At 5:30 in the afternoon, Lin Yongnian, Lin Guodong and Junjun returned home. They both looked tired and their faces looked ugly.
Today the whole factory was talking about Lin Yongnian's divorce, and some people even made fun of him in person. We have never been so embarrassed in our lives.
"Lao Lin, Shuping has moved out. She asked me to give you the key." When Aunt Wang saw them coming back, she came over and gave Lin Yongnian the key that Old Lady Li asked her to pass on.
Lin Yongnian looked at the key tied to the red rope, feeling a little dazed.
"What are you standing there for? Go on." Mother Wang urged.
Lin Yongnian reached out and took it.
Lin Guodong sneered, "My mother pretended to be very good. She didn't even want the key."
Having lost someone in the factory today, Lin Guodong was very resentful towards Old Lady Li.
"Pretend, what do you mean by pretend?" Wang's mother said unhappily, "Your mother really doesn't want to live with your family and serve you anymore. She moved today and bought a whole set of new furniture."
If it was really for decoration, who would spend so much money on buying new furniture?
Lin Guodong: "If it wasn't Aunt Wang, how could my mother serve us? What you said is too harsh."
"Who cooks in your family? Who washes the clothes? Who buys the vegetables? Who does the hygiene?" Mother Wang asked questions one after another.
"..." Lin Guodong choked and quickly explained: "That's because my mother doesn't work anymore. She's the only one who has nothing to do at home. If she doesn't do these things, who will? We all have to go to work."
Wang's mother laughed, "While your mother was at work, who among you did these things?"
Lin Guodong: “…”
"How do you take care of my mother?" Mother Wang imitated Lin Guodong's tone of voice.
Lin Guodong's face flushed red in an instant.
"Without Shuping in your family, I want to see how you can live." After saying this, Wang's mother turned and left.
Lin Yongnian's face darkened. "It must be your mother who told your mother Wang that our family can't survive without her. It's as if our family depends entirely on her, Li Shuping, and she's the one who has given the most and worked the hardest. Without her, our family will fall apart."
"I have to let your mother see that our family can still live well without her!" Lin Yongnian raised his voice and said to Wang's mother's back.
At 6:30 in the afternoon, Lin Xiaoyu stood at the gate of Yard 23, clutching her schoolbag. She took two deep breaths and was about to go in when a man taller than her ran out and bumped into her, causing her to fall flat on her butt.
"Ouch..." Lin Xiaoyu cried out in pain.
When the man saw that he had bumped into someone, he turned his head to look at her and then ran away.
It was this one glance that allowed Lin Xiaoyu to see who had bumped into her.
He is Qin Ye, a famous gangster in the area. His family calls him Ye Gou. It is said that his father named him Qin Ye Gou, but the people living in the area thought Ye Gou did not sound nice, so they removed the word "dog" from his name.
(Qin Ye: Thank you to the household registration police.)
“Don’t run, little brat…” A middle-aged man reeking of alcohol chased out.
When he reached the door, he could no longer run. He leaned against the door frame to catch his breath. When he saw Lin Xiaoyu lying on the ground, he asked, "Where's the stray dog?"
Lin Xiaoyu was a little scared. She swallowed hard and pointed to the right side of the alley, stammering, "He ran, ran over there."
"Damn you bastard, I'm going to break your legs when I get back." The man cursed with gnashing teeth.
In the afternoon, Mrs. Li bought vegetables, rice and noodles at the supply and marketing cooperative. She also bought a kerosene stove and a coal stove. She used the coal stove to boil water and cook rice, and the kerosene stove to cook vegetables.
The rice is almost steamed and the dishes are ready, just waiting for the kids to come home from school and cook them.
Mrs. Li stood at the kitchen door and looked at the sky. "At this time of the day, you should be home."
Old Mrs. Li closed the kitchen door and planned to go to the courtyard gate to take a look.
Before I got close, I saw my daughter looking back every few steps.
"Xiaoyu, what are you looking at?"
"Mom." Lin Xiaoyu quickly ran to Old Lady Li and said, "I didn't see anything."
Old Mrs. Li glanced toward the door and clearly saw a man sitting on the threshold of the courtyard.
The mother and daughter entered the house. Lin Xiaoyu looked at the new furniture and said excitedly, "Mom, buy all new furniture, including a desk."
Lin Xiaoyu touched the desk. She didn't have a desk at home, so she usually did her homework at the dining table.
The desk is under the window of the house and has good lighting.
Mrs. Li was delighted to see her daughter so happy. "From now on, when you do your homework, just do it on the desk."
"Oh, there's a wardrobe." Old Mrs. Li took her daughter's hand and walked inside, pulled aside the partition curtain, and pointed to the double-door wardrobe.
"Put my clothes on the left and your clothes on the right."
Lin Xiaoyu opened the closet and saw that she didn't have many clothes, neatly placed in the closet. Finally, her clothes were not all piled on the bed. She also had a closet, although she shared it with her mother.
"That's great," she said.
Mrs. Li touched the wardrobe and said, "This wardrobe is really good. It's only fifteen dollars."
In other words, there is an uneven pit behind the wardrobe, which does not affect its use at all.
Lin Xiaoyu said it was not the wardrobe, but it was great to move it out, she now had her own desk and a wardrobe for clothes.
"You do your homework, Mom will go to cook." Old Mrs. Li patted her daughter on the shoulder and went to the kitchen to cook.
Lin Xiaoyu looked at the bunk bed behind her and shook it with her hand. It was very sturdy and did not shake at all. It was better than the bed her third brother slept on at home.
Lin Xiaoyu looked at it in front of the bed and went to the desk to do her homework. She had written some at school during the day, but not much.
Lin Xiaoyu was doing her homework and smelling the delicious food. She found it a wonderful feeling.
Her mother was cooking in the kitchen and she was doing her homework.
In the past, when she came home from school, her mother would ask her to help in the kitchen, or wash the dirty clothes taken off by her father, brother and sister-in-law.
She could only do her homework after dinner. After a while, her parents would say that leaving the lights on wasted electricity and asked her to get up early in the morning to do it.
She has mornings and goes to school early to write.
Lin Xiaoyu was just reminiscing when a wrinkled face suddenly appeared in front of the window.
"Ah..." She screamed in fright.
"What's wrong?" Old Mrs. Li ran out of the kitchen with a shovel and saw Yuan Niang standing in front of her window.
Needless to say, it must have been her standing in front of the window that scared Xiaoyu.
Yuan Xiaoniang: "Shuping, I'm sorry, I saw your daughter doing homework, so I stood there and watched for a while, but I didn't expect to scare your daughter."
"Don't be afraid, Xiaoyu, this is Room No. 1, Grandma Yuan." Old Mrs. Li introduced to her daughter.
Lin Xiaoyu took a deep breath, stood up and greeted, "Hello, Grandma Yuan."
"Hey, good girl." Yuan's mother looked at Lin Xiaoyu with a loving smile, and said to Mrs. Li, "Shuping, your daughter is so beautiful. Be good, do your homework when you get home, and your grades are not bad, right?"
Old Lady Li said proudly, "Not bad, I'm always in the top ten in age."
"That's great. Unlike my grandson, he is terrible at studying and always fails."
"Mom, what can I do for you?" She came over from Room 1. She probably didn't come here specially to see Xiaoyu.
Yuan Xiaoniang: "I'm out of soy sauce, I want to borrow yours."
Chunbao's mother stood in front of her kitchen window, looking at Room 5 opposite, and said to her daughter Zhou Chunbao who was helping her wash vegetables, "It's started. This shameless old woman has started it."
