Chapter 107 Su

Seeing that her daughter was safe and sound, her mother finally felt relieved and affectionately ruffled her daughter's hair: "You're always in such a rush. I wonder if you'll ever forget your keys again when you go out. I've told you so many times, but you never remember."

After saying that, he turned to look at Li Chu and Ding Qiunan and thanked them again, saying, "Thank you so much."

Ran's father was also standing beside him, expressing his gratitude repeatedly.

"No need to thank me, we're all neighbors, it's only right to help each other." Ding Qiunan waved her hand and said, "It's getting late, you should take Ye Zi and head back soon, come to my house to play sometime."

"Sister Qiunan, you and Brother Xiaochu are also welcome to come to my house to play." Ran Ziye was noticeably more lively in front of her parents.

"Yes, you are both welcome to my home," said Mr. Ran, extending an invitation.

"Yes, we will definitely visit you when we have time." Li Chu casually made a promise.

After saying goodbye, the family of three went home. When Ran Ziye entered, she kept waving to Ding Qiunan and reminded her to come to her house to play.

As soon as she entered and closed the door, Ran Ziye started talking nonstop: "Mom and Dad, let me tell you, Qiu Nan's house next door is so beautiful! Not only does she have trees in her yard, but she also has a swing. The furniture in her living room is so pretty. And what's more, there's a big plate of peanuts, melon seeds, and candy on the coffee table. I also saw that their books are so thick, much thicker than the books you read."

He was talking while gesturing with his hands.

Ran's father and mother looked at Ran Ziye with affection. This little daughter was much more lively than her older daughter and was the little ray of joy in the family.

"Yezi, do you know what our neighbors do?" Ran's father asked when his daughter stopped.

Ran Ziye thought for a moment and shook her head: "I forgot to ask, but the book I saw was a book about Chinese herbal medicine."

Traditional Chinese medicine? Is he a researcher or a doctor?

Ran's mother chimed in, "I heard from Aunt Zhang in the alley that the new family who moved in must work at the hospital, and the male head of the household seems to be the younger brother of Deputy Director Li from the neighborhood office."

The aunties and grandmas in the alley all have the potential to be detectives; they can find out everything about you in just a few days.

Mr. Ran nodded to himself. It was good that he was a doctor. From their brief interaction, he seemed to be educated. He thought they could have more dealings with him in the future.

On the other side, Li Chu and Ding Qiunan returned home.

Ding Qiunan smiled and said to her husband, "The little girl next door is quite cute. Her parents are both university professors, and she also has an older sister who is currently in university."

Li Chu glanced at his wife in surprise. Goodness, she'd already found out about the neighbors' situation after only a few words. He nodded, "Yeah, I know."

"You knew? Then why didn't you tell me?"

"You didn't ask. Why talk about other people's business? They'll find out sooner or later anyway," Li Chu said, shrugging.

The girl opened her mouth, but didn't know what to say. She could only give a resentful "humph," turn her head away, and intend to ignore him for a minute.

Looking at his wife's adorable appearance, Li Chu sat down next to her, reached out and pulled the girl into his arms. The girl was unwilling and struggled a bit.

Ultimately, she was no match for his strength and was picked up by Li Chu and placed on his lap.

Seeing the girl's indignant expression, Li Chu smiled and said, "Okay, okay, it's my fault. I'll tell you any gossip I find out from those aunties and grandmas in the future, okay?"

Upon hearing Li Chu's words, Ding Qiunan couldn't help but picture her husband mingling with those middle-aged women, and she couldn't help but burst out laughing.

The girl reached out and patted Li Chu's chest: "You're annoying."

The image of Li Chu joining the group of middle-aged women lingered in her mind, and the more she thought about it, the funnier it became. Ding Qiunan couldn't help but let out a goose-like quack and collapsed into his arms.

Li Chu looked down at his wife, and several black lines appeared on his forehead. This silly wife, is she really that funny? She even made a goose-like honking sound.

After laughing for a while, the girl finally stopped, clutching her stomach and collapsing into Li Chu's arms, muttering, "Li Chu, stop teasing me, my stomach hurts from laughing."

Li Chu pursed her lips and didn't say anything. "Are you sure I was just teasing you? What did I say?"

After his wife had recovered for a while, Li Chu said, "Honey, I'll go boil some water. How about we take a nice bath together tonight?"

g.

Upon hearing this, Ding Qiunan jumped three feet high, quickly got off Li Chu's lap, and created distance between them before looking at him and saying, "Li Chu, tonight we're sleeping alone, you can't touch me."

Li Chu stared at the girl in astonishment: "No, I just said I'd take a bath tonight."

The girl walked over to the single sofa next to him and sat down, glancing at him sideways as she said, "Come on, we've been married for a year, do you think I don't understand your little schemes? Let me tell you, showering is fine, but we'll do it separately. I'll shower first, then you can shower. Or, aren't there showers in the other rooms? You can go to the west wing to shower."

"This is too much trouble and a waste..." Seeing the girl's unfriendly look, Li Chu decisively shut his mouth, stood up and walked towards the bathroom: "Okay, I'll go boil water, you can take a shower first."

He filled the bathtub with water, looked at the large tub he had specially prepared, shook his head, and sighed, "What a waste. It would be so much better if two people could bathe together in such a big tub."

We went outside again. This time, when we were cleaning the house, we left the fire pits outside so that there would be no smoke inside. Even though the house we lived in before had a chimney, there would always be a bit of smoke in the house after boiling water.

After working on it for half a day, Ding Qiunan darted into the bathroom like a rabbit and locked the door from the inside with a bolt.

Li Chu stood outside the door and raised his hand to knock. A girl's voice came from inside: "Don't knock, I won't open the door. Wait until I'm done washing before you wash." She then hummed a little tune triumphantly.

Hearing the sounds coming from the bathroom, Li Chu considered telling the girl that he hadn't brought the bath towel and pajamas in. But then he thought better of it and shut his mouth, a malicious smile creeping across his face.

Sure enough, after the girl finished her bath, she had no choice but to ask him for help.

Li Chu, carrying a bath towel and pajamas, walked over triumphantly.

Standing at the door, looking at the crack in the open door and the girl's outstretched hand, Li Chu refused to hand it over, instead teasing her relentlessly.

"Li Chu, wait till I get out here and see how I deal with you!" This made the girl so angry that she jumped up and down inside.

Hearing the girl's harsh words, Li Chu thought to himself, "Oh ho, just because I'm not showing my teeth doesn't mean I'm a pushover."
