Song Lan remained calm. Based on her understanding of prices in that era, she quietly explained to Qin Yaqing the approximate monthly income and expenses of the Wen family. Finally, she said:
"It is evident that the Wen family had a heavy burden, and Wen Qiming was neither the eldest nor the youngest. As people often say, in a family, the eldest is usually favored over the youngest, leaving the one in the middle to suffer."
Of course, this is not absolute. After all, with more children, parents inevitably overlook some of them in their daily lives. But then again, the one in the middle is undoubtedly the easiest to overlook.
