Chapter 150 Terrifying

Upon entering the office, Old Fang had not yet returned. Li Chu sat down behind his desk and realized he was covered in sweat and feeling dizzy.

I picked up the jar on the table and drank a few mouthfuls of water. My head felt a little better, but my heart was still beating very fast, like a drum.

Li Chu shook his head with a wry smile. Having lived two lives, his mental fortitude was still lacking. Even doing a good deed could scare him like this. If he had really done something bad, he probably would have fainted just now.

After sitting in the office for more than ten minutes, he felt something was wrong. Their little courtyard was too quiet; it was usually quite lively outside after meals.

Li Chu opened the office door and walked out. There were people talking in the office next door, but there was no one in the courtyard, and he didn't see anyone moving around.

He went straight to the outside of the courtyard. As soon as he stepped out of the gate, Li Chu felt his pupils shrink suddenly. He saw that the road outside was filled with soldiers with guns, with sentries every three steps and guards every five steps.

Li Chu understood that the thing he had placed must have been discovered, and those who were still in the cafeteria probably couldn't move around for the time being.

He didn't linger outside; he went straight back into the courtyard.

At that moment, the door to the office where he had just heard the voices opened and two people came out; both were doctors from the Western medicine department.

"Dr. Li, where are the other members of the team?" one of them asked after seeing Li Chu.

Li Chu shook his head: "I don't know what's going on. There were armed soldiers standing on the road outside just now."

The two men exchanged a glance: "Let's go, let's go out and take a look."

Watching the two run out, Li Chu returned to the duty room and let out a long sigh of relief.

This matter is over. As for how the big shots will handle those things, that's not his concern.

He now only hopes that the system will never give him these things again; they're too exciting and thrilling.

Perhaps because things had come to a satisfactory conclusion and he felt relieved, he actually felt a little sleepy.

Li Chu didn't go to the lounge to rest. Instead, he lay down on the table, closed his eyes, and unexpectedly fell asleep.

He didn't know how much time had passed when the door to the duty room was pushed open, startling him. He looked up and saw that it was Old Fang who had returned.

"Old Fang, why are you only coming back now? What happened?" Li Chu asked casually.

"Don't even mention it," Old Fang said, taking a sip of water from his teacup before continuing, "I don't know who left something on the way to the canteen, or what it was, but the soldiers from the guard regiment blocked us from passing."

"What did you put there?" Li Chu asked, feigning interest.

Old Fang shook his head: "Who knows? We were all in the cafeteria and weren't allowed to go out, so we didn't see anything."

"Xiao Li, I'm going to lie down in the lounge for a while. I'm getting old, and I really can't keep going without a midday rest. Call me if you need anything."

"Okay, Mr. Fang, you should go and rest."

After Mr. Fang left, Li Chu checked his watch. It wasn't even two o'clock yet. He had been dozing off at the table for about an hour.

Li Chu felt incredibly energetic. He stood up, stretched, and walked out of the duty room to the outside of the courtyard.

There were no soldiers on guard duty on the main road anymore, and it seemed that the documents he had left had been taken away. I felt a sense of relief.

The two big shots I saw around noon were a military leader and a future designer.

If these two find out about this information, it will definitely come in handy.

After standing at the door for a while, Li Chu returned to the duty room.

Having successfully completed the necessary tasks, I felt I had contributed to the construction of our motherland. Overjoyed, I even hummed a little tune: "Back in the day, when my army had just begun..."

He read in the duty room until the afternoon when he was off duty. He first went to the canteen to get some food, and then rode his bicycle home.

When Li Chu got home, Aunt Wang was still there. Li Chu guessed that Zhang Meng might not be able to come over for a while, so he briefly told Aunt Wang to eat at home.

As expected, it was already dark when Zhang Meng arrived today, and Uncle Wang came along with him.

Uncle Wang even went inside to check on the two children who were already asleep.

Li Chu guessed that Uncle Wang was late getting off work today, probably because of the documents he had left behind.

After they all left, Ding Qiunan pulled Li Chu to sit on the sofa, then sat on his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and asked, "Li Chu, is something wrong with you today? I noticed you seemed rather... well, excited, after you came home from get off work."

Hearing his wife's words, Li Chu was a little surprised. The person who knows you best is definitely your spouse; he hadn't expected his wife to be so observant.

"Deceiving Emperor Kangxi"

"I wouldn't say I'm excited, but it's something to be happy about."

"What is it?" Ding Qiunan was clearly intrigued.

"Old Fang from our health care team gave me his medical records from over the years. They're full of the experience of a renowned doctor." There are some things he can't let his wife know, so Li Chu can only use this as a shield.

"Tch, I thought it was something serious." Ding Qiunan pouted, got off his lap, and sat on the sofa next to him to start doing needlework.

Seeing that his wife was indeed not interested in this, Li Chu secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He wondered how those people could train to keep their emotions hidden. He was still too inexperienced and needed to practice more.

The next morning, Li Chu was sitting in the clinic reading when an officer from the medical office came to inform him that Dean Yang wanted to talk to him.

To be honest, when Li Chu heard the clerk say that Dean Yang wanted to talk to him, the hairs on his body stood on end, and he looked at the clerk in the medical office with horror.

Even Nurse Wang was so frightened that she stood up and knocked over her chair.

The officer probably realized that his words could easily be misunderstood, and said with an embarrassed smile, "Dr. Li, I'm sorry, I didn't say everything. This Dean Yang just took office this morning."

Before Li Chu could speak, Nurse Wang said, "Officer Li, please watch your words next time. You can scare people to death."

"I'm so sorry, I'm really so sorry."

Li Chu smiled and nodded to Officer Li: "I understand, Officer Li. I'll be right there."

On his way to the dean's office, Li Chu was a little puzzled. Why was the new dean talking to him instead of the department heads?

Arriving at the dean's office, I straightened my white coat a little before raising my hand to knock on the door.

"Come in." A voice came from inside the room. It sounded like something was rubbing against the person's throat, which was very unpleasant to hear.

Li Chu pushed open the door and went in. The person behind the desk was writing something without looking up.

"Hello Dean Yang, I am Li Chu from the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine."
