Chapter 304 Wedding Turmoil
A sea breeze blew across the terrace as Fang Lanxin sat in a wicker chair, holding a cup of black tea.
This is a seaside villa, far from the hustle and bustle of the port city.
She and Guan Jingshen have been living here for almost a month.
I sleep until I naturally wake up every day, then go for a walk on the beach, or stay at home reading.
They lived a leisurely and carefree life.
Guan Jingshen came out of the house, holding a document in his hand.
"Lanxin, take a look at this."
Fang Lanxin took the document and opened it.
It is a wedding planning proposal.
She paused for a moment.
"Jing Shen, what is this?"
"Wedding planning." Guan Jingshen sat down beside her. "I want to give you a grand wedding."
Fang Lanxin closed the file.
I don't want to have a wedding.
Guan Jingshen frowned.
"Why"
“It’s too much trouble,” Fang Lanxin said. “Besides, at our age, what’s the point of having a wedding?”
"Lanxin, I owe you a wedding." Guan Jingshen held her hand. "I want the whole world to know that you are my wife."
Fang Lanxin looked at him.
Guan Jingshen's eyes were very serious.
She sighed.
"Jing Shen, I really don't want to do it."
"Why"
“Because I’m tired,” Fang Lanxin said. “I’ve spent the first half of my life socializing with those people, and now that I’ve finally found some peace and quiet, I don’t want to go back to that circle.”
Guan Jingshen remained silent.
He understood what Fang Lanxin meant.
But he still felt a little disappointed.
“Lanxin, even if we don’t have a big wedding, we can still have a small one,” Guan Jingshen said. “We’ll only invite our closest relatives.”
Fang Lanxin shook her head.
"Jing Shen, isn't the way things are now good enough?"
"But……"
“No buts.” Fang Lanxin interrupted him. “Jing Shen, I know what you mean. But I really don’t want to have a wedding.”
Guan Jingshen looked at her and finally gave in.
"Okay, then we won't do it."
Fang Lanxin breathed a sigh of relief.
She stood up and walked to the railing.
The waves crashed against the rocks, making a rhythmic sound.
Guan Jingshen walked up behind her and hugged her from behind.
"Lanxin, are you still worried about something?"
Fang Lanxin leaned against him.
"No."
"You're lying," Guan Jingshen said. "We've known each other for so long, don't you think I can't see through your intentions?"
Fang Lanxin fell silent.
After a long while, she finally spoke.
"Jing Shen, I just feel that weddings don't mean anything to me."
"I spent the first half of my life living for others."
"For the Huo family, for the children."
"Right now, I just want to live for myself."
"I don't want to be bound by those red tape anymore."
Guan Jingshen felt a pang of sadness after hearing this.
He turned Fang Lanxin around so that she would face him.
"Lanxin, I understand."
"Then we won't have a wedding."
"But you have to promise me one thing."
"What's up"
“Let me give you a proposal ceremony,” Guan Jingshen said. “Just the two of us, no one else is needed.”
Fang Lanxin looked at him.
Guan Jingshen's eyes were full of anticipation.
She smiled.
"good."
Three days later.
Guan Jingshen mysteriously led Fang Lanxin to a yacht.
The yacht was anchored in the bay, with no other boats around.
Fang Lanxin stood on the deck, looking around.
"Jing Shen, what are you trying to do?"
"Wait," Guan Jingshen smiled.
The sun slowly set, and the horizon was tinged with gold.
The sea surface shimmered.
Guan Jingshen walked up to Fang Lanxin and knelt down on one knee.
He took a ring box out of his pocket.
Open it, and inside is a diamond ring.
"Lanxin, I love you."
"I fell in love with you the first time I saw you twenty years ago."
"I've been waiting all these years."
"Wait until you see my feelings."
"Now, I've finally waited for this moment."
"Lanxin, marry me."
Fang Lanxin looked at Guan Jingshen kneeling on the ground.
The setting sun cast its light upon him, giving him a golden glow.
Her eyes reddened.
"Jing Shen, you idiot."
“I’m a fool.” Guan Jingshen laughed. “A fool who’s been foolish for you for twenty years.”
Fang Lanxin reached out her hand.
Guan Jingshen put the ring on her ring finger.
Then he stood up and pulled her into his arms.
"Lanxin, thank you."
"Thank you for agreeing to marry me."
Fang Lanxin leaned against him.
"Jing Shen, I love you too."
The two embraced.
The sea breeze carries the salty taste of the sea.
The sun gradually sank below the horizon.
The sky turned deep blue.
One by one, the stars lit up.
Guan Jinshen loosened his grip on Fang Lanxin.
"Lanxin, although we're not having a wedding, I still want to give you a surprise."
What surprise?
Guan Jingshen pulled her into the cabin.
The cabin was decorated romantically.
Roses and candles were everywhere.
An exquisite dinner was laid out on the table.
"Jing Shen, when did you prepare this?"
“These past few days,” Guan Jingshen said, “I wanted to give you an unforgettable night.”
Fang Lanxin smiled.
"You're always so good at sweet-talking people."
"I'm just trying to coax you."
The two sat down and began to enjoy their dinner.
Halfway through the meal, Fang Lanxin's phone rang.
It was Kenneth Fok who called.
"Mom, where are you?"
"At sea," Fang Lanxin said. "What's wrong?"
"Mom, I heard that Guan Yu is going to hold a wedding for you."
Fang Lanxin was stunned for a moment.
How did you know?
"Guan Yu's secretary told me," Huo Qibang said. "Mom, are you really getting married?"
"Um."
"That's wonderful!" Huo Qibang was delighted. "Mom, when is the wedding? I need to start preparing."
"No wedding."
"Ah!" Huo Qibang was stunned. "Why?"
“Because I don’t want to do it,” Fang Lanxin said. “Qibang, your mother just wants to live a simple life now.”
"But Mother..."
“No buts.” Fang Lanxin interrupted him. “Qibang, all you need to know is that your mother is very happy.”
Kenneth Fok remained silent.
"Alright, if Mom doesn't want to do it, then we won't."
"But Mother, you must promise me one thing."
"What's up"
“When you return to Hong Kong, you must bring Guan Yu to our home for dinner,” Fok Kai-pong said. “I want to thank him properly for taking care of you.”
Fang Lanxin smiled.
"Okay, I promise you."
After hanging up the phone, Fang Lanxin looked at Guan Jingshen.
"Your secretary told Qibang."
Guan Jingshen was somewhat embarrassed.
"When I asked him to prepare the wedding planner, he probably thought I was going to have a wedding."
"So I told Qibang."
Fang Lanxin shook her head.
"Never mind, Qibang already knows anyway."
"Lanxin, don't be angry."
"Why are you angry?" Fang Lanxin said. "Qibang is my son, it doesn't matter if he knows."
Guan Jingshen breathed a sigh of relief.
"That's good."
The two continued eating.
After finishing their meal, Guan Jingshen pulled Fang Lanxin onto the deck.
The night sky is dotted with stars.
The starlight was reflected on the sea.
"Lanxin, look." Guan Jingshen pointed to the sky.
Fang Lanxin looked up.
Fireworks suddenly appeared in the sky.
One by one they bloomed, illuminating the entire night sky.
"Jing Shen, this is what you prepared."
"Mmm." Guan Jingshen put his arm around her waist. "I want to give you a romantic night."
Fang Lanxin leaned against him, watching the fireworks in the sky.
"Jing Shen, thank you."
"Silly boy, we're husband and wife, no need to say thank you."
The fireworks lasted for more than ten minutes.
Finally, several large characters appeared in the sky.
"Lanxin, I love you."
