After walking for seven or eight minutes, they arrived at the place where the health care team usually worked.
This is a small courtyard, slightly larger than the one Li Chu bought.
Director Lin first introduced him to Deputy Group Leader Yang, and then led him on a tour of the various offices in the institute.
The Western medicine department has three on-call rooms with nine doctors, as well as a room containing various Western medicine examination instruments, a laboratory, a small operating room, and an infusion room.
The TCM on-call room consists of three large rooms, housing eleven full-time doctors, and an acupuncture room.
There are also offices for three team leaders, as well as offices for nurses. There are a total of twenty professional nurses, and a pharmacy that separates Chinese and Western medicine.
Although small, it has all the vital organs.
Director Lin arranged for him to share an office with Dr. Wang and Dr. Fang.
Li Chu had seen these two doctors before when they examined Political Commissar Zhang, but they hadn't spoken then.
The two senior doctors were very welcoming to Li Chu today.
After settling Li Chu in, Director Lin left; he had a lot to do that day.
In the office, Li Chu chatted with the two senior doctors.
Through conversation, Li Chu learned that the other doctors were not present today; they had gone out with their superiors as accompanying doctors.
These full-time doctors in the health care team often accompany the leaders on outings as accompanying physicians.
Li Chu was working part-time, so under normal circumstances he wouldn't be able to get a turn.
This put his mind at ease. The traffic situation wasn't good these days, and it would take at least ten days to half a month to go out. He couldn't bear to be away from his wife for so long.
At lunchtime, the two doctors led him to the government canteen. The food was mediocre, with no meat, which disappointed Li Chu greatly.
Dr. Wang told him that there would be meat dishes once a week, but he wasn't sure which day it would be.
During the meal, Li Chu kept thinking about what the leaders' meals were like, whether they ate meat every day.
After finishing their meal and returning to the office, the two senior doctors went to the acupuncture room to rest, while Li Chu stayed in the office alone and began writing down the traditional Chinese medicine knowledge he had inherited from his mind.
The afternoon passed just like that. According to Dr. Wang and Dr. Fang, this kind of situation is actually the norm. If there were frequent emergencies requiring a doctor, that would be a big problem.
After packing up his things, Li Chu left work; full-time doctors still need to work night shifts.
As Li Chu walked out of the central gate, he looked back one last time. It was a strange feeling; he never dreamed that he would one day work here.
He didn't ride his bicycle today, so he had to walk to the bus stop to check which buses go to their area. He'll definitely ride his bicycle to work next time; taking the bus isn't very convenient.
When Li Chu arrived home, Miss Ding followed him into the courtyard.
"Why are you so late today?" the girl asked curiously, seeing that he had just returned as well.
"I went to work there today, and it's quite a long way. Besides, I didn't ride my bike; I took the bus home," Li Chu said as she changed her shoes in the living room.
The girl looked him up and down and said, "When you go to work there, shouldn't you wear those clothes you bought? And those leather shoes too."
Hearing the girl say that, Li Chu looked down and asked, "What's wrong? Is there a problem with the clothes?"
“Oh dear, you work in such a formal place, and you’re still wearing the clothes I made for you. People will laugh at you.”
"No way!" Li Chu took off his shirt, revealing his bare chest, and examined it closely. "I think the clothes my wife makes are better than the ones I buy, and they're more comfortable to wear."
Li Chu's entire body, including his underwear, was made by Ding Qiunan herself from the fabric she bought, and even the cloth shoes he was wearing were made by her.
He's currently wearing a ready-made Zhongshan suit that he bought; all his old clothes have been altered by the girl.
"I'm just worried that people will laugh at you."
"You're overthinking it, honey. You did a much better job. I don't think anything you buy is as good as what you make. I saw a lot of people wearing really ugly clothes today."
"You're just trying to make me happy, huh? I don't care anymore, wear whatever you want." The girl said this, but she was secretly overjoyed. Who wouldn't be happy to be praised by their husband?
After washing his hands, Li Chu was about to go to the kitchen to cook when he heard an old man calling him from the yard: "Little Chu, are you home?"
"You're here, I'm home." He walked to the door and lifted the curtain: "Come in, old man."
An old man was holding a bamboo steamer basket, with something on it covered by a cloth. Seeing Li Chu, he said, "I won't go in. Your aunt steamed some buns today; I brought you a few so you and Qiu Nan won't have to cook." He then picked up the bamboo steamer basket.
"Oh, thank you so much, Grandma and Grandpa." Li Chu quickly went over and took the bag from the old man's hands: "Grandpa, please come in and sit for a while."
yawenku.
"I'm not sitting here anymore. I just got back and was about to eat." An old man looked at Li Chu's upper body and said, "I never noticed before. You sit in the office all day and you're still so fit."
"Hehe, I often go for a run in the morning. Sir, please wait a moment, I'll clear the space for you with the comb."
He went inside, put the buns into his own basket for storing steamed buns, and then went out to return the comb to the old man.
"Uncle, please thank Auntie for me when you get back. She remembered to bring me the steamed buns." Li Chu thanked her again.
Yi Zhonghai waved his hand: "Alright, don't be so polite. If anyone should thank you, it should be the two of us. These buns are fresh out of the steamer, eat them while they're hot. I'm going back now." After saying that, he walked towards the central courtyard.
Li Chu watched the old man enter the courtyard before happily heading home. Now it's convenient; he doesn't have to cook.
Because of the hot weather, Ding Qiunan was only wearing a vest at home and hadn't shown herself. When Li Chu came in, the girl was already sitting at the table, holding a steamed bun and eating. When she saw him come in, she mumbled while eating, "Mmm, the steamed buns made by that old lady are really delicious, come and eat."
An older woman steamed large buns, and an older man gave her six. The two of them only ate four buns in total.
The girl ate one and a half, and since she couldn't finish the remaining half, she stuffed it into Li Chu's mouth.
The remaining two steamed buns will be tomorrow's breakfast.
After finishing her meal, Ding Qiunan took out a piece of floral fabric she had bought a few days ago. She planned to make herself a dress. Seeing that the girl was busy with her own things, Li Chu took Xiao Hei and ran to the courtyard gate to chat with the people in the courtyard.
He Yuzhu didn't go out drinking today; he came back early and joined the conversation here.
Just as they were having a lively conversation, they saw Xu Damao walk back looking dejected.
"Hey, Xu Damao, you got scolded by your boss." He Yuzhu shouted as soon as he saw him.
Upon hearing Sha Zhu's voice, Xu Damao looked up and retorted, "Sha Zhu, you're the one who got criticized by the leader! I saw you being disciplined by the class monitor at the cafeteria today at noon."
Feeling embarrassed after being exposed, He Yuzhu stood up, clenching his fists, and said, "I think you deserve a beating." He then moved to go over to her.
Xu Damao didn't back down, but instead took two steps forward: "What's wrong, Sha Zhu? Are you angry because I hit the nail on the head?"
"You silly bastard, I'll beat you up!" He Yuzhu had only taken two steps forward when an old man grabbed him: "Zhuzi, what are you doing?"
"Old man, look at that snobbish face of his. I'm going to teach him a lesson today," He Yuzhu said through gritted teeth.
An old man raised his hand and slapped him on the back of the head: "Are you still not done? Even if you don't provoke him, he'll come up and argue with you."
"That's right, Zhuzi, you provoked Da Mao first today. You couldn't argue with him, so you resorted to violence!" These words were spoken by Liu Guangqi, the eldest son of the second uncle.
Jia Dongxu also spoke up, saying, "Zhu Zi, alright, sit down."
“Zhu Zi, there are so many of us here, and you still want to hit someone? Try moving once and see if we don’t hold a hospital-wide meeting to criticize you.” Second Uncle said calmly, sitting there, and then said to First Uncle, “Old Yi, let him go and let him hit you. This is getting out of hand.”
Several people nearby also started talking about He Yuzhu.
