After he sat down, the leader finally spoke, "I really didn't expect your acupuncture to be so effective. I don't know how long it's been since I slept as well as I did last night."
Li Chu said with a smile, "Boss, I know you are usually busy with work, but you should still regulate your work and rest schedule and try not to stay up late."
After saying that, he stood up again: "I won't take up any more of your time, leader. I'll take your pulse again and then I'll give you acupuncture."
"Do I need to sleep for those two hours after today's acupuncture?"
"Let me take your pulse and see how you are doing."
Li Chu sat down next to the leader, took his pulse, and then put his hand down: "Leader, you slept well last night, so you don't need to sleep for those two hours today. The reason I asked you to rest yesterday morning was because you hadn't slept well for the past few days, and your heartbeat was a bit irregular."
The leader nodded: "You're a doctor, I'll listen to you."
After taking the acupuncture needles out of the bag and disinfecting them, the assistant noticed that the needle insertion point was different from yesterday, even though it was still behind the ear.
The acupuncture session lasted longer than yesterday. After the needles were removed, the leader shook his head and said, "I feel like my head is clearer now."
Li Chu didn't say anything extra, and he certainly didn't mention things like eating a light diet. Even a leader can't eat meat and fish every day.
After receiving the acupuncture, Li Chu said goodbye and left. Today, the leader personally saw him to the door and said that if he felt unwell in the future, he should be the one to come over.
After getting into the car, Li Chu realized why he had felt something was off these past two days. Where was the leader's personal nurse? He hadn't seen any of the family members either; it was just Assistant Chang who was with him. It seemed they were still staying there.
Leaders of this rank should, in theory, be provided with special care.
Uncle Wang also had one, but because he had been traveling all over the country and it was inconvenient to have a special nurse with him, and also because Zhang Meng knew a little about it, Uncle Wang didn't want it.
But why is there no special nurse around this leader? This Assistant Chang doesn't seem to know anything about medicine.
He shook his head, no longer thinking about the issue. It wasn't his place as a lowly doctor to worry about a leader of that rank. If the leader wasn't feeling well, he should just do his best.
Xiao Zhang dropped him off at the hospital entrance and left.
As soon as Li Chu entered the hospital gate, he saw an old man from the courtyard and He Yuzhu, pushing a cart and waiting at the door of the clinic. Sitting on the cart was an old lady from the backyard.
Li Chu strode over and said, "Grandpa, why aren't you going in? What are you doing standing at the door?"
As soon as he opened his mouth, the three of them noticed him. Yi Zhonghai smiled and said, "Since you weren't here, we'll just wait at the door for a while."
Reaching the cart, Li Chu smiled and nodded at He Yuzhu, then greeted the old lady on the cart and asked, "Grandma, are you feeling unwell again?"
The old woman on the cart said with a smile, "Little Chu, I'm causing you trouble again. My legs are starting to hurt again."
"Why don't you just have someone come and tell me, and I'll go and take a look? It's too much trouble to run back and forth."
"It's no trouble at all. You're at work; it would be a real hassle to make you run around." The old lady waved her hand from her seat in the car.
"Let's not talk at the door anymore." Li Chu said to He Yuzhu, "Zhuzi, carry the old lady into the examination room and put her directly on the bed behind the curtain. Grandpa, please come in and sit down too. It's fine to leave the car here."
Li Chu led He Yuzhu to put the old lady on the bed, and then took off his bag and took out acupuncture needles.
At this moment, Nurse Wang said to Li Chu, "Dr. Li, I just asked them to come in and sit down, but they didn't want to come in and insisted on waiting at the door."
An old man quickly chimed in, "Xiao Chu, it's not the nurse's fault; we just didn't want to come in."
Li Chu smiled and nodded to Nurse Wang: "It's alright, Sister Wang, I know."
After disinfecting the needle, Li Chu walked behind the curtain and said, "Come on, old lady, let me take your pulse first."
After saying that, she handed the needle in her hand to He Yuzhu and told him to take it first.
After taking her pulse, the old lady was diagnosed with gout, along with some other chronic ailments common to the elderly that cannot be cured but can only be managed.
Li Chu didn't say much. He had an old man pull up the old woman's trouser leg and then inserted the needle directly into her trousers.
The old lady looked at the two needles stuck in her leg: "Little Chu, why are there only two needles?" She remembered that Li Chu used to give her five or six needles before.
"This is a different acupuncture technique than the previous one, and the effect might be better. I just learned it myself," Li Chu explained to the old lady with a smile.
The old lady didn't say anything more after hearing that. Instead, she took out two red envelopes from her pocket and said, "Little Chu, I heard from your uncle that your wife gave birth to twins. I can't walk properly and can't go to see the children. These are red envelopes for the two children. Please accept them on their behalf."
Seeing that Li Chu seemed about to refuse, the old lady deliberately put on a stern face and said, "It's not for you, it's for my two children. You can't refuse, or I won't ask you to give me acupuncture anymore."
Since things had come to this point, Li Chu couldn't very well refuse, so he could only accept it: "Okay, I'll take it. Thank you on behalf of the two children."
The old lady smiled and said, "No need to thank me. Just bring the child over so I can take a look when you have time."
"No problem, I'll bring the baby to visit you these next couple of afternoons when I have some free time."
The acupuncture would take half an hour, and the needles would need to be twisted from time to time. Li Chu took some time to write a prescription, which He Yuzhu took and ran to get the medicine.
Looking at He Yuzhu's retreating figure, Li Chu felt that he had changed quite a bit this time.
An old man noticed Li Chu's gaze and said, "Little Chu, don't you think Zhu Zi's personality has changed a lot?"
"Yes, it's been a while since I've seen him, and he does seem a bit different this time." Li Chu nodded.
The old lady chimed in, "If things don't change soon, it won't work. Ren Damao's wife is about to give birth, and he still doesn't have a girlfriend. He's getting anxious himself."
"Grandma, you didn't try to find someone for Zhuzi again?"
"Sigh," the old lady sighed without saying anything.
An old man turned to look outside the curtain and whispered, "The old lady is worried."
"What's wrong? Just find someone to introduce someone to Zhu Zi, what's the worry? As long as Zhu Zi changes his personality, with his job and skills, finding a partner should be easy, right?" Li Chu doesn't live in that compound anymore, so he doesn't know what's going on there. Could something have happened again?
"Sigh," the old lady sighed again, "That brat told me and your uncle the other day that he doesn't want to find another partner, he's taken a fancy to Qin Huairu."
Hearing the old lady's words, Li Chu felt his eyes were about to bulge out of their sockets. He turned to look at the old man, who also nodded with a distressed expression.
