiling. He noticed that her eyes were red and felt a surge of nervousness.
Why are you crying?
Seeing that her brother and sister-in-law had such a good relationship, Huo Siya felt relieved. She got up with a smile and walked upstairs.
"Did Ya Ya say something unpleasant?"
Huo Qibang sat down next to Lin Meiling, took her hand, and asked her gently.
"No, Ya Ya didn't say anything. She's going abroad, and I'm reluctant to leave her, so I cried."
"Why don't you try to persuade Ya Ya? Her family is so well-off, why does she want to study abroad?"
Lin Meiling's eyes were red, and her voice was choked with sobs.
Upon hearing this, Huo Qibang was stunned: "What did you say? She's going abroad?"
"You didn't know?" Lin Meiling looked at Huo Qibang in disbelief.
Without thinking too much, Huo Qibang hurriedly went upstairs to find Huo Siya.
He grabbed Huo Siya's wrist, frowning as he looked at her: "Why did you go abroad?"
"I want to study abroad."
“I originally studied jewelry design, so I should go to Europe to see how to create good works.”
Huo Siya spoke with such self-righteousness, as if it were something that should be done.
If it were before, Huo Qibang would definitely have agreed to such a request, but now...
When she made this request, Kenneth Fok just felt sorry for her.
"Ya Ya, you don't need to..."
"Brother, this is my choice, and it's what I want to do. I want to go to Europe, I want to study abroad, I want to start my own brand and build my own business. Do you understand what I mean?"
Huo Siya simply put it more bluntly.
She looked at Huo Qibang, a slight smile playing on her lips, and spoke very clearly.
In that case, Huo Qibang had heard a similar version from Fang Lanxin before.
Huo Qibang stared at Huo Siya, feeling that something seemed off about his younger sister.
His eyebrows furrowed tightly as he looked at Huo Siya: "But you're all alone..."
"Brother, I'm not afraid."
"I'm fine on my own."
Huo Siya smiled, stood up, and hugged Huo Qibang.
"Brother, don't worry, I'm just going to study abroad, I won't stay away."
"You need to take good care of your mother at home."
As Huo Siya spoke, her voice choked up again.
"Mom, will she ever forgive me?"
