Chapter 156 Getting Beaten

Things seem to be calmer for a while now. Starting next week, Li Chu plans to continue visiting hospitals in Beijing to collect data on kidney failure patients to populate his database.

On Sunday morning, Ding Qiunan got up very early.

After finishing the breakfast Li Chu bought, the two began packing the child's things.

They planned to go back to Ding Qiunan's parents' home today, partly to let her maternal grandparents see their granddaughter, and partly to discuss what to do if her younger brother failed his college entrance exams.

Now that I have a child, every time I go out I bring a lot of stuff, including a lot of diapers.

This made Li Chu miss diapers even more; he wondered when they would ever be available again.

Every time he thinks about these things, he feels a deep resentment towards the system, which never offers him any of these good things.

Even if you don't give him these physical items, you could give him a skill book in physics or chemistry. He could then go into scientific research and development or conduct experiments in the Northwest, and become a legend.

Just as he was sitting in the yard with his son, lost in thought, Zhang Meng drove up.

Without wasting any time, the young couple picked up their child and bags and headed out. Unexpectedly, Xiao Hei became unhappy and insisted on following them. Li Chu kicked it to make it go back, but it wouldn't listen.

There was no other way but to let it get on the bus too. I filled the water bowls for the two puppies, locked the door, and set off.

Looking at the little black dog obediently sitting on the floor of the passenger seat, Li Chu felt speechless.

Didn't they say that animals weren't allowed to become spirits after the founding of the People's Republic of China? How come his animal is almost becoming a spirit?

Zhang Meng kept glancing at Xiao Hei while driving, and he couldn't stop laughing.

Sitting in the car, Ding Qiunan was still tirelessly teaching her daughter to call her "Mom".

But every time her daughter called out "Dad," it made her face turn even darker. She could only silently comfort herself that this was her own child, and she had to hold back her anger.

yawenba.

Then she patiently began teaching her daughter to call her "Mommy".

The sudden sound that Wenxuan made in Li Chu's arms attracted the attention of several people, and even Zhang Meng glanced at the rearview mirror several times.

"Mommy, Mommy"

Ding Qiunan's mouth almost stretched to her ears when she heard her son's clear calls.

He took his son from Li Chu and then put his daughter into his arms.

Wenhui looked at her father with a bit of confusion, not knowing what had happened or how she had suddenly come to him.

Li Chu put her hands under her daughter's armpits and made her stand on her lap: "Huihui, Mommy doesn't want you anymore, I'm leaving you with Daddy."

Before he could finish speaking, Ding Qiunan slapped him on the back of the head: "What kind of nonsense are you teaching my daughter?"

"Pfft!" Zhang Meng couldn't hold it in and burst out laughing.

Ding Qiunan then realized there were outsiders present, blushed, lowered her head, and continued to tease her son, making him call her "Mom."

Li Chu pouted as she looked at her daughter, but Wen Hui laughed without giving her any face. Wen Xuan heard his sister laughing and laughed along with her.

Zhang Meng stopped holding back, and even Ding Qiunan, though her face was still red, was laughing happily.

He also noticed that Xiao Hei's mouth always seemed to be wide open.

Li Chu felt as if the whole world had abandoned him, and he gave Zhang Meng a resentful look.

"Brother Meng, you're still driving, just laugh a couple of times and that's enough, why are you still not done?"

Zhang Meng suppressed a laugh, kept his eyes fixed ahead, and asked, "Xiao Chu, you're asking for it too. Listen to what you just said to the child."

"Right, right, Brother Meng, you think so too!" Ding Qiunan immediately became smug when she saw that Zhang Meng was speaking up for her.

Li Chu ignored them and said to Wen Hui, who was sitting on his lap, "Hui Hui, Mom just hit Dad, what should we do?"

"Ah ah," Wen Hui's little bottom bounced on his lap, as if she wanted to stand up.

Holding her close, Li Chu supported his daughter with one hand and used the other to grab her little arm and nudge Ding Qiunan twice: "You hit Daddy, you hit Daddy, hmph!"

"Hey, you dare hit me? You've gone too far!" Ding Qiunan retorted, grabbing Wenxuan's hand and fighting back.

The two little figures were giggling happily.

The roar of the car engine couldn't drown out the laughter and chatter inside, which carried far and wide, drawing envious glances from passersby.

Zhang Meng drove the car directly to the gate of the compound.

The sound of the car attracted most of the people in the alley to come out and see.

This alley is inhabited by ordinary workers, and cars would never normally come here. But ever since Old Ding's daughter got married, cars have been coming to pick people up or drop them off from time to time.

Since Ding Qiunan gave birth to twins last year, all the sour rumors and gossip have disappeared.

At least Ding Ma hasn't heard about it again. As for whether anyone is jealous behind her back, Ding Ma doesn't care. As long as you don't say it to my face and upset me, that's fine.

Thinking about it, it makes sense. Ordinary people would only compare themselves to those who are similar to them. Old Ding's daughter is clearly different, so what else is there to compare her to?

Ding's mother was sewing winter coats for her two grandsons inside the house when Ding Jianguo ran out from the inner room: "Mom, Mom, there's a car sound outside. Is my sister back?"

Upon hearing her son's words, Ding's mother dropped what she was doing and headed outside. Before she even reached the gate of the compound, she saw the car door open and her daughter, holding her eldest grandson, preparing to get out.

Ding Qiunan looked up and saw her mother walking out. She smiled at her mother and said loudly, "Mom, we're back."

Ding's mother ignored her completely, walked straight up to her and took the child from her arms: "Oh my, my grandson is back! Grandma missed you so much!" She then kissed Wenxuan on the cheek.

Wenxuan hadn't seen his grandmother for a long time. He stared blankly at her, his little mouth trembling as if he was about to cry.

Li Chu carried Wen Hui from the other side of the car. He knew his son was about to cry as soon as he saw him, so he quickly put Wen Hui in Ding Ma's arms and took Wen Xuan from her.

"Mom, look at Huihui."

Wenxuan was held in his father's arms, and the tears that had just been brewing back disappeared. He looked at Ding's mother with curiosity.

Wenhui didn't care about anything else. She wouldn't cry no matter who held her, but she had to see her father or mother next to her.

Ding Qiunan glanced at her mother with a sense of frustration. Ever since she had the baby, her status in her mother's eyes had plummeted, and now her mother was ignoring her completely.

Just as he was about to turn around to get something from the car, Li Chu handed his son to him, saying, "You hold him and go inside with Mom first. I'll get my things."

At this moment, Aunt Ding was already carrying Wenhui into the yard, and the neighbors all gathered around to see the child she was holding.

Wenhui was being held by her grandmother. When she turned around and saw her mother coming over, she stopped crying and kept making "ah ah" noises.
