"Grandpa Li, Grandma Yu, drink some water."
Lin Xiaoyu and her mother placed the cups of tea on the coffee table.
"Thank you." Master Li picked up the cup and took a sip of water to moisten his throat. The tea was very ordinary green tea, with a slightly bitter taste and a sweet aftertaste.
Mr. Li, his wife, Old Lady Mu, and Li Zhenzhen were all sitting on the deck chairs, while Gu Zhenyuan and Li Boyan were sitting on the stools at the two ends.
After serving tea, Li Shuping and Lin Xiaoyu sat on the stools opposite Mr. Li and them.
"What is the matter that brought you to see me today?" Li Shuping asked nervously, rubbing her fingers.
When Li Boyan asked her for something, she wondered if they were here to recognize their relatives.
But on second thought, it seemed impossible. They didn't know that she was the missing Li Yunshu. Apart from some familiarity between them, she had no similarities with the Li family.
Moreover, the Li family should know that she does not have a butterfly birthmark on her body.
The Li family members looked at each other, and finally Li Boyan spoke as a representative, "We came to you to confirm something."
"What's the matter?" Li Shuping's voice trembled.
Gu Zhenyuan frowned, feeling her nervousness.
This was not the first time she had met Uncle Li and the others. They had always gotten along calmly, so why was she so nervous today?
"We suspect you might be my lost sister eleven years ago. I hope you don't find it offensive because you look so much like my late grandmother."
Li Shuping & Lin Xiaoyu: "!!!"
The mother and daughter were so shocked that they stared in shock. They actually came to recognize their relatives?
Mr. Li took out the photo in the envelope from his pocket, took it out and handed it over.
Li Shuping stretched out her hands to take it, her fingertips trembling slightly.
She looked at the two people in the photo, and was immediately attracted by the beauty from the Republic of China on the right. It seemed that the beauty in the photo really looked like her face when she was young.
Lin Xiaoyu looked at the beauty in the photo whom she should call great-grandmother, then looked at her mother and smacked her lips and said, "It really looks like her."
Mr. Li said, "My mother died when I was very young, and she didn't leave any photos. This photo was found by an old friend when he was sorting out old photos. He gave it to me yesterday as a birthday gift."
"We discovered that you look very similar to my mother, so we came here today to confirm whether you are Li Yunshu, my little daughter who disappeared eleven years ago."
"Shuping, can you let me see your back?" Old Mrs. Yu asked Li Shuping with her hands on her chest.
She wanted to see it with her own eyes.
Li Shuping solemnly returned the photo to Master Li and said, "Wait a moment."
She got up and went back to the bedroom to take out the old newspaper from her leather bag.
Before they had waited two minutes, Li Shuping came out with a half-opened newspaper in her hand.
Li Shuping sat back on the stool and handed over the half-sheet of old newspaper in her hand.
Old Mrs. Yu reached out to take it, and her pupils shone when she saw the contents of the newspaper.
"This, this is the old newspaper we placed an ad in to look for Shushu thirty years ago. How did you get here?" Old Mrs. Yu looked at Li Shuping excitedly and asked.
Hearing this, Master Li quickly took the newspaper and read it.
"Yes, this is the missing person notice we put in the newspaper thirty years ago. You..."
Li Shuping's eyes warmed up and she took a deep breath. "I received this old newspaper yesterday. It was given to me by Aunt Jin's daughter, the boss lady who adopted me when I worked in a tailor shop when I was in my teens."
"Aunt Jin passed away a few days ago. Before she died, she said she was sorry for hurting me, and told her daughter to give me the newspaper. When her daughter was sorting out her belongings after her death, she saw this old newspaper..."
By the end, Li Shuping's voice was choked with sobs. She turned her face away, and hot tears fell.
Old Mrs. Yu reached over the coffee table and grabbed Li Shuping's hand. With an expression of disbelief and surprise on her face, her voice trembled, "You, you are Shushu!"
If she was not Shushu, the owner of the tailor shop who took her in to work, why would she have instructed her daughter to give her half of the old newspaper with the missing person notice before she died?
Li Shuping's vision was blurred by tears. She looked at Mrs. Yu's face and cried, "I didn't know I didn't have a butterfly birthmark before. No one told me that I have a scar on my back from a burn with an iron when I was ten years old."
"A few days ago, I went to the hospital to see Aunt Jin who was already seriously ill. When she was confused, she mentioned the burn on my back and said something incoherently that the birthmark was gone and couldn't be found."
"I don't have a butterfly birthmark to prove my identity. Do you still think I'm Shushu?" Li Shuping asked, biting her lower lip.
"You are, you must be my Shushu! You must be!" Old Mrs. Yu said firmly.
She stood up, with her upper body over the coffee table, and hugged her daughter who was more than ten years old and whom she had been thinking about all night.
Li Shuping burst into tears in her arms, "Mom, why are you guys coming? Wuuuuuu..."
It seems like a simple question, but it contains a lot of information, endless sadness and longing, and endless suffering and grievances.
Seeing this scene, Lin Xiaoyu and Li Zhenzhen covered their mouths and started crying.
Mrs. Mu was in a serious state with tears in her eyes. Mr. Li and Li Boyan had red eyes and looked up.
Gu Zhenyuan looked at Li Shuping, who was crying in Aunt Yu's arms with her shoulders shaking, and his heart was shocked. He didn't expect that she was really the Li family's lost daughter, Li Yunshu!
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." Old Mrs. Yu cried and apologized, "It's because I came too late. I found you too late."
If she could have found her Shushu earlier, her Shushu wouldn't have suffered so much and endured so much grievance.
"I'm sorry for you. I lost you, wuwuwu..."
"Sister Yu, calm down. You are not in good health and should not get too excited." Old Mrs. Mu gently pulled Old Mrs. Yu's arm and stroked her back.
Seeing this, Li Zhenzhen hurriedly said, "Grandma Mu is right. Grandma, you can't get too excited. Let go of your aunt first and sit down slowly."
After hearing what they said, Li Shuping was afraid that the old lady would get too excited and something might happen, so she quickly left her arms, wiped her tears and said, "Don't get excited, please sit down."
"It's not you who lost me. There were too many people at the train station, and someone was shooting. It was too chaotic, and we were separated by the chaotic crowd."
"Do you remember everything?" Li Boyan asked with trembling pupils. The newspaper said that she got lost at the train station, but did not say what the circumstances were.
Li Shuping shook her head gently. "I don't remember anything, but when I saw this half of the old newspaper yesterday, I had a dream last night about the situation when we got separated."
"Mom was holding my brother's hand at the time. You were held by a man, and I was held by someone else."
Old Mrs. Yu nodded with tears in her eyes. "Yes, that's right. At that time, the enemy wanted to arrest us, so we followed the comrades who were arranged by the organization to transfer us and took the train to the safe zone."
"You and your brother were too young, so you were held by two comrades. I held your brother's hand. The enemy discovered that we were escaping and chased us to the train station."
"It was really too chaotic at the time. The comrade holding you was separated from us by the crowd. I wanted to find you, but I couldn't squeeze through..."
Li Boyan continued, "The enemy was getting closer and closer at the time, and the situation was very dangerous. I had to hold my uncle and force my mother, who wanted to find you, onto the train, otherwise we wouldn't be able to leave home."
He said this to explain to Li Shuping that no one wanted to abandon her.
