"Scared?"
Song Lan asked.
Qin Boyan nodded vigorously.
How could I not be afraid?
A whip is used!
Sister-in-law, with your weak body, wouldn't the whip in your hands tear people apart?
Thinking of this, Qin Boyan shook his head repeatedly in his heart. He had a thousand, ten thousand reasons not to seek out torture!
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have talked to you like that."
He apologized to Qin Yaqing, then looked at Song Lan and said, "Sister-in-law, let's hurry up, Xiao Wu and Xiao Liu must miss their second brother terribly!"
Are you sure they miss you more than they miss me?
Song Lan's eyes were playful, and she said meaningfully, "Why don't you ask when we get home?"
"No, no, no, that's not necessary!"
Qin Boyan waved his hand hastily and said with an embarrassed smile, "Sister-in-law is more charming than me. Those two little ones probably don't even care about me. They only care about you!"
"There's no need to exaggerate like that."
Song Lan smiled, beckoned Qin Yaqing to follow, and then said to Qin Boyan, "They've been away from home for several days. I wonder if they've been behaving well at home."
"Don't worry, sister-in-law, Xiao Wu and Xiao Liu are very sensible and will definitely not cause trouble for your aunt."
Xiao Wu is a bit mischievous, but he's not a brat.
Xiao Liu has always been well-behaved and sensible, and would never do anything to annoy adults.
"I hope they and my second sister didn't cause any trouble."
Song Lan quickened her pace slightly and occasionally introduced the relevant information about the old and new residential compounds of the machinery factory to Qin Yaqing.
-
"Mom! We're back!"
As they approached the courtyard gate, Song Lan's voice rang out, and in the blink of an eye, Li Jumei hurriedly walked out of the living room.
She spotted Song Lan immediately and asked, "Was everything alright on the road?"
"Nothing happened."
Song Lan responded with a smile.
Unexpectedly, Qin Boyan suddenly spoke up: "Auntie, the journey there was smooth, but on the way back, my sister-in-law encountered human traffickers on the train."
Thankfully, my sister-in-law is very agile; otherwise, she might have really been mistaken for a daughter-in-law and taken off the train by human traffickers.
"Second brother!"
Song Lan called out to Qin Boyan, her tone noticeably harsher.
"This isn't something I made up, and you weren't actually a victim of human traffickers, sister-in-law."
Qin Boyan muttered to himself.
"Human traffickers?"
Li Jumei snapped out of her shock. Even though she had seen her daughter standing right in front of her, she was still terrified. She asked, "Lanlan, did you really encounter human traffickers?"
"Um."
Song Lan nodded, walked into the living room, put down her handbag, and explained Qin Boyan's words in a few more details. Finally, she smiled and reassured Li Jumei:
"Mom, please don't be nervous. Not to mention that I'm standing right in front of you right now, even when I encountered human traffickers on the train, you can rest assured that I won't be in any danger with my skills."
"How can you be so carefree?!"
Li Jumei patted Song Lan lightly on the back and said, "Anything can happen, and there's an old saying: those who drown are often the best swimmers. Don't think you're fearless just because you're good at swimming!"
"I understand, I'll listen to you and be more careful in the future."
Song Lan had no intention of contradicting her elderly mother. She knew her mother meant well and was advising her not to be too carefree out of concern.
Qin Yaxin and the two children were taking a nap when they vaguely heard noises coming from the living room. The three of them left their room almost at the same time.
Upon entering the living room and seeing Song Lan, they all spontaneously greeted her as "Sister-in-law."
Then he called Qin Boyan "Second Brother" again. When it came to Qin Yaqing, the mouths of the two children seemed to be glued shut, and no one opened their mouths for a long time.
"Don't you recognize your older sister?"
These words were spoken by Song Lan to Qin Yaxin, but Qin Yaxin looked completely innocent: "Sister-in-law, what did you say? Eldest sister? Did I? I don't remember! Where is she? I can't see her!"
"Second Sister!"
Song Lan looked helpless and said, "How have I taught you all this time? Don't tell me you've forgotten it all."
"I haven't forgotten, but I didn't see any older sister."
Qin Yaxin was like air to her.
She was going to ignore him!
Song Lan was almost laughing in anger, but she managed to control herself.
He shifted his gaze to the two younger ones and said, "Little Five, Little Six, this is your eldest sister, hurry up and say hello!"
"..."
The young girl, Qin Yaxuan, pursed her lips and remained silent.
The adorable little boy, Xiao Wu, took two steps closer to Qin Yaqing with his short legs, looked up at her, and uttered in his childish voice:
"You're my older sister? The one who went to the countryside?"
Qin Yaqing nodded.
"Then can you tell me why you didn't go home when your mother was seriously ill?"
The adorable little boy, Xiao Wu, said with a serious face, "Your second brother wrote you a letter saying that Mom is seriously ill, but you didn't come home. Did you not receive that letter?"
Qin Yaqing's eyes were almost overflowing with guilt and self-blame. She shook her head and said, "I...I received the letter."
"Now that you've received the letter, why don't you come home!"
The adorable little boy, Xiao Wu, stared intently at Qin Yaqing.
"I……"
Qin Yaqing didn't know what to say.
"If you can't come back because of something, why didn't you reply to my letter or send a telegram?"
The adorable little boy, Xiao Wu, turned angry: "Isn't Mommy important to you?"
Qin Yaqing shook her head, her eyes filled with tears of guilt and self-reproach. She said, "I don't have any money to buy a train ticket."
Little Wu, the adorable child: "Don't you even have money to send letters and telegrams?"
"No, I don't have a single penny on me."
Qin Yaqing was in tears.
"When you left, not counting the pocket money you had, you also took several hundred yuan from your parents' room drawer. How did you spend so much money?"
