The scene before his eyes left Xiao Zhang completely bewildered.
He often brought the doctors from his team over, and he had never seen anyone who didn't need to be examined.
As he drove through the gate, he glanced at Li Chu out of the corner of his eye and silently reminded himself that this Dr. Li seemed to have a powerful background, and he should be careful to befriend him in the future.
The car drove straight to the entrance of a small courtyard before stopping. Li Chu looked around; it was right behind Uncle Wang's house.
This compound is inhabited by people who were awarded ranks in the same batch that year, and they are all at the same level as Uncle Wang.
Hearing the sound of a car outside, a middle-aged man wearing black-rimmed glasses came out of the courtyard.
Li Chu got out of the car, and the driver, Zhang Weigang, said, "Dr. Li, I'll be waiting for you in the car."
"Okay." Li Chu nodded and walked towards the man with glasses.
"You must be Dr. Li Chu. I'm the leader's assistant, my surname is Chang," the bespectacled man introduced himself, extending his right hand.
"Hello, Assistant Chang, I'm Li Chu." Li Chu shook hands with Assistant Chang.
"Dr. Li, please come in." Assistant Chang led Li Chu in and said, "It's like this, the leader hasn't been getting enough rest lately and feels weak all over, so he wanted to find a traditional Chinese medicine doctor to treat him. Last night, when Minister Wang came to visit, he recommended you, so today..."
Minister Wang? This made Li Chu pause for a moment, then he realized that Assistant Chang must be referring to Uncle Wang. No wonder he was asked to come for a house call.
"Assistant Chang, please take me to see the leader first."
When Li Chu followed Assistant Chang into the living room, the leader was dozing off on the sofa.
Hearing the noise, he didn't open his eyes but asked directly, "Xiao Chang, is the doctor here?"
"Sir, Dr. Li has arrived."
The leader opened his eyes, glanced casually at Li Chu, and said with a smile, "Old Wang introduced you to me, huh? You're quite young."
With just a casual glance, Li Chu felt an indescribable aura rushing towards him.
Hearing his superior's words, Li Chu composed himself and said, "Hello, sir. I am Li Chu, a traditional Chinese medicine doctor from the health care team."
"Sit down, Xiao Li. Xiao Chang, pour me a glass of water." The leader gestured to the sofa next to him, indicating that Li Chu should sit down.
After Li Chu sat down, the leader looked him over carefully again: "I really didn't expect that he would introduce such a young doctor to me."
"It's because of the leader's favor." Li Chu didn't specifically explain his relationship with Uncle Wang.
"You're so young to have made it into the health care team, you must have some special skills. Did Xiao Chang tell you about my situation just now?"
"Assistant Chang has already told me that you haven't been getting enough rest lately and feel weak all over."
The leader nodded: "Yes, but not recently, but for some time now. Several doctors in your health care team have prescribed medicine for me. It only works if I take it, and it's useless if I don't. I can't take medicine every day, can I?"
Li Chu chuckled inwardly; all these leaders were the same—they all hated taking medicine.
"Sir, may I take your pulse first?"
"Of course you can. You're a doctor, so you're in charge." The leader placed his hand directly on the sofa armrest.
Assistant Chang came over and put the teacup on the table, then brought over a chair next to the sofa where the leader was sitting, so that Li Chu could sit down while taking his pulse.
After taking his pulse, Li Chu sat back on the sofa and asked, "Sir, if you don't want to take medicine, how about acupuncture?"
"Acupuncture? You know acupuncture?" The leader seemed a little surprised after hearing Li Chu's words, and then raised his hand to pat his forehead: "I almost forgot, Old Wang said you are Master Yang's disciple, so you must know acupuncture. Okay, as long as I don't have to take medicine."
Assistant Chang, who was standing nearby, interjected, "Dr. Li, how long does acupuncture take? The leader has a meeting to attend this afternoon."
Li Chu took out acupuncture needles from his bag and said, "Assistant Chang, the acupuncture will only take a few minutes. After the acupuncture, the leader needs to sleep for about two hours and will wake up on his own when the time is up."
The leader on the sofa glanced at his watch: "It's still early. Xiao Li, come quick. Let me sleep for two hours, that'll do."
Since the leader was urging him, Li Chu didn't waste any more time. He took out cotton wool and alcohol from his bag, disinfected the needle, and then walked behind the leader.
"Boss, I'm going to get the injection now."
Before Assistant Chang could even see Li Chu's actions clearly, he noticed that needles had been inserted behind his leader's ears.
Assistant Chang glanced at Li Chu in surprise and muttered under his breath, "That's way too fast."
"Xiao Chang, what are you muttering about?" the leader asked, not having heard clearly.
"Uh, I wasn't muttering anything."
After a minute, Li Chu twisted the two needles a few times, repeating this process twice every minute for five times before removing them.
"Alright, boss, you'd better go to the bedroom and lie down now, that would be more comfortable."
The leader laughed heartily, stood up, and said, "Alright, you're a doctor, I'll listen to you. I want to see if you're as accurate as you say."
Assistant Chang gestured for Li Chu to sit down and have some water, and he followed his boss to the bedroom on the second floor.
About ten minutes later, Assistant Chang came downstairs, and his gaze toward Li Chu became even stranger.
"Dr. Li, how did you do that? How did you know I needed to sleep after the acupuncture?"
Li Chu, who was drinking water, almost choked: "Cough cough, Assistant Chang, I am a doctor. If I don't even know the effects of acupuncture, then I am a very unreliable doctor."
Assistant Chang probably realized he had asked a bit too much, smiled a little embarrassedly, and changed the subject, asking, "Dr. Li, is it really true that the leader doesn't need to take medicine in this condition?"
"No need. The other doctors have probably already prescribed the same medicine. If I prescribe it again, it will be the same medicine. The leader has already taken enough. He doesn't need to take it this time."
After thinking for a moment, Li Chu continued, "Assistant Chang, the leader needs another acupuncture tomorrow. Just adjust his schedule and call our health care team."
"How many days of treatment are needed in total?"
"One more acupuncture session tomorrow will be fine. If all goes well, the leader should be able to get a good rest tonight. The acupuncture tomorrow is just to consolidate the results."
Assistant Chang lowered his head and considered for a moment before saying, "Okay, Dr. Li, I'll call you after the leader has arranged the schedule for tomorrow."
Li Chu glanced at his watch; there was nothing more for him to do here. He said, "Assistant Chang, the boss will have official business to attend to when he gets up, so I won't bother you any longer. Just give me a call if you need anything."
bidige.
"Alright, I'll see you off."
As they were leaving, Li Chu said, "Assistant Chang, could you remind the boss to get enough rest at night and try not to stay up late? Also, the boss probably has gout in his left leg, right?"
"Yes, sometimes the pain is unbearable. Your health care team doctors have prescribed medicine, but the leaders don't like to take medicine. They simply don't want to take it when they're not in pain."
"Oh, I see. I'll point you to two spots. When your boss is in pain, you can massage them for him. It might help."
As he spoke, Li Chu squatted down, pointed out two spots on Assistant Chang's left leg, and pressed on the spot to let him feel the pressure.
Assistant Chang bent down and looked at it carefully, taking notes diligently.
