Chapter 12 Jiangcheng Wool Factory - Lin Xiaomeng

"I'm talking nonsense? I'm afraid you're just too embarrassed to admit it."

The middle-aged man completely ignored the woman's scolding, only looking at her with a defiant expression:

"Other families have four or five people crammed into one courtyard, but you, with no children, occupy such a large courtyard all by yourself. Aren't you ashamed?"

"It's just a mattress, you can't dry it in your own big house, so you insist on drying it in front of my yard. Who would believe you don't have ulterior motives?"

The middle-aged woman clutched her chest, clearly furious.

“Shameless! You’re talking nonsense. I live in such a big courtyard because my husband worked his life away to earn it for me. The factory has no objections. Who do you think you are? If you also want to live in such a big courtyard, have your husbands earn it for you. How dare you bully a widow like me? You all have no shame.”

Middle-aged women's words can be quite unpleasant, and the woman standing next to the man is the first to object.

She raised her hand to slap the middle-aged woman.

Lin Wei quickly stepped forward, grabbed the woman's wrist, twisted it, and pushed the woman back.

Upon seeing this, the middle-aged man angrily questioned, "Who are you? This is a staff dormitory. What stranger are you? This is none of your business!"

"Weiwei, Yuanyuan."

"aunt."

That's right, the middle-aged woman who was arguing after her mattress was burned was her aunt, Lin Xiaomeng.

The middle-aged man looked at the two children in front of Lin Xiaomeng and the large bag of luggage on the ground. What didn't he understand?

His anger instantly turned into mockery. "Oh, where did this poor relative come from, with a little boy in tow? Could it be that he knows you have a yard and wants to come and eat your dead child?"

"Why is your mouth so dirty...?"

The middle-aged man interrupted Lin Xiaomeng, saying even more smugly, "Am I wrong? These two kids look like they're from the countryside. This huge bag of luggage must be all your belongings, right? They're either here to steal or to freeload. In short, nothing good is coming from them."

"I told you, a widow living in such a big courtyard, you're bound to run into trouble sooner or later. You can spend your salary wherever you want, it's none of our business, but this is the wool factory's housing. The employees can't live here, but outsiders are allowed to live here instead. Is that reasonable?"

"Are you being unreasonable?" Lin Wei questioned coldly. "You burned my aunt's mattress first, almost causing all the mattresses in this area to catch fire. Now, in order to escape responsibility, you're trying to shift the blame to the house."

"What? Are you just going to let the matter of burning the mattress go by shifting the blame?" Lin Wei shouted directly. "Listen up, neighbors! Today this person burned my aunt's mattress. If this isn't dealt with, he'll get emboldened and might burn down my aunt's house tomorrow. There are houses all connected here, and nobody can say for sure which family will be implicated."

"Burning things is a minor issue. If an adult is working the night shift and the child is sleeping at home, it could be dangerous if they don't notice in time. Everyone knows how soundly a child sleeps; they can't be woken up even by shouting."

Middle-aged men tend to involve everyone's interests in a situation, and Lin Wei is no exception.

Since everyone lives in this area, it naturally means that everyone has a place to stay, so even if the house is not satisfactory, there is no rush.

But safety is of paramount importance. If this person really intends to start a fire, and they have to work the night shift while leaving their child at home—

"Oh dear, I didn't think of this before. It's so dangerous! My husband is away on a business trip, and I have a lot of night shifts this month. What will my son do if it really catches fire?"

"Yes, actually my mattress was also slightly burned, it smells burnt. With prices rising so much these days, a mattress isn't cheap. I was just about to look for him when he led me astray."

"No, this is a big problem or a small one. I'll go call the security team. This matter needs to be addressed."

The man immediately became agitated at the mention of the security team.

"No, it was just a burnt mattress, did we really need to call the security team?"

"Is this about burning mattresses? They were doing this for the children's safety," Lin Wei said with a smile.

“Exactly, you’ve done this kind of thing quite a few times. What if you and Xiaomeng have another fight and things get heated and you actually burn down their yard? My house is right next to Xiaomeng’s. My two kids are only six years old this year and will be starting elementary school soon. We can’t afford to suffer like that.”

“My house is the same. Your house is on the left and mine is on the right. I also have an elderly person in my family who can’t move. Who can afford this? No, we have to call the security team.”

The neighbors were making noise and shouting, and the middle-aged man looked around anxiously, but in the end he could only glare angrily at her.

"You are so vicious."

"I was just stating the facts, how is that malicious? Look at how petty you are."

The middle-aged man gritted his teeth, "You brought all this stuff here, do you dare say you're not here to seize your aunt's house?"

"Those who don't understand what you're saying will think you're supporting my aunt. You're just narrow-minded and you judge others by the same standards you apply to others." Lin Wei sneered. "I'm not here to occupy a house. I'm here to study at university in Jiangcheng. I'm just here a little earlier to get used to the environment."

"Luckily I arrived early, otherwise I wouldn't have known that her neighbors usually bullied her like this. Do they really think our Lin family has no one to rely on?"

Lin Wei's aura grew stronger with each passing moment, and the middle-aged man, who was already a pushover, softened even further from his earlier timid attitude.

"Who bullied her?"

"Yes, you didn't bully anyone. You just burned my aunt's mattress with a cigarette butt. By the way, where's the security team? Haven't they arrived yet?"
