"Commander, I know this Wu Xiaoliu."
Li Chu and Uncle Wang both looked at Zhang Meng, surprised that he knew about Wu Xiaoliu.
"Hehe," Zhang Meng chuckled sheepishly, feeling a little embarrassed by the two staring at him. "Commander, you may have forgotten because you're busy with work. Last year, there was a briefing that circulated throughout the army, which included Wu Xiaoliu's story."
After he said that, Uncle Wang thought about it for a moment and remembered.
"Oh, it's him. He can lead five people deep into India to carry out a mission and complete it. He must be quite good."
At this point, Uncle Wang paused for a moment: "That's not right, how could the army over there possibly allow him to be discharged?"
After saying that, Uncle Wang looked at Li Chu, wanting to see if he knew what was going on.
"Uncle, I only know the general outline. It seems that he was restored because he killed prisoners of war."
"Just because of this, someone talented person left the military?"
"Ahem, it seems to be because of torture."
"Holy crap, this guy's amazing?" Zhang Meng was so shocked he blurted out a curse.
“That’s more like it. I told you that without special circumstances, someone like him would never be allowed to leave the army.” Uncle Wang nodded, feeling that this made perfect sense.
"Well, since it's him, we should be able to find out the truth."
"Your aunt and I will go back later and take the child with us."
"Thank you, Uncle, that's what I meant too."
Uncle Wang thought for a while, then said to Zhang Meng, "Xiao Meng, you'll stay with Xiao Chu tonight. After you send us back, bring two more people from the guard post and have them stand guard outside the ward tonight."
"Understood, sir."
"Let's go back to the ward. Xiao Chu, you two don't need to eat. Wait for Xiao Meng to come over, and you can buy something outside to eat when you get back."
"Uncle, you don't need to worry about us."
The three of them left the clinic and returned to the ward. As soon as they entered, Aunt Wang was about to ask something, but Uncle Wang interrupted her: "Alright, we'll talk about it when we get back. Take Wenhui and Wenxuan with you when you go back."
Seeing this, Aunt Wang stopped asking questions.
When the two little ones saw their father come home, they jumped off their chairs and ran over to hug his legs.
Ding Qiunan couldn't help but grimac at the sight; she always felt that the two children seemed to prefer Li Chu.
Li Chu squatted down and picked up the two children, saying to them, "Huihui, Xuanxuan, how about you sleep with Grandma tonight? Daddy has something to do and can't stay with you tonight."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Wenhui and Xiao Wenxuan both turned to look at Aunt Wang, then back at their father. Xiao Wenhui asked, "When can my brother and I see Dad?"
"I'll come see you tomorrow morning after you arrive at the daycare, okay?"
"Oh well!"
Xiao Wenxuan hadn't said a word, just looked at his father, then suddenly hugged his father's neck and kissed his cheek.
Not to be outdone, Xiao Wenhui also kissed her father's other cheek.
Ding Qiunan rolled her eyes repeatedly, feeling a pang of jealousy, and muttered to herself, "Two ungrateful brats, I've spoiled them for nothing, they're not even this affectionate towards me."
Unexpectedly, she blurted it out without realizing it, which made everyone in the room laugh. Ding Qiunan blushed with embarrassment.
Li Chu whispered a few words in the ears of the two children, and they broke free from his embrace, ran to their mother, and cried for her to hold them.
After being picked up by their mother, the two little ones looked at each other and then simultaneously gave Ding Qiunan a kiss on the cheek.
Ding Qiunan felt much better after that and couldn't stop smiling.
The two little ones filled the ward with laughter and joy.
Nurses and patients passing by in the hallway would occasionally glance inside.
After sitting for a while, Uncle Wang and Aunt Wang took the two little ones and went home first.
Li Chu escorted them downstairs, watched them get into the car and leave, and then returned to the ward.
Li Qiaoyun, who hadn't spoken until now, said to Li Chu as he entered, "Brother Chu, I don't know what happened either, but if you need anything, you can tell me. My father should be able to help."
"Okay, Qiaoyun, I understand. I'll let you know if you need anything."
After thinking for a moment, Li Chu said, "Brother Meng will bring two people over later. They won't come into the ward; they'll just sit in the aisle."
This is serious; they've even sent security guards over.
Li Qiaoyun looked at Li Chu, then at Ding Qiunan.
Li Chu smiled and said to her, "Qiaoyun, you should get some rest tonight. I have some things to take care of here and I'm afraid they might get involved."
Li Qiaoyun, being a soldier, showed no change in expression upon hearing these words.
Ding Qiunan looked at her husband with worry in her eyes.
Li Chu smiled at his wife and said, "Don't worry, nothing will happen. Meng Ge will come back with me tonight."
Ding Qiunan visibly breathed a sigh of relief and gave a forced smile.
She won't feel at ease until the matter is completely resolved.
About half an hour later, Zhang Meng arrived with two people. The two people greeted Ding Qiunan and Li Qiaoyun, then moved chairs and sat down in the passageway by the door.
Li Chu specifically went over and told the doctor and nurses on duty.
It was completely dark by then. After arranging everything, Li Chu and Zhang Meng walked home one after the other.
Zhang Meng followed Li Chu for about a hundred meters, mainly to see if anyone was still following him today.
Li Chu returned from the east side today, and the journey was uneventful; neither of them noticed that they were being followed.
When he got home, Wu Xiaoliu was still not back.
After entering the house, the three dogs kept circling around Li Chu. Xiao Bai and Xiao Hua kept glancing in the direction of the door, as if wondering why their mistress hadn't come back for the past two days and why their little master was nowhere to be seen today.
Xiao Hei's behavior was a bit strange. First, it kept nudging Li Chu's legs with its head, and then it bit his trouser leg and pulled him.
Li Chu followed Xiao Hei, wanting to see what it was doing pulling him along.
Xiao Hei led Li Chu to the corner between the west wing and the rear room, barking at the corner.
Li Chu turned around and looked at Zhang Meng behind him, then turned on his flashlight and shone it into the corner.
There, on the ground, were several large steamed buns that someone had thrown down. Zhang Meng saw them from behind.
"Xiao Chu, you didn't throw this, did you?"
“No, I always put the food in the dog bowls when I feed the dogs. It’s definitely not Sixth Brother who feeds them. Even if he wanted to feed the dogs, he wouldn’t throw them here,” Li Chu said with certainty.
"That must have been thrown in by someone from outside. I suspect there was poison in the bun, and the person probably threw it in to kill the dog," Zhang Meng speculated.
"Heh," Li Chu sneered, "What he didn't expect was that the dog didn't eat, so he couldn't get in."
My three dogs won't eat from anyone except me and Qiu Nan.
