Chapter Sixty-Four Rewards

As we approached the courtyard house, we saw many families setting off firecrackers outside. A group of children waited nearby, hoping to find any unexploded firecrackers after the explosions. They were overjoyed if they found one.

Back home, Li Chu took out the firecrackers he had bought a couple of days ago and dragged Ding Qiunan to the gate to set them off. Several children in the yard saw this and gathered around. Seeing this, Li Chu opened a string of firecrackers and distributed them to the children, making them call him "Uncle Li" repeatedly. Children from other yards looked at them with envy.

After setting off the firecrackers, the two went home to make dumplings. There were firecrackers everywhere outside tonight, and Xiao Hei was a little scared, so it lay down in its doghouse. Li Chu and Ding Qiunan hadn't followed it out when they went out to set off firecrackers. Li Chu went over and gently kicked it, but Xiao Hei ignored him.

The two of them worked together: one kneaded the dough, and the other chopped the cabbage and mixed the filling. After they finished, they sat in the living room, listened to the radio, chatted, and made dumplings. They finished making them very quickly.

Li Chu took the wrapped dumplings to the kitchen and put them away, but he wasn't going to eat them yet. After washing his hands, he returned to the living room and sat on the sofa. Just as he was thinking about what to do to pass the time, Ding Qiunan came over from the side, plopped down in his lap, hooked her arms around his neck, looked at Li Chu with her big, watery eyes, her face slightly flushed, and said, "Li Chu, I want to have a child for you."

Hearing Ding Qiunan say this, what could Li Chu say? This was the start of the battle.

Alright, what are you thinking about killing time for? We're here now. Li Chu glanced back at the door latch. Hmm, it's locked.

...I am a character from a Xinhua Dictionary passing by...

Li Chu leaned against the headboard, Ding Qiunan in his arms had a flushed face, her eyes tightly closed, and she muttered, "You savage bull."

Li Chu chuckled and said, "How could that be? If it weren't for my affection for you..."

Miss Ding opened her eyes and gave him a charmingly disdainful look.

This drew another round of strange laughter. Li Chu picked up a cigarette from the bedside table, was about to light it, but then thought about it and put it down.

Ding Qiunan noticed his movement and asked in a hoarse voice, "Why did you stop smoking?"

Li Chu shook his head slightly: "I won't smoke anymore. Now that we've decided to have a child, we need to start preparing for pregnancy from today. I'm going to quit smoking and I won't drink alcohol anymore either, it's good for the baby."

The girl didn't say anything after hearing this, but she snuggled her little head into Li Chu's arms again.

Neither of them spoke again, they just held each other tightly.

After lying down for a while, Li Chu got up and went downstairs, fetched a basin of water, and carried it up to the second floor to carefully wipe his wife's body.

As Li Chu made his move, Ding Qiunan tightly covered her mouth with one hand. Li Chu's index finger twitched, but he forcibly suppressed the thought in his heart. He had to be careful with his own wife.

After wiping herself down, Ding Qiunan hurriedly pulled the blanket over herself, covering herself completely. She couldn't bear to look at her husband. She couldn't understand why, even after being married for several months, she was still so pathetic.

Li Chu licked his lips, amused by his wife's ostrich-like behavior, picked up the washbasin, and went downstairs.

Hearing Li Chu come downstairs, Ding Qiunan finally poked her head out, a look of annoyance on her face. She thought bitterly that she would definitely get revenge next time.

Li Chu went downstairs to the kitchen, cooked a pot of dumplings, and then got hungry again after all that work. Little Black came over excitedly, whining and circling around his feet, its tail wagging like a propeller, hoping to get some treats.

Little Black just witnessed an epic battle in the living room, which deeply wounded its heart. Now it desperately needs some delicious food to soothe its injured soul.

After cooking the dumplings, Li Chu looked down at Xiao Hei, who was staring at him expectantly, and tossed it two dumplings as a New Year's treat. He didn't call Ding Qiunan downstairs to eat, but instead carried a large plate of dumplings and vinegar water upstairs.

Ding Qiunan was getting dressed and went downstairs to see what Li Chu was doing down there. He didn't come up for a long time, and then she heard Li Chu coming upstairs, calling out, "Your Majesty, the midnight snack is here. Please do me the honor of having a bite."

Little Ding chuckled and said, "Okay, bring it up, Little Chu."

Li Chu placed a small table on the bed, put out dumplings and vinegar water, and without letting the girl get dressed, wrapped her in a quilt. He then sat down at the head of the bed and began feeding her without her having to lift a finger. Little Ding's eyes crinkled into crescent shapes with joy.

Xiao Hei had come up too, hoping to get some more food, but when he saw this scene at the bedroom door, he turned around and scurried back down, lying in his own little nest, feeling depressed. He couldn't bear to watch; these two were too lovey-dovey, dealing a critical blow to single people.

After feeding Ding Qiunan, Li Chu devoured the remaining dumplings. Too lazy to go downstairs, he stripped naked and crawled into bed, pulling his wife into his arms. Touching her soft, fragrant body, he let out a satisfied hum.

Little Ding rested her head on his arm and stretched out her little hand to draw circles on his chest.

The two lay quietly in bed when suddenly the girl seemed to remember something. Her face turned red, she gritted her teeth, and whispered, "Little Chu, since you just voluntarily fed me, I'll give you a little reward."

Li Chu opened his eyes and looked at Ding Qiunan, wondering what she was up to now. He asked curiously, "What reward?"

The girl gave him a charmingly disdainful look.

Li Chu's eyes widened immediately, and he thought to himself, "I absolutely love this kind of reward."

After a while, Li Chu became a little worried and pulled the girl out of bed.

As soon as Miss Ding poked her head out from under the covers, she took deep breaths of fresh air, glanced at her husband, and asked in a seductive voice, "Do you like this reward?"

Li Chu nodded eagerly, "I love it, I love it so much, my wife. Hehe."

The girl reached out and pinched his arm: "Go ahead and treat me badly. I'm telling you, there won't be a next time."

Li Chu rolled over and pinned his wife beneath him, looking at her and saying, "Wife, you've worked hard. Now it's my turn to serve you."

The girl looked at him in horror. What was going on? Wasn't this enough? Was this even human? Or was it a donkey from the production team?

"No...no...!"
