Chapter 162 Murder

“Your prescription is problematic, and very problematic. If the patient drinks the medicine according to this prescription and your instructions to boil it in water, he/she will be poisoned.”

Li Chu didn't ask any further questions and simply told him that he guessed his neighbor might have had this medicine prescribed to him by a doctor before, but this time he had gotten the dosage wrong.

As for the one about boiling in water, nine times out of ten the woman must have misremembered.

"What? Poisoning? How is that possible? Do you even know anything about Traditional Chinese Medicine? My neighbor's food was fine."

"Hey, comrade, how can you talk like that? He's a doctor in the Traditional Chinese Medicine department of our hospital. Do you think he understands Traditional Chinese Medicine? He didn't say anything when he got all the medicine before. Why do he have to ask you a few more questions? It's because there's something wrong with your prescription. How can you not appreciate kindness?"

Before Li Chu and Director Yang could speak, Ding Qiunan immediately bristled when she heard someone questioning her man. Her mouth opened fire like a machine gun.

"He calls himself a doctor? He's barely grown up yet, hasn't he even graduated? I think your hospital is just treating human life like dirt, daring to treat any kind of lousy doctor." This woman was no pushover either.

However, Li Chu felt that the woman's reaction was a bit excessive.

Ding Qiunan was about to retort when Li Chu stopped her from speaking.

He whispered to Director Yang beside him, "Director Yang, call the security personnel over. I suspect this woman is plotting to harm me."

"Dr. Li, you can't just say things like that," Director Yang said, looking at him in surprise.

"Hey, if you're not going to dispense my medicine, give me back the prescription. I'm going to report you to your boss."

Ignoring the woman's clamor, Li Chu simply looked at Director Yang.

Ding Qiunan was about to go out and call the security personnel herself when Director Yang stopped her and she turned around and walked out by herself.

Although the woman outside couldn't hear what was being said inside, she was clearly flustered when she saw someone walk out. She abandoned the prescription and turned to leave.

Li Chu didn't stop her as she walked away. Ding Qiunan watched the woman walk to the entrance of the hall and was about to call for help when she saw Director Yang and the security guards blocking her at the door.

That woman was a weirdo; she just lay down on the ground and started throwing a tantrum.

The security personnel are all men, so it's really difficult to get close to them.

However, the woman's intense reaction reassured Director Yang, who immediately called for several nurses who had come out to watch the commotion to help restrain her.

Seeing that the person had been subdued, the security guards took out a rope and tied her hands behind her back.

They didn't intend to take her away; they simply sent someone to call the police.

The woman with her hands tied kept cursing, spewing all sorts of vulgarities at will, leaving Li Chu and Ding Qiunan dumbfounded.

After calming myself down, I stopped worrying about what was happening outside and worked with my wife to quickly finish getting the medicine for the people who were still waiting.

A crowd had already gathered in the outpatient hall to watch the commotion, and security personnel were constantly maintaining order.

Knowing she couldn't escape, the woman started acting pitiful again, silently shedding tears, which attracted sympathy from many unsuspecting people.

News of what happened in the main hall spread quickly, and several leaders who were at home rushed over.

After Dean Yang understood the situation, he was about to have someone take her to his office when the police arrived on a sidecar motorcycle.

The security personnel who had previously spoken to them had already explained the situation to the police officers. When the police arrived, they took the person directly to the security office and prepared to begin questioning them on the spot.

Director Yang, accompanied by a police officer, came to the pharmacy to find Li Chu and inquire about the situation. Director Yang told the other vice directors to go back, and he came along as well.

Upon seeing Li Chu, the police officer asked directly, "Doctor, why do you suspect that woman intended to murder you?"

Li Chu handed over the prescription the woman had brought: "Comrade, it's like this, at first I didn't suspect her, I just thought the person who gave her the prescription had made a mistake in the dosage."

He pointed to the calomel on the prescription and said, "I reminded her that following this dosage and method of administration could cause poisoning, but her reaction at the time was really strange."

"Officer, if you take a prescription to the pharmacy and the doctor tells you there's a problem with the prescription, what would you do?"

After thinking for a moment, the police officer replied, "Then I will definitely find someone to find out whether there is a problem with this prescription."

"Yes, but after I told her about it, the woman didn't doubt the prescription. Instead, she questioned me and insisted that I get the medicine for her according to the prescription."

"When she saw that I wouldn't let her get the prescription, she wanted the prescription back. But when she saw that our Director Yang had left, she gave up the prescription and turned to leave."

Hearing this, Director Yang and Ding Qiunan finally understood why Li Chu was so certain that the woman had a problem.

"Thank you, doctor." After understanding the situation, the police officer went to the security office.

After the police left, Dean Yang looked at Li Chu and Ding Qiunan and smiled, pointing at Li Chu and saying, "You're blatantly skipping work!"

Li Chu felt a little embarrassed when her supervisor caught her not working properly in her clinic during work hours.

Director Yang hurriedly spoke up to explain for him: "Dean, it's fortunate that Dr. Li came to help. There were too many people getting medicine just now. If Dr. Li hadn't been there, that woman would have taken the medicine, and who knows what would have happened afterward."

Dean Yang was just joking when he said that. He didn't care at all about Li Chu skipping class. He just smiled, waved, and left.

Director Yang said goodbye and left the pharmacy.

There were no more pharmacies outside by then. The young couple sat down on chairs, and Ding Qiunan asked with some concern, "Li Chu, will it be a problem if Dean Yang sees you skipping work?"

Li Chu smiled nonchalantly: "Don't worry, wife, nothing's wrong."

Since her husband had said so, Ding Qiunan was no longer worried. Instead, she asked, "Will the prescription that woman just gave me kill someone if they take it?"

"The other ingredients in that prescription are fine, but the dosage of calomel is obviously too high. Taking that dosage will cause acute mercury poisoning. If you are treated in time, the problem is not too serious, but if you are not treated in time, it is hard to say."

"Hiss, who is she trying to harm?"

“She just said she was getting medicine for her mother-in-law…” Li Chu said, looking at his wife.

Ding Qiunan looked at her husband with some surprise: "What grudge do you have that would make you think of such a way to harm your own mother-in-law?"

"Who knows? Maybe she just said it offhand."

The two chatted casually for a while, and seeing that it was almost time to get off work, Li Chu went back to the clinic to get his things.
