Grandpa Chen snorted, gave Song Lan a few more instructions, and then said, "You should rest well in your dormitory today, and go back to work tomorrow morning."
"Okay, I understand!"
Song Lan responded with a smile.
After seeing Grandpa Chen into the car and watching it drive away, Song Lan turned to Dean Su and asked for his opinion: "How about I go take a look around the inpatient department now?"
"I'm not planning to lie down in the dorm for a while. You just arrived today, and you must be exhausted after sitting on the train for several hours..."
Dean Su spoke gently, but before he could finish, Song Lan interrupted him with a smile: "I'm not tired. Besides, my grandfather picked me up from the train and took me home to rest for more than half an hour. I'm full of energy right now!"
"I see... Alright, come with me to the inpatient department, and I'll tell you about those four old guys."
As Dean Su led Song Lan toward the inpatient department, he explained the current situation of the four people. Song Lan listened attentively to what Dean Su said.
"That's roughly the situation. After you've examined them and reviewed their previous X-rays, we'll see if we're confident in performing the surgery."
Dean Su said this because he didn't want to put pressure on Song Lan. Hearing this, Song Lan nodded and said, "Okay."
It should be noted that the four elderly comrades who would need Song Lan's examination, and who might even require Song Lan to perform surgery to remove the bullet fragments, could easily be accommodated in the highest-level suite wards given their rank and status.
Unexpectedly, since the four of them lived in the same compound, in order to avoid being bored during their hospital stay, they did not choose to stay in a suite by themselves, but instead stayed in a regular ward with four beds.
Dean Su pushed open the ward door. The four elderly comrades, who were chatting happily, stopped talking as soon as they heard the door open. They looked at the door and, upon seeing Dean Su, immediately resumed their lively conversation.
"Can't you old guys just be quiet for once?"
With a slight frown, Dean Su feigned displeasure and said, "This is a hospital, not your home. If you keep chatting like this, believe me, I'll call some of your wives and have them come and discipline you."
"casual."
"We were just chatting, and we weren't talking loudly, so don't go looking for trouble!"
"That's right, we've just started chatting. If you don't even give us this much face, believe me, we old guys will come and spar with you later!"
"Ignore that old guy, let's talk about our own things."
The four elderly comrades, like playful old children, chatted about their own things in their own comfortable positions, either lying down or sitting on the bed, but none of them forgot to tease Dean Su.
When they were criticizing Dean Su, none of them turned around to look, so they were unaware that Song Lan had followed Dean Su into the ward.
"I brought a young comrade with me. You elders can ignore me, but you've also ignored Lanlan. Believe me, when Old Chen finds out, he'll make sure you old folks regret it!"
As soon as Dean Su said this, the ward became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
The four elderly comrades slowly turned their heads, and when they saw the pretty figure standing next to Dean Su, their old faces became somewhat embarrassed. One of them chuckled and said:
"Child, I am your Grandpa Lu. I was a brother of your grandfather in the same trench. It was my fault for not seeing you just now, so I couldn't greet you immediately. Please don't be offended!"
Song Lan smiled and said, "Hello, Grandpa Lu, you don't need to be so polite with me."
"Those three old guys are your Grandpa He, Grandpa Luo, and Grandpa Jiang."
Dean Su introduced Song Lan.
Upon hearing this, Song Lan continued, "Hello, Grandpa He, Grandpa Luo, Grandpa Jiang."
"Your name is Lanlan, right?"
Grandpa Jiang asked Song Lan.
"Yes, my full name is Song Lan."
Song Lan responded with a smile.
"I've heard your grandfather mention your name before. He said he had a granddaughter who was more beautiful than a fairy. Now it seems that your grandfather was telling the truth!"
Grandpa Jiang praised Song Lan's good looks, and the other three grandpas nodded in agreement. Grandpa Lu said:
"Lanlan is such a bright and clever girl, and she's so beautiful. I'll have to talk to my husband Lu Zhan about making friends with her."
Grandpa He glared at Grandpa Lu: "Old Lu, what are you thinking? Do you think only your family has a son? If you ask me, Lanlan and my He Ye look like a perfect match."
"You two old geezers, shut your mouths! My Rosen is the perfect match for Lanlan. You two just wait to drink at her wedding!"
Grandpa Luo also chimed in.
"What are you two arguing about? My Yunzhen and Dongsheng are closer than brothers. Lanlan should be a perfect match for my Yunzhen."
After all, Dongsheng knows my Yunzhen well, and he definitely knows how good Yunzhen's character is. He won't bully Lanlan after we get married!
Grandpa Jiang spoke with a smug look on his face, completely ignoring the glares directed at him by Grandpa Lu and the other two.
Song Lan looked visibly uncomfortable, but she remained poised and said, "Grandpa Lu, Grandpa He, Grandpa Luo, Grandpa Jiang, didn't my grandfather tell you? Actually, I'm married and have two children."
"Did that old bastard Chen mention this?"
Old Master Lu looked at his three old friends, Old Master Luo, Old Master He, and Old Master Jiang, and saw that they were all frowning and thinking in unison. He couldn't help but turn his gaze back to Song Lan:
"Child, are you really married and have two children?"
"Um."
Song Lan nodded with a smile.
"You look like you're not even twenty yet, am I mistaken?"
Grandpa Lu believed that he was still sharp-eyed and could not possibly be unable to tell the age of a little girl.
