It wasn't that she looked down on her daughter Song Ning, but that brat simply couldn't cook noodles. She didn't want to see a pot of mushy noodles later.
-
"Bad mood?"
On the way home, Qin Yanzheng noticed that Song Lan remained silent, and his dark eyes couldn't help but fill with concern: "Did they make you suffer any injustice?"
Without a doubt, the "them" he was referring to were the Song Ning and Song Jiaojiao sisters.
After all, Song Lan was called away by Song Ning, and Song Jiaojiao left the living room with her.
"I'm not in a bad mood."
Song Lan shook her head and said with a smile, "There is no one who can make me feel wronged."
"You haven't said anything, I thought..."
Qin Yanzheng did not say what happened next.
Song Lan understood what he meant and felt a warmth in her heart. She said, "Don't overthink it. I just feel a little tired and don't want to talk."
"Go back to your room and take a nap as soon as you get home."
Qin Yanzheng said, "I'll cook lunch. Besides, my younger sister and brother are here too, so you won't go hungry."
"I'm not a good-for-nothing."
Song Lan found it somewhat amusing.
She won't go hungry even if she misses a meal or two.
"That's not what I meant." Qin Yanzheng took Song Lan's hand and squeezed it, then smiled and said, "I was just joking." In reality, he just wanted to make her laugh.
"We're outside, let go of me."
Song Lan lowered her voice, trying to pull her hand out of the man's palm. Noticing her movement, Qin Yanzheng smiled, released her hand, and said, "Actually, there's no need to be so careful."
"It's too late once someone starts watching you."
Song Lan didn't want anything to happen because of her conduct.
"Too."
Qin Yanzheng nodded: "You've thought things through very well."
Although people are not as careful about their words and actions as they were a few years ago, even couples should not be too casual about holding hands or hugging in the street.
If someone speaks out, at best they'll lose their job, at worst... they might be sent to some remote, unknown place for reformation.
Song Lan: "We're having noodles with minced meat sauce for lunch. We still have a lot of chives and scallions left from yesterday's washing, so we can just use some. There's also some fried tofu in the cupboard. When we get home, we'll soak some wood ear mushrooms and daylily buds. It won't take long to make this lunch."
Qin Yanzheng: "Since everything is readily available, there's no need for you to go to the kitchen to help out."
"Are you sure you don't need my help?"
Song Lan asked with a smile.
"You just need to rest well."
Qin Yanzheng's tone was full of tenderness: "Ever since I woke up from my coma, you have been working tirelessly for the family, big and small. Now that it's the New Year, you finally have a two-day holiday. Listen to me, you can rest and do nothing. Give me a chance to show my abilities."
"Alright, then do your best!"
Song Lan smiled radiantly, just as Qin Yanzheng was looking at her, and he was momentarily lost in thought.
"What's wrong?"
Seeing the man staring at her and forgetting to continue walking, Song Lan couldn't help but ask.
My wife is so beautiful!
Qin Yanzheng replied without hesitation.
Song Lan blushed, gave the other person a coquettish look, and said, "Let's go, Dad and my younger sister are waiting at home!"
quickened her pace, creating distance between herself and the man to ease her discomfort.
Qin Yanzheng caught up, a smile playing on his dark eyes, and asked knowingly, "Are you embarrassed?"
Why should I feel embarrassed?
She was a little uncomfortable, but she wouldn't admit it.
A low chuckle escaped Qin Yanzheng's lips.
Song Lan immediately glared at the other person and said, "Is it funny?"
"No, I just think my wife is cute."
In Qin Yanzheng's eyes, Song Lan's impression of her was mostly one of elegance and tranquility. It was truly rare to see her reveal the delicate charm of a young girl.
"Speak properly."
Is it really appropriate to describe her as cute?
Song Lan thought to herself, "She's an adult, not a three-year-old!"
"I am speaking properly."
Qin Yanzheng glanced at Song Lan with a smile.
"Can't you be serious for once?"
Song Lan's face remained hot for a long time. She felt that it was all the man's fault, but she couldn't do anything about it.
"Honey, point out where I've been improper, and I'll change."
With a slight smile on his handsome face, Qin Yanzheng couldn't help but take Song Lan's slender hand in his palm when they were only about twenty meters away from his own courtyard gate. He said, "We're at the gate now. It's okay if someone sees us."
"don't want."
Song Lan tried to pull her hand away.
Qin Yanzheng pretended not to hear, a smile playing on his lips, and he tightened his grip on his wife's hand as he led her into the courtyard.
"Dad, Dad, my older brother and sister-in-law are back!"
The two little ones were playing in the yard when they heard footsteps coming from the gate. They both looked over and saw Song Lan and Qin Yanzheng. The adorable little one, Xiao Wu, immediately called out towards the living room.
"Big brother, sister-in-law!"
The little girl, Qin Yaxuan, stood up, looked at Song Lan and the other person, and called out sweetly.
"It's cold outside, come inside and play in the living room."
Qin Yanzheng released her hand, and Song Lan waved to the little girl before leading her into the living room.
Qin Yanzheng followed behind, carrying the adorable baby Xiao Wu.
"You're so old and you still want me to hug you? Aren't you ashamed?"
Qin Yanzheng tapped the little guy's nose and asked with a smile.
"I'm the younger brother, it's nothing for the older brother to hug me."
Little Wu, the adorable child, doesn't think it's shameful to be carried by his older brother; he only knows that he's still a child.
"I'm back."
Qin's father was sitting in the living room reading the newspaper when he saw Song Lan and Qin Yanzheng enter. He greeted them with a smile.
"Big brother, sister-in-law."
