"Xiao Chu, once you join the health care team, you'll be able to receive two salaries."
Li Chu's eyes widened when he heard the news. Could there really be such a good thing?
Seeing his reaction, Director Lin smiled and said, "You'll know after the review is over."
"Thank you for taking care of me, Uncle Lin," Li Chu said to Director Lin.
Director Lin waved his hand: "If you don't have the skills, no one can take care of you. Besides, it was Dean Liu who suggested inviting you to join the health care team. Do a good job in the future and don't disgrace your mentor's name."
"Don't worry, Uncle-Master, it definitely won't happen," Li Chu said solemnly.
Director Lin smiled and patted him on the shoulder, feeling gratified that Old Yang had found a successor.
After the rice was steamed and the dishes were cooked, the canteen staff packed the food into lunchboxes and brought them out. Li Chu put the lunchbox into his satchel and carried it.
After getting into the car, Director Lin said to him, "Tell Xiaolan where you want to go later. He will pick you up at the same time tomorrow morning."
After saying goodbye to Director Lin, the soldier drove off that morning: "Dr. Li, where should I take you?"
"Comrade Lan, would it be convenient for you to take me to the steel plant?"
Lan Minghui, his eyes fixed ahead, said, "I came here specifically to deliver this to you. There's nothing inconvenient about it. Please rest for a while."
When they arrived at the steel mill gate, there were still 10 minutes left before the end of the workday. They saw that Li Chu had arrived by car. Today, the security department did not stop him; they just registered him and let him in.
On his way to the clinic, Li Chu touched his bag; the food was still warm. Reaching the clinic door, he peeked through the window. Inside were only Ding Qiunan and her colleague, Sister Liu, talking to each other.
Ding Qiunan happened to be facing the window. When she noticed someone at the window, she took a closer look, stood up in surprise, and walked out of the office. Sister Liu also turned around and looked out as she did so.
The girl lifted the curtain and looked at him, asking, "Why are you here at this hour? Is something the matter?" Her surprised smile was undisguised.
Li Chu held up his handbag and said, "I happened to get a ride, so I came along to have lunch with you."
"Come in quickly." The girl pulled him in and introduced him, "This is my colleague, Dr. Liu, Sister Liu."
"Hello, Sister Liu, I am Li Chu, Qiu Nan's husband."
Sister Liu stood up: "Hello Dr. Li, I've heard Qiu Nan mention you before, please have a seat."
Just then, the announcement for the end of the workday came on, and Sister Liu said, "It's time to leave work. You two can chat in the office. I'll go to the cafeteria for food."
"Sister Liu, I brought some food with me, why don't you eat with us?"
"No, no, I won't bother you. I'll just eat at the cafeteria." After saying that, Sister Liu took her lunchbox out of the drawer and left, thoughtfully closing the office door behind her.
After watching Sister Liu leave, Ding Qiunan took Li Chu's hand and asked, "Why did you decide to come and have dinner with me?"
Li Chu smiled and put her hand down, taking out a lunchbox from his bag: "Come on, let's eat and talk, otherwise the food will get cold."
He opened the lunchbox and looked at the two dishes and rice in front of him: "Where did you buy these dishes? This lunchbox isn't yours either."
"I bought this at the private kitchen at the main hospital this morning after giving acupuncture to that patient I treated last time. I saw that I still had some time, so I had the main hospital's car bring me here." The two of them ate and talked at Ding Qiunan's desk.
After taking a bite of the dish, Ding Qiunan nodded in satisfaction: "Hmm, this dish tastes good."
"Eat more if you like it." Li Chu smiled gently at the girl.
"You should eat too, Li Chu."
...
After finishing her meal, Ding Qiunan poured hot water into the lunchbox to clean it, and then put it into Li Chu's handbag.
Li Chu sat to the side watching her busy herself, remembering what he had said that morning: "Honey, my job may be changing a little in the future."
Upon hearing Li Chu's words, Ding Qiunan stopped packing the lunchbox and looked at her husband, asking, "Are you being transferred to another hospital?"
Li Chu shook his head: "No, it's just that there will be more work."
He paused here, turned to look at the door, and said, "Never mind, let's talk about it when we get back tonight. We don't know yet if it will work out, but if it does, that would be a good thing."
"Alright, since you say it's a good thing, I won't worry anymore."
"Honey, where did you put that little photo I took when we were taking pictures last time?" Li Chu asked, remembering the photo.
"It's in the drawer of the desk in the study. Do you need it?"
Li Chu nodded: "I might need it. I'll go back and get it later."
After chatting for a few more minutes, Li Chu checked the time and said, "Okay, you should rest for a while. I'm going home first; I need to go to the hospital this afternoon."
"Do you want to ride the bike?" Ding Qiunan walked over to him and straightened his clothes.
Li Chu grabbed Ding Qiunan's hand and said, "No need, I'm not in a hurry, taking the bus is fine."
"Alright then, come on, I'll see you out." After saying that, she picked up Li Chu's bag and helped him put it on.
After dropping him off at the gate, Ding Qiunan went back. The girl originally wanted to take him to the bus stop, but Li Chu refused, saying it was too hot outside and that she should go back and rest for a while.
After arriving at the hospital in the afternoon, Li Chu first went to see the director and reported the situation to Director Liang. After all, Li Chu would be in this situation for the next week, and he had to make things clear to his superiors.
Back in his office, Li Chu sat behind his desk, lost in thought.
With recommendations from Dean Liu and Director Lin, he believed that being accepted into the health care team was a sure thing.
I need to carefully plan my future path.
A knock on the door startled Li Chu from his thoughts, and he realized that he had closed the door when he came in.
He walked over and opened the door. A middle-aged man in a Zhongshan suit was standing outside. The man saw Li Chu and said, "Are you Dr. Li Chu?"
"Yes, I am Li Chu."
The man extended his hand: "Hello Dr. Li, I am Zhang Mingrui, an officer from the Health Bureau office of the Ministry."
Li Chu shook hands with him: "Officer Zhang, please come in. I didn't expect you to arrive so quickly."
As Zhang followed Li Chu into the office, he said with a smile, "Team Leader Liu and Deputy Team Leader Lin personally instructed us to process your paperwork as soon as possible."
After sitting down, Officer Zhang took out two pieces of paper from his bag and handed them to Li Chu: "Dr. Li, could you please fill out this form? Have you prepared all three photos?"
"I've been ready since Dean Liu mentioned it this morning." Li Chu took the paper handed to him by Officer Zhang. The paper was to be filled out with information about the main family members, the family's specific address, and so on. It was supposed to be a review form.
Li Chu picked up the pen and started filling it out. When he got to his home address, he hesitated for a moment and looked up to ask, "Officer Zhang, is this how it is? I'm going to move soon, where should I put the address?"
Officer Zhang thought for a moment and said, "Just fill in your current address. You can change it with me after you move." He paused and then asked, "When exactly are you moving?"
"It should be around National Day, right? What's wrong?" Li Chu asked after calculating the time.
