Chapter Fifty-Seven: Agreement

After the eldest brother called his younger brother in, he also brought over paper and pen, and the three of them sat around the table and started discussing things.

With the time to pick up his wife from get off work fast approaching, Li Chu said, "Gentlemen, let's call it a day. I have some things to take care of. You two can discuss what you need, and I'll hurry up and finish the paperwork so we can get in."

The eldest brother stood up: "Alright, Dr. Li, you go ahead and do what you need to do. We brothers will discuss it further and make a list for you later."

Xiao Hei was crawling on the ground when it saw Li Chu come out. It scrambled up and ran to his feet.

The eldest son of the wealthy family followed behind Li Chu and said after seeing this, "Dr. Li, your dog is so obedient after only two days of raising it. If you train it properly, it will definitely be a good guard dog."

Li Chu turned around and glanced at Boss Fu: "What, Boss Fu, you know how to train dogs?"

“Hey, we used to keep several at home, but now…” The eldest son shook his head, his eyes full of reminiscence.

“When you have time later, Boss Fu, tell me how to train a dog,” Li Chu said as he walked out of the yard.

"No problem, I'll talk to you about it later. Take care, Dr. Li."

"Go back now. I'll hurry up and finish the paperwork here. I'll come find you as soon as it's done." Li Chu waved and headed home with Xiao Hei.

After returning home and putting Xiao Hei inside, Li Chu rode his bicycle to pick up his wife. When he arrived at the factory gate, with a few minutes left before the end of the workday, Li Chu parked his bicycle by the roadside and thought about the house again.

Soon after, the factory's loudspeaker blared, and the security guards opened the factory gate. Li Chu looked inside and saw a dozen or so security personnel standing on either side of the gate, as workers began to walk out one after another.

From a distance, Li Chu saw Ding Qiunan walking and chatting with a woman in her thirties. When Ding Qiunan looked over, Li Chu raised his hand and waved. Ding Qiunan then said a few words to the person next to her and walked towards him.

The girl walked up to him and asked, "When did you arrive? Have you been waiting long?"

Li Chu pushed his bike forward and said, "I just arrived a few minutes ago. Today, I noticed some differences between the main factory and the branch factory."

Ding Qiunan followed him and began chattering about what she had seen and heard that day.

After walking a few steps, Li Chu climbed onto the bicycle, supporting himself on one leg, gesturing for the girl to get on. Then, listening to the girl talking to him from behind, he slowly rode home.

Ding Qiunan, sitting behind him, patted him on the back: "Let me tell you, Li Chu, today the aunt from the office next door came over for a chat and she even wants to introduce me to someone."

Li Chu was speechless. Who was this guy trying to poach my guy on the very first day?

Before Li Chu could speak, Miss Ding continued, "Later, I told that auntie that I was married, and she kept saying it was a pity. She said the guy she wanted to introduce me to was a high school graduate who worked at a supply and marketing cooperative. She went on and on about how great his workplace was, how great he was, and how good his family was. She went on and on about how great his family was. I told her my husband was a college graduate who worked at a hospital. You can't believe the look on that auntie's face! She immediately changed the subject. Hahaha, it cracked me up..."

Li Chu rode his bicycle slowly, listening to his wife's cheerful laughter behind him, and his face was full of smiles.

When I got home, it was almost completely dark. In winter, it always gets dark very early. Everyone in the yard was busy cooking so that people who had been busy all day could have a hot meal as soon as they entered their homes.

After the young couple arrived home, they immediately started cooking. The dough they had prepared at noon was ready, and Ding Qiunan was kneading the dough at the worktable while Li Chu went to light the fire in the stove and add water to the large pot, preparing to start steaming the buns once the fire was burning.

After a busy hour, the two finally got to eat.

After finishing her meal and cleaning up, Ding Qiunan sat down at her sewing machine and continued making sofa cushions. Li Chu sat down on the sofa and looked at Ding Qiunan, saying, "Wife, stop what you're doing for a moment. I need to talk to you about something."

When Ding Qiunan turned around, Li Chu told her about the courtyard he had seen at noon. He described the condition of the courtyard, the price, and that it would cost money to renovate it after purchase. Then he asked, "Wife, what do you think?"

The girl tilted her head and thought for a while before saying, "I'll listen to you. If you decide to buy it, then we'll buy it."

Seeing how readily she agreed, Li Chu was a little taken aback. He had already figured out how to persuade Ding Qiunan, but the girl's unpredictable approach left him bewildered: "Why did you agree so readily? Shouldn't you be worried about spending money?"

Ding Qiunan looked at him like he was an idiot: "You're buying a house for our family? We have the money to buy one. It's not like we're wasting money. Besides, moving to a bigger house is a good thing. Why wouldn't I agree?"

After the girl finished speaking, she lowered her head and started teasing Little Black with her foot.

After hearing Ding Qiunan's words, Li Chu was stunned for a moment: "Then I'll make time to go to my sister's neighborhood office tomorrow to complete the formalities."

Ding Qiunan said without looking up, "Okay, go ahead. The money is in that cabinet. You can get it yourself tomorrow."

"Why did you agree so readily? That shouldn't be the case." Li Chu had prepared his explanation for a long time, but it was of no use at all. He was a little disheartened and muttered to himself.

He muttered these words to himself, and Ding Qiunan heard them. The girl looked up at him and said, "Actually, there's another reason why I agreed to move to a bigger house."

Li Chu looked at her and asked, "What's the reason?"

"It's just that the house is bigger, so I can... I can have more children for you." The girl was still a little shy when she said this, her face turned red, and then she turned around and continued to work.

Li Chu watched Ding Qiunan's retreating figure, smiled, and stopped dwelling on the previous question. He went into the study, took out a book, and sat down on the sofa to start reading.

The living room fell silent, with only the hum of the sewing machine breaking the silence.

After an unknown amount of time, a knock on the door startled the two people in the living room, who were engrossed in their own thoughts.

"Who is it?" Li Chu asked, putting down the book in his hand.

"Brother Chu, it's me, He Yushui," the person outside the door replied.

Li Chu felt a little strange. He Yushui had never come to his house to look for him before. When he opened the door, he saw a small, thin girl standing there, holding a handbag.

Seeing the door open, He Yushui said to Li Chu inside, "Brother Chu, could I trouble you with something?"

"Yushui, come in first, let's talk inside." Li Chu stepped aside and called He Yushui into the house.

When He Yushui came in and saw Ding Qiunan, she greeted her, "Sister Qiunan!"

Ding Qiunan nodded: "Yes, Yushui, please sit down." Ding Qiunan looked at the thin and small He Yushui with a bit of pity. She was already in junior high school, but she was still so thin and small. She had such an inhuman father and an unreliable brother. This girl was really pitiful.
