"Xiao Wu, would you like some water?"
Li Jumei kept working with her hands, glanced at the adorable little boy Xiao Wu, and casually asked with a smile.
"Auntie, I'm not thirsty."
The adorable little boy shook his head, then asked Li Jumei, "Auntie, when are my sister-in-law and second brother coming back?"
"Missing your sister-in-law and second brother?"
Li Jumei's eyes were full of smiles. Seeing the adorable little boy nod, she said, "It'll be soon."
When is "soon"?
Little Wu, the adorable child, was still completely confused.
"I should be home by tomorrow afternoon."
Li Jumei responded with a smile.
“My eldest sister is already an adult. Doesn’t she know how to go home by herself? Why do my sister-in-law and second brother have to pick her up?”
The adorable little boy, Xiao Wu, frowned. He had even given up playing with the tin frog and sat down on a small stool against the wall, resting his chin on his hands, looking rather unhappy.
There must be some reason.
Song Lan didn't mention Qin Yaqing much in front of Li Jumei and Song Sanhe, only saying that Qin Yaqing had gone to the countryside in Heilongjiang Province several years ago.
As for her affair with Wen Qiming, Song Lan didn't mention a word about it.
It wasn't about having any reservations; Song Lan felt it was a matter of personal privacy. Even if her parents or other close relatives were listening, she felt uneasy about it.
This is disrespectful to Qin Yaqing, the person involved.
What could be the reason?
The adorable little boy, Xiao Wu, gave a soft "humph" and said, "Although I've never met my eldest sister, I've heard my second brother and sister mention her a lot at home. Auntie, I don't like my eldest sister, not at all!"
Upon hearing this, Li Jumei paused in her actions, looking puzzled. "Why? You're just a little kid, you've never even met your older sister, why don't you like her?"
"She's bad!"
With tears welling up in her eyes, the adorable little girl, Xiao Wu, said, "My mother was sick and hospitalized. My second brother wrote to my eldest sister, but she didn't come back to visit my mother, nor did she write a letter or send a telegram home..."
Sniffling, the adorable little boy, Xiao Wu, held back the tears welling up in his eyes and continued, "Dad and my eldest brother aren't here. Xiao Liu, my second brother, my second sister, my sister-in-law, and I are staying by Mom's bedside waiting for my eldest sister."
But... but my eldest sister never showed up until Mom left us...
I was so sad, so very sad!
Tears eventually fell. Little Wu noticed and quickly wiped them away with his little hands, saying, "Auntie, I didn't mean to cry, I really didn't mean to, but the tears just wouldn't listen and kept falling, boohoo..."
Li Jumei could no longer sit still. She put down the sweater she was knitting, got up, went to the child's side, bent down, and picked him up.
"Auntie knows, Auntie knows, Xiao Wu is the best. It's your little bean that's being naughty and trying to run away."
Li Jumei patted the child's back gently as she spoke.
The adorable little Wu leaned on her shoulder, crying louder and louder:
"I hate my older sister! She's wicked, she never comes home to see Mom, I hate her!"
Hearing crying coming from the living room, Qin Yaxin and her younger sister Qin Yaxuan soon appeared.
Qin Yaxin opened her mouth, wanting to say something to comfort her younger brother, but she didn't know what to say.
It's simply because she also dislikes her older sister, Qin Yaqing.
The little girl, Qin Yaxuan, stood beside her, listening to her little brother's cries. As if infected by his cries, large, golden tears soon fell from her eyes.
"Your aunt thinks your older sister is probably tied up with something, which is why she hasn't been able to come home yet. Why don't you wait until she gets back and ask her yourself?"
The adorable little boy, Xiao Wu, cried so hard he hiccuped, which made Li Jumei feel sorry for him, so she gave the little guy some advice.
"...Mmm...hiccup..."
The child nods his head.
Li Jumei's feelings were complicated at this moment. She couldn't understand what could be so important that she couldn't come back even when her own mother was critically ill.
Even if it's far away, can't we take that kind of train?
Even if something really happens and he can't come back, surely he has time to write a letter or send a telegram?
As it turns out, the sister-in-law failed to do any of those things, no wonder the little one in her arms was so resistant to her.
-
When the train arrived at the station, Song Lan and the other two took a bus to the town, and then transferred to another bus in the town to get off at the Hongxing Machinery Factory stop.
"This is the machine factory?"
Looking at the tall gates and iron fences along the roadside, Qin Yaqing asked Song Lan.
"Can't you see the big characters on the storefront?"
Before Song Lan could speak, Qin Boyan said something, and his tone didn't sound very good.
To be honest, from the moment he returned to the machinery factory from Qiaoxingtun, his attitude towards Qin Yaqing had never been good, even though he apologized on the train out of consideration for Song Lan.
But he still didn't like Qin Yaqing, his older sister.
"I was careless and didn't see it."
Is Qin Yaqing feeling upset?
Of course she felt bad, but she knew why Qin Boyan acted that way, so how could she harbor resentment?
She...she has no right, no right to complain about Qin Boyan.
After all, she was in the wrong first, and now she deserves to be disliked by her family!
"Second brother, if you continue to treat your eldest sister like that, don't blame me for giving you a lesson when we get home!"
Song Lan glanced at Qin Boyan: "Do you know what our family rules are?"
Qin Boyan shook his head blankly.
“I made a leather whip. If you little ones are not united and only know how to bully yourselves, and if your eldest brother and I can’t persuade you, then you’ll be waiting for this whip.”
Song Lan smiled and said, "You can also call it an education based on love!"
"..."
Qin Boyan looked shocked. He opened his mouth, but couldn't utter a single syllable for a long time.
