Chapter 245 Instinct

Li Chu sat on the edge of the bed, lost in thought, until it was almost time for him to go to work. Only then did he reach out and touch his wife's face.

Ding Qiunan, with her eyes still closed, smelled the familiar scent beside her, raised her head and rested it on Li Chu's lap, even nuzzling him a few times.

Li Chu watched his wife's actions with a smile and reached out to touch her hair.

"What time is it now?"

"It's almost 2 o'clock, time to get up, darling."

"Hmm," Ding Qiunan nuzzled against his legs a couple more times before groggily lifting her head and sitting up.

After calming down, Ding Qiunan picked up the coat lying next to her and put it on. She then washed her face in the basin by the door and finally woke up completely.

"Honey, let's go straight to Uncle Wang's place after get off work this afternoon. I'll go back and ride the bike over later."

"Okay, it's stopped raining now?"

As she spoke, Ding Qiunan opened the door to the consultation room. The rain outside had indeed stopped, and the sun was out.

"By the way, Li Chu, I want to eat your braised chicken." Ding Qiunan, who had already walked outside the door, turned back and said.

"No problem, I'll go out and find two chickens later."

"Hehe, thank you for your hard work, darling. I'm off to the pharmacy."

After saying that, Ding Qiunan skipped and hopped towards the outpatient hall.

Li Chu stood at the door watching his wife walk away before turning back to close the door. He was going home to ride his bicycle.

As for buying chickens as Ding Qiunan mentioned, there's no need to buy any. There are plenty of dressed chickens in the warehouse; we can just take out two later.

One chicken was used to make braised chicken, and the other was stewed for Li Qiaoyun, as she still needed to replenish her nutrition.

When I got home, I fed the three dogs first. These three guys have been listless all day since their little owner hasn't been home lately.

I took two chickens out of the warehouse, put them in a cloth bag, and then, after thinking for a moment, took out a leg of lamb. I'll make a pot of lamb soup tonight.

After getting ready, Li Chu didn't rush back to the hospital. He went to his bedroom, set the alarm clock, lay down on the bed, and took out the English skills book he had received as a sign-in reward from the storeroom, intending to use this time to study.

As he opened the book, a beam of white light entered his head, and he once again spectacularly fainted.

As the alarm rang, Li Chu opened his eyes, shook his still dazed head, and reached out to turn off the alarm clock.

I got up and washed my face with cold water, and I immediately felt refreshed.

After careful recollection, Li Chu realized that English, like Chinese, had become second nature to him.

He silently warned himself that he must be more careful in the future and not casually show that he knows English. Otherwise, if someone who has never studied English suddenly speaks English as fluently as Chinese, it would be a big problem.

Later I can find some English books to pretend I'm self-studying.

Without thinking too much about it, I figured I could take it slow later. I got dressed, pushed my bicycle, and headed out the door.

When Li Chu arrived at the hospital, it was almost time to leave work. Instead of going to the consultation room, he went straight to the outpatient hall. There were no patients in the pharmacy at this time. Ding Qiunan and her colleagues were already cleaning up inside, preparing to leave work.

As the announcement signaling the end of the workday rang, Li Chu rode his bicycle with his wife towards Uncle Wang's house.

Ding Qiunan peeked at the cloth bag hanging on the handlebars and asked, "Li Chu, besides chicken, what else did you buy?"

"I got a leg of lamb, I'll stew a pot of lamb soup later. It's getting cold now, a little lamb soup is very comforting. I also got two bags of milk powder, take them to your daughter-in-law."

"Hmph, you're talking like she's not your daughter-in-law." Ding Qiunan raised her hand and patted her husband on the back: "Li Chu, do you think those two little ones are homesick while they're staying with my mom?"

"Who knows? But it looks like there was no trouble, otherwise Mom would have sent it back already."

"Two ungrateful brats, they don't even miss their mother now that they're out here," Ding Qiunan muttered discontentedly from the back seat.

"This is a good opportunity for you to rest for a few days. If our two kids can't be without you, you'll be exhausted every day."

Ding Qiunan thought for a moment and said, "What you said makes sense. I ran into one of the nursery teachers this afternoon. She told me that she hadn't seen our child for a week and that all of them missed him. Several of the children at the nursery also ask about him every day."

"Haha, that's good. It means our child is quite popular," Li Chu said with a smile.

"Of course, you should know whose child it is."

Li Chu didn't need to turn around to see that Ding Qiunan, who said those words, must be wearing a smug expression on her face right now.

The couple chatted and laughed as they arrived at Uncle Wang's compound. Because they came here often, the guards already knew them. Now, Li Chu and Ding Qiunan could come and go as they pleased simply by registering at the gate, without even needing to go through the necessary checks.

Only Aunt Wang and Li Qiaoyun were at home with their child.

The others haven't returned yet.

Just as she entered the room, the baby woke up and was about to drink milk. Ding Qiunan put down her bag and ran over to hug the baby.

"Auntie, I'll cook dinner for you. I bought chicken and lamb. My sister and her family will be coming over later."

Li Chu put the things he was carrying into the kitchen.

"Alright, then show us something special today." Aunt Wang said to Li Chu with a smile.

"Auntie, let me tell you, his braised chicken is so delicious." Ding Qiunan sat on the sofa, holding her child, and took the bottle from Li Qiaoyun to start feeding the baby.

"Big Plate Chicken? What's that?" Aunt Wang had never heard of this dish before.

"This is a dish I came up with myself. I'll roll out some noodles later and mix them into the braised chicken. It's really delicious." As he spoke, Li Chu took off his coat, hung it on the clothes rack by the door, and went into the kitchen to start cooking.

Aunt Wang followed him to the kitchen door: "Do you need any help?"

"No need, Auntie. You three go and chat. I can do it myself."

At the dinner table, one and a half of the two chickens were made into a large plate of chicken, and the cooked noodles were also mixed in. There was also a bowl of mutton soup in front of each person, and Li Chu even specially made a few unleavened flatbreads.

The people at the table were all eating with their mouths full of oil.

"I didn't realize you had this much skill, Xiao Chu," Uncle Wang said, taking a sip of mutton soup and looking at Li Chu.

“Don’t underestimate me, Uncle. Let me tell you, I’m a great cook,” Li Chu said smugly.

"Okay, come over and cook a few meals for me and your aunt more often when you have time."

"No problem, just call me anytime you and my aunt want to eat it."

After finishing their meal, the women worked together to clear the dishes.

Uncle Wang led Wang Ziwen and Li Chu to the study.

Li Qin didn't come over. She wasn't interested in promotions or anything like that; she'd let her husband have the benefits.
