Li Chu was eager to move into his new house. Once he moved, he could close the door and cook whatever meat he wanted without worrying about the neighbors finding out. Just thinking about it made his mouth water.
Okay, I'll just have to be patient a little longer. It won't be long before I can basically achieve freedom to eat meat.
He packed up the money and tickets, ready to go home and give them to his wife.
He took out his notebook and pen, preparing to organize the traditional Chinese medicine knowledge transmitted from the system into a book, because he didn't want this tradition to be lost.
Nowadays, fewer and fewer patients are coming to see traditional Chinese medicine practitioners; many are just hoping for a miracle cure.
The hotel's general manager was like that. His illness was deemed incurable by Western medicine, so he had no choice but to seek help from traditional Chinese medicine, and unexpectedly, his condition improved dramatically.
Li Chu was writing furiously when another person walked in. Li Chu looked up and saw a woman, probably in her thirties. She looked somewhat familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had seen her before.
After the woman came in, she walked to the desk and said, "Hello Dr. Li, I'm here to see a doctor. This is my registration ticket."
Li Chu put his writing aside, invited her to sit down, looked at the woman, and asked, "Have we met somewhere before?"
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Chen Fanghong, and I am Chen Fangguo's younger sister. We met once last year when you treated my mother at my brother's place."
After hearing her words, Li Chu remembered that her return had made his mother fall seriously ill again. He didn't say anything more. It didn't matter who came to him for treatment. He had only asked a question because they looked familiar.
Li Chu stared at Chen Fanghong's face for a while before letting her extend her hand to take her pulse. "Another case of infertility?" Li Chu muttered to himself.
After putting his hand down, Li Chu said, "You know your physical condition, right?"
Chen Fanghong nodded: "I know a little. I've seen doctors many times over the years and taken a lot of medicine, but it hasn't been effective."
"You must have heard something to come to me. I'll prescribe some medicine for you. Take it three times a day for seven days. Come back after seven days." After saying that, Li Chu started writing the prescription and handed it to her. He added, "By the way, it would be best if your husband came with you next time."
Chen Fanghong was taken aback by Li Chu's words: "Dr. Li, do you mean he has a problem? But many hospitals I've been to said it's because of... a blockage in my area."
Li Chu smiled at Chen Fanghong: "I didn't say anything. I just asked you to bring him here because I have something I want to say to him."
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Dr. Li, I misunderstood." Chen Fanghong lowered her head, tucked her hair behind her ear, and then looked up again, saying, "We're already divorced, so..."
Li Chu nodded in realization: "Then there's no problem. Go to the pharmacy to get the medicine, and come back in seven days."
Chen Fanghong stood up and said to Li Chu, "Then Dr. Li, you go ahead and do your work. I'll come over after I finish my medicine."
Watching Chen Fanghong walk out of the office, Li Chu shook his head. Another couple divorcing because of infertility. However, Li Chu estimated that even if Chen Fanghong's ex-husband remarried, he probably wouldn't be able to have children of his own.
Chen Fanghong does have a health issue, but it's not that she's blocked, but rather that her flow is obstructed. This means she has difficulty conceiving, but isn't completely infertile. Given her age, she's been married for at least a decade, and the fact that she hasn't conceived in so long suggests that her husband may also have issues, which are simply being masked by her problems.
Shaking his head to stop thinking about Chen Fanghong, Li Chu continued writing his own things.
Almost all the patients who come to him for treatment now are referred by acquaintances. Many patients who register on their own are hesitant to see him because they see how young he is, and instead go to one of the other two consultation rooms. Just now, a patient came in, heard that he was a doctor, turned around and left, leaving Li Chu feeling quite helpless.
However, he was happy to have some free time. It was good to have more time to write, since it wouldn't deduct his salary anyway.

Time passed slowly. That afternoon, after lunch, Li Chu was about to take Ding Qiunan out for a walk when Xu Damao arrived with his new wife.
As soon as he entered, he introduced, "Brother Chu, sister-in-law, this is my wife, Lou Xiao'e. Xiao'e, this is Li Chu. You can call him Brother Chu. He's a doctor at that big hospital not far away. He's very skilled."
"Hello, Brother Chu!" Lou Xiao'e greeted Li Chu.
Li Chu looked at Lou Xiao'e in front of him. She had a round face, short hair that reached her ears, and was quite pretty and delicate. He smiled and nodded, "Hello!"
"This is Brother Chu's wife, and also the doctor at our factory clinic, Dr. Ding Qiunan. Xiao'e, you can just call her sister-in-law." Xu Damao then introduced Ding Qiunan to his wife.
After Lou Xiao'e greeted Ding Qiunan, she was pulled aside by the young lady Ding to talk.
Xu Damao took out his bicycle keys from his pocket and handed them back to Li Chu: "Brother Chu, thank you!"
"Don't be so polite, we're all from the same compound. Come and sit here for a while."
"I won't sit down, Brother Chu. I'm going to take Xiao'e to visit other houses so she can get to know the servants." As she spoke, she took out a few candies from her pocket and handed them to Li Chu: "These are our wedding candies. Brother Chu, you and your wife can have some."
Li Chu accepted the wedding candy: "We definitely have to eat this wedding candy; we'll share in your joy."
Xu Damao greeted Ding Qiunan and then took Lou Xiao'e to the next house.
After the two of them left, Li Chu and the other two went out for a walk together.
Walking down the street, Ding Qiunan said, "I think Xu Damao and Lou Xiao'e are not a good match at all. They are just not compatible."
"You could tell that? When did you become a fortune teller, honey?" Li Chu joked.
"Oh dear, there's no need for physiognomy. Lou Xiao'e looks like a lady from a respectable family. We just chatted briefly, and she sounds cultured. Xu Damao, on the other hand, is so slick. I've even heard people at the factory say that he likes to flirt with girls."
"You said it yourself, it's just hearsay. Let's not spread things that aren't based on facts."
“I know, that’s why I’m telling you. Those aunties from the factory’s women’s federation get together every day and gossip about these things. I just listen and never say anything.”
Li Chu looked at Ding Qiunan with some surprise: "I thought you wouldn't hang out with them."
"I don't want to either, but the Women's Federation office is right next to us, and they like to come over and chat with Dr. Liu all the time. I can't help but listen." Ding Qiunan was also a little troubled; the girl wasn't the type to enjoy gossip.
"There's nothing we can do about it. It's the same everywhere. There's a group of women in the hospital who like to get together and gossip about this and that."
In summer, it gets dark late, but there are still quite a few people taking a walk on the road. When they came across a vendor selling popsicles on a bicycle, Miss Ding ran over and bought two popsicles. Knowing that her husband can earn money, she doesn't care about pennies anymore.
