After saying that, Li Chu took Ding Qiunan's hand, and the two walked back.
"Qiu Nan, do you still remember the song you hummed when you first took me to your house, the one I gave you on my bike?"
"Yeah, I remember. You said you were just singing nonsense."
"Then listen carefully, I'm going to sing you a couple more lines."
Ding Qiunan didn't speak, but just turned her head to look at him with a smile.
"For the rest of my life, you are the wind and snow, you are the ordinariness, you are the poverty, you are the glory, you are the tenderness in my heart, and you are everything my eyes see."
After listening, Ding Qiunan didn't ask any questions this time. She just tightened her grip on Li Chu's hand and her smile deepened.
The two of them wandered back to the courtyard house.
Just as I reached the door, I saw an older woman walk out somewhat clumsily.
The woman is four months pregnant; it's quite obvious.
When she first became pregnant, the old man only told the old lady in the backyard and didn't tell anyone else. When the old lady's pregnancy became obvious, everyone in the yard was stunned, and even people from the neighboring yard came over to see.
Many people know that the reason why the old man's family has never had children is because the old woman damaged her health when she was young.
She's suddenly pregnant now, which clearly means she's been cured.
They all came over to inquire about the situation, both openly and secretly.
The couple remembered Li Chu's instructions and didn't tell anyone. They only said that they had accidentally obtained a prescription, tried it, and unexpectedly it cured them.
No one believed this, but you can't do anything if others don't say anything. The excitement lasted for two days and then it was over. Only some people in the courtyard suspected that Li Chu was the one who cured him, but no one spoke up.
"Auntie, are you going out?" Li Chu greeted her as he stepped forward.
"Xiao Chu, Qiu Nan, you two are back." An older woman looked at the two of them with a smile: "The old lady in the backyard wants to make some clothes for me. She asked me to go to the supply and marketing cooperative to get some cotton flannel, saying that the fabric is soft." As she spoke, she touched her belly.
The old lady in the backyard was very happy for her when she found out she was pregnant; she figured she was going to make clothes for the baby in her belly.
Ding Qiunan stood to the side, her eyes sparkling as she looked at the middle-aged woman's prominent belly, seemingly lost in thought.
"Auntie, please drive carefully and avoid crowded places," Li Chu advised.
"Okay, Xiao Chu, I'm leaving now."
After watching the older woman walk away, the young couple prepared to enter the yard.
After taking only two steps, Li Chu stopped again, patted his forehead, and said, "I was so happy that I forgot something important."
After saying that, he pulled Ding Qiunan and walked out again.
"What did you forget?" Ding Qiunan asked.
"Let's take a picture to remember this day! Today is an important day for both of us."
"Oh, you want to take pictures? Then I should go home and change my clothes." Ding Qiunan stopped and didn't move.
Li Chu looked her over from head to toe and said, "No need to change, my wife is beautiful." Then he pulled her away.
Ding Qiunan was pleased by his praise and followed him in a daze.
There was a photo studio not far from the alley. The couple went there, paid, had their photos taken, got a receipt, and were out quickly. They came back a week later to pick up the photos.
Ding Qiunan carefully put away the receipt for the photos, her little face beaming with joy.
On the way back, the girl suddenly asked, "Li Chu, do you prefer boys or girls?"
Li Chu was taken aback for a moment, then turned to look at her: "What, you want a baby?"
Ding Qiunan looked up at Li Chu with a serious expression and said, "We're already married, isn't it normal for her to get pregnant?"
Li Chu squeezed the girl's small hand: "No rush, you're still too young. Let's have a baby in a couple of years."
"I'm already 20, I'm still young." The girl was getting a little anxious.
They had already reached the gate of the courtyard when they started talking. Li Chu didn't rush to reply to her, but pulled her into the house.
Li Chu sat down on the sofa and let the girl sit on his lap before saying, "You're also a medical student, so you should know that having a baby too early isn't good for a woman's health. Besides, we've just gotten married, and I want to enjoy two more years of our life as a couple."
"Well... if I don't get pregnant after a long time, people will gossip," the girl pouted.
"Let's live our own lives, who cares what others say?" After saying that, Li Chu's expression turned particularly lewd as he asked, "Wife, are you still feeling unwell?"
The girl didn't react immediately: "I don't feel unwell, what's wrong?"
"It's good that you're not feeling bad anymore." Then he picked the girl up and stood up: "If you're not feeling bad, let's go upstairs and finish what we didn't do last night."
They carried him upstairs.
The girl patted him with her little hand in his arms: "You're so annoying, it's broad daylight."
Once inside the bedroom, Li Chu put the girl on the bed and pounced on her.
...
Li Chu looked at the girl who had fallen asleep in his arms. A tear still clung to the corner of her eye.
Li Chu kissed the girl's forehead tenderly.
Then I thought, this can't go on forever, it's not a good thing.
No, I need to give my wife medication too, so that her health can improve.
Without further ado, Li Chu took the girl's pulse, understood her physical condition, carefully placed her on the bed, covered her with a blanket, and then left.
I went downstairs, sat on the sofa, and lit a cigarette. There was no rush with the medicine; I had prepared the herbs in my own space, so I could take my time. The herbs for the beauty cream I was making for my wife were also ready. These things weren't urgent; I could take my time.
I finally got married, and a brand new chapter in my life began.
After finishing his cigarette, he got up to prepare dinner. Little Ding loved his braised chicken with potatoes, and since she was tired today, he wanted to treat her well.
He took a dressed chicken out of his spatial storage and went into the kitchen to get to work.
Perhaps it was the aroma of chicken that woke the girl up. Li Chu was kneading dough to prepare noodles, but he didn't know how to make hand-pulled noodles. He heard the girl calling him from upstairs.
After washing his hands, Li Chu went upstairs to the bedside.
Ding Qiunan was still sleepy, curled up in the blankets. When she saw Li Chu come up, she stretched out her two slender white arms from under the blankets: "Where did you go? I didn't see you when I woke up. Hug me."
Li Chu was a little puzzled: "This girl wasn't like this before. Has she awakened some strange attribute?"
That's what he thought, and he didn't slow down at all. He sat down on the edge of the bed and hugged the girl, blanket and all, into his arms.
Little Ding looked at him with her big, watery eyes and said, "What delicious food are you making? I can smell the aroma."
