Chapter 276 The Street Kid's Intelligence Network, Underground Transactions Exposed
Fang Lanxin looked at the text message Ling Ye sent on her phone, her finger hovered over the screen for a few seconds, and finally replied with a "Okay".
At 7 p.m., Fang Lanxin arrived at the restaurant Ling Ye had arranged to meet.
This was a Hong Kong-style tea restaurant, with very ordinary decor, but it was very popular. When Fang Lanxin walked in, Ling Ye was already waiting for her by the window.
“Madam!” Ling Ye saw her and immediately stood up.
Fang Lanxin walked over and sat down. "Why did we meet here?"
"This shop has the best pineapple buns." Ling Ye smiled shyly. "I used to come here often. The owner is very nice. When I didn't have money, she would let me buy on credit."
Fang Lanxin looked at Ling Ye, a mix of emotions welling up inside her. Although this young man appeared flamboyant on the surface, he was actually very innocent at heart.
"Madam, what would you like to eat?" Ling Ye handed over the menu.
"You order," Fang Lanxin said.
Lingye ordered several signature dishes and then returned the menu to the waiter.
“Madam,” Ling Ye suddenly spoke. “I’ve found out some things that might interest you.”
Fang Lanxin looked up at him. "What is it?"
“Huo Zhenhong.” Ling Ye lowered his voice. “I have some brothers on the street, and they found out for me that Huo Zhenhong has been in contact with some overseas capital people recently.”
Fang Lanxin narrowed her eyes. "Overseas capital"
“Yes.” Ling Ye nodded. “And it’s not the legitimate kind, it’s an underground bank, specializing in money laundering.”
Fang Lanxin's expression turned serious. "Are you sure?"
“Confirmed.” Ling Ye took out his phone and showed several photos. “Look, these were taken by my brother. Huo Zhenhong and those people met in a warehouse in Tsim Sha Tsui.”
Fang Lanxin took the phone and looked at the photo carefully. In the photo, Huo Zhenhong was talking to several foreigners, and there were several people carrying suitcases next to him.
"Do you know the address of this warehouse?" Fang Lanxin asked.
“I know,” Ling Ye said. “It’s near the Tsim Sha Tsui pier, in an abandoned cargo warehouse.”
Fang Lanxin returned the phone to Ling Ye. "Aye, you did a great job."
"Madam, what do you plan to do?" Ling Ye asked.
"Let's remain calm for now," Fang Lanxin said. "Have your people keep an eye on things and see when they'll make their next deal."
“Okay.” Ling Ye nodded. “Madam, don’t worry, I will definitely keep a close eye on things for you.”
The food arrived, and the two ate and chatted.
“Madam,” Ling Ye suddenly spoke. “I’ve heard about Guan Yu proposing to you.”
Fang Lanxin paused for a moment.
"Did you agree to his request?" Ling Ye's voice was soft, but his eyes were full of tension.
"No." Fang Lanxin put down her chopsticks. "Aye, some things aren't as simple as you think."
“I know it’s not simple,” Ling Ye said, looking at her. “But Madam, I want to know, do I have a chance?”
Fang Lanxin looked at Ling Ye, whose eyes were full of seriousness and expectation.
“Ah Ye, you’re still young,” Fang Lanxin said. “You’ll meet even better girls in the future.”
“I don’t want anything better,” Ling Ye interrupted her. “I only want you.”
Fang Lanxin sighed. "Aye..."
“Madam, I know what you’re worried about,” Ling Ye said. “You’re worried about my age, about what others will think, and about whether I’m just acting on impulse.”
"But madam, I have never been so certain of one thing as I am now."
I like you not because you are beautiful, not because you are rich, but because you are who you are.
"You are strong, intelligent, and independent. There is a quality about you that fascinates me."
"Madam, please give me a chance to prove to you that I'm serious."
Fang Lanxin looked at Ling Ye, unable to describe her feelings.
The boy's feelings were so direct that she was somewhat at a loss.
"Ah Ye, I need time to think about it," Fang Lanxin said finally.
Ling Ye's eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Yes." Fang Lanxin nodded. "But I can't guarantee the outcome."
"It's alright!" Ling Ye smiled, his eyes crinkling. "Madam, I'm happy as long as you're willing to consider it."
After dinner, Ling Ye escorted Fang Lanxin home.
In the car, Lingye's phone rang.
"Ah Ye, Huo Zhenhong has made a move." A young man's voice came from the other end of the phone. "They've arranged to meet at the warehouse at 10 PM tomorrow night for the transaction."
Ling Ye glanced at Fang Lanxin. "Understood, keep an eye on things."
After hanging up the phone, Ling Ye turned to look at Fang Lanxin. "Madam, they have a deal to make tomorrow night."
"I understand," Fang Lanxin said. "I'll arrange for someone to go tomorrow night."
“Madam, I’ll go with you,” Ling Ye said.
"No need," Fang Lanxin refused. "This kind of thing is dangerous; you shouldn't get involved."
“I’m not afraid of danger,” Ling Ye said. “Besides, Madam, those underground money lenders are not easy to deal with; you need me.”
Fang Lanxin looked at Ling Ye and finally nodded. "Okay, but you have to follow my instructions."
“No problem!” Ling Ye smiled.
Upon returning home, Fang Lanxin immediately called Huo Wen.
"Huo Wen, tomorrow night at 10 pm, Huo Zhenhong is going to make a deal with people from an underground bank at an abandoned cargo warehouse near the Tsim Sha Tsui pier."
"Arrange for people to set up the area around the warehouse, but don't alert them."
"We'll catch them all when they make the deal."
"Yes, Mr. Fang," Huo Wen replied.
After hanging up the phone, Fang Lanxin leaned back in her chair.
Huo Zhenhong was truly desperate this time, and actually colluded with people from underground banks.
But it's good, this time we can finally get rid of him completely.
At 9:30 p.m. the next day, Fang Lanxin and Ling Ye arrived at the Tsim Sha Tsui pier on time.
Huo Wen had already led his men to set up the area.
"Mr. Fang, the people are all arranged." Huo Wen walked over and lowered his voice. "As soon as they show up, we'll be able to capture them."
"Okay." Fang Lanxin nodded.
Time passed second by second, and at exactly ten o'clock, several black cars drove into the warehouse.
Huo Zhenhong got out of the car, followed by several foreigners.
“It’s them.” Ling Ye pointed at the group. “Those foreigners are from the underground money exchange.”
Fang Lanxin picked up her binoculars and carefully observed the situation inside the warehouse.
Huo Zhenhong met with the foreigners in the center of the warehouse, each accompanied by several bodyguards.
"Did you bring the money?" one of the foreigners asked in broken Chinese.
"I brought them." Huo Zhenhong waved, and his bodyguard walked over carrying several boxes.
The foreigners opened the suitcase for inspection and found it was full of cash.
"Very good." The foreigner nodded in satisfaction. "And what about our goods?"
Huo Zhenhong asked.
“Here.” The foreigner waved, and his men came over carrying several boxes.
Huo Zhenhong opened the box, which contained stacks of US dollars.
"That's fine," Huo Zhenhong said. "It was a pleasant collaboration."
"Wait a minute," the foreigner suddenly spoke up. "Mr. Huo, our boss would like to discuss another business deal with you."
"What kind of business?" Huo Zhenhong asked.
"Shares in the Huo Group." The foreigner smiled. "Our boss is very interested in the Huo Group and wants to acquire a portion of its shares."
Huo Zhenhong's expression changed. "This..."
