Time flies, and before they knew it, it was time for Song Lan to go to the county town to take the medical qualification exam.
Before dawn, Song Lan had a simple breakfast and then pushed her bicycle out of the hospital gate.
"Song Lan!"
Qin Yanzheng's voice came from behind.
Song Lan gripped the handlebars and turned to look at the man in the wheelchair sitting at the entrance of the living room. She heard him say, "I've called a car. Please wait a moment, and the car will take you to the county town."
"I can just ride a bike."
Song Lan declined, not wanting to cause Qin Yanzheng any trouble.
"It's not even dawn yet, I'm worried about you riding your bike there. Listen to me, okay?"
Qin Yanzheng stared intently at the slender figure pushing a bicycle at the gate of the courtyard. His eyes were unusually gentle as he said, "I've already made the call. The bicycle should be here in five minutes at most."
After a moment of silence, Song Lan pushed her bicycle back into the yard, put the kickstand back on, and went into the living room. At that moment, Qin Yanzheng turned his wheelchair to her side. Seeing this, Song Lan asked, "Won't this cause you any trouble?"
"fine."
Qin Yanzheng shook his head, then said, "That's my personal car. I'll pay for the gas later."
"Alright."
Song Lan smiled and said, "Tell the driver to drop me off and then drive back. That way, it won't delay your business."
Upon hearing this, Qin Yanzheng didn't reply. He asked, "Will you finish the exam at noon, or will it continue into the afternoon?"
"The exam will only last for one noon."
Song Lan responded.
"Then I'll have the driver pick you up half an hour before your exam ends."
Hearing Qin Yanzheng say that, Song Lan smiled and shook her head: "No need, I'll just take the bus back. Besides, I want to go to the department store after the exam, so I probably won't get home until mid-afternoon. Oh, right, I reminded my second brother and sister-in-law last night to take Xiao Wu and Xiao Liu to kindergarten this morning and pick them up after school at noon. Please remind them again before they go to school, so they don't forget."
"good."
Qin Yanzheng said this, but what he was really thinking was that he would take the two little ones to kindergarten with Wu Dong when he went to work. He would not eat the communal lunch, and he and Wu Dong would pick up the two little ones after get off work so that his silly younger brother and silly younger sister would not forget about the twins.
It's not that he's overly cautious; it's that he's afraid of the worst-case scenario.
The couple chatted in the living room for about two or three minutes when the sound of brakes came from the gate. Qin Yanzheng looked towards the gate and said, "The car is here. Come on, I'll watch you get in."
Before Song Lan could speak, Wu Dong pushed Qin Yanzheng out of the living room.
"be safe!"
After saying something to the driver, Qin Yanzheng waved to Song Lan and said, "Don't be nervous when answering the questions. Believe in yourself, you can do it."
Song Lan, sitting in the passenger seat, found it amusing upon hearing this, but still responded through the half-open car window, "Yeah, I'm not nervous." Was he treating her like a child?
It's just a simple test, not like she's going through hell and high water. What's there for her to be nervous about?
The car started and drove away under the watchful eyes of Qin Yanzheng and Wu Dong.
"I'm a little worried."
Qin Yanzheng suddenly said something.
Upon hearing this, Wu Dong's lips twitched: "Comrade Song Lan is both smart and skilled, what is there to worry about?"
Qin Yanzheng frowned slightly: "Even a thoroughbred horse can stumble. No matter how capable my wife is, she's still just a girl under twenty. What if she runs into some troublemakers in the county town, or a kidnapping gang?"
"Can't you think of Comrade Song Lan in a better light?"
Wu Dong's lips twitched again, and he couldn't help but find it funny. He said, "With Comrade Song Lan's skills, even if she encounters six or seven thugs causing trouble at once, dealing with them is no problem."
As for encountering a human trafficking gang, I'm afraid Comrade Song Lan would be able to tie them up and take them to the nearest police station before they even commit a crime. However, I think Comrade Song Lan's luck isn't as bad as you say; he just went to the county town to take an exam and encountered a series of misfortunes.”
Pushing Qin Yanzheng back to the living room, Wu Dong asked, "Do you want to go back to your room and lie down for a while?"
"No, thank you."
As soon as Qin Yanzheng finished speaking, Qin Boyan, Qin Yaxin, and the two little ones appeared in the living room one after another.
"Brother, has my sister-in-law left?"
Qin Yaxin asked.
"Um."
Qin Yanzheng nodded.
"Then let's go exercise in the yard." Qin Yaxin said, following behind Qin Boyan, and called to the two little ones who were still half asleep to follow. The four of them, two adults and two children, quickly disappeared outside the living room door.
"Once I can move freely again, I will learn martial arts with them."
Qin Yanzheng's skills were actually quite good, but he could tell that compared to Song Lan, his abilities were nothing to boast about. Therefore, ever since he learned that Qin Boyan and the others, including Wu Dong, were learning martial arts from Song Lan, he was itching to join in. He wished he could immediately return to normal so he could join them.
Song Lan had prepared breakfast.
After finishing their exercise, Qin Boyan and the other three quickly washed up, changed into their clothes, and had breakfast with Qin Yanzheng and Wu Dong. Then, they quickly washed the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and left the house together.
The two children were sent to kindergarten by Qin Yanzheng and Wu Dong.
"Second brother, do you think sister-in-law will pass the exam smoothly?"
On the way to school, Qin Yaxin suddenly asked Qin Boyan.
"You don't have confidence in your sister-in-law?"
Qin Boyan snorted coldly and said, "Don't you know how good your sister-in-law's medical skills are?"
"Okay, I was just worrying unnecessarily!"
Qin Yaxin said, "Once my sister-in-law gets her medical license, she'll be a proper doctor. I need to think of a gift to celebrate with her."
"That's a good idea."
Qin Boyan strongly agreed.
"What would you like to give your sister-in-law, second brother?"
Qin Yaxin asked.
"I'm thinking about it."
Qin Boyan replied casually.
"My sister-in-law seems to have everything, and so far I've only saved five yuan in my pocket."
Qin Yaxin muttered to herself, when suddenly a brilliant idea flashed through her mind. She exclaimed happily, "I've got it! I should buy my sister-in-law a scarf. A few days ago, my classmates and I went to the supply and marketing cooperative during the afternoon break..."
I saw some newly arrived scarves, and the quality and colors were excellent. When I asked the price, they were four yuan and fifty cents each, which seemed quite expensive, so I didn't buy any. But I'll buy some this afternoon to give to my sister-in-law!
Qin Boyan remained silent.
Qin Yaxin asked, "Second brother, what color do you think we should buy? I think red, purple, and yellow all look nice!"
Qin Boyan: "Red and purple are both fine."
"Then I'll buy red. Anyway, my sister-in-law has fair skin and is pretty. She'll look absolutely stunning with a red scarf around her neck!"
Qin Yaxin paused for a moment before continuing, "The supply and marketing cooperative also sells a kind of ordinary scarf, which costs only two yuan each. I think it looks low-class, but several of my female classmates have bought one."
"Two yuan is not cheap."
Qin Boyan offered a comment: "Villagers can buy quite a lot of things with two yuan."
"I know."
Qin Yaxin said, "What the villagers want is tangible benefits."
