"Swish"
Li Chu felt a dagger being plunged into his heart.
I knew my son often made sarcastic remarks, but I never expected him to be so quick, accurate, and ruthless.
"Goose, goose, goose, goose..."
Well, Ding Qiunan is at it again.
The father and his two sons looked at each other, shook their heads, and sighed.
Even the three dogs seemed to move further away from their owner without prior arrangement.
Ignoring his wife who was still laughing, he fed his daughter a few more bites, wiped her mouth, and then let her go play.
My son had just finished eating, and he carefully got off the chair and onto the floor, then went to play on the rocking horse with his sister.
"Alright, honey, stop laughing. If you don't eat, I'm going to clean up!"
Ding Qiunan finally managed to stop laughing, and shook her head: "I'm not eating anymore, my stomach hurts."
"Hmph, who told you to keep laughing?"
"It's because all three of you, father and sons, have to make me laugh."
Li Chu pursed his lips and stopped nagging his wife.
He got up, took the food bowls of the three big dogs, gave them some of the leftover food from the table, and then broke off a few steamed buns and threw them in.
He whistled a "shh".
The three dogs that were standing next to the two children wagged their tails and ran over, finding their food bowls and burying their heads in their food.
After washing all the plates and bowls on the table in the sink, and tidying up the entire kitchen, Ding Qiunan was still sitting in a chair, holding her pregnant belly.
"What's wrong, honey? Does your stomach still hurt?"
Ding Qiunan stared at her husband with her big eyes, then turned to look at her two children, making sure they couldn't hear her, before whispering, "I got it on my pants."
Li Chu was stunned for a moment before he realized what his wife meant. No wonder she had been sitting there motionless for so long; she was a little embarrassed.
He chuckled inwardly, but his face showed no sign of anything amiss.
He simply picked her up in a princess carry.
"Ah, what are you doing?" Ding Qiunan hurriedly grabbed his neck in a panic.
"I'll carry you to the bathroom."
"The baby's still here, I'm so embarrassed, please put me down."
"Oh, I'm your man, what's there to be shy about hugging you at home?"
Without saying a word, Li Chu picked her up and carried her into the living room and then into the bathroom.
After putting her on the ground, I went into the bedroom to get a change of underwear and pants, and also brought over the bag that contained her cotton swabs and gauze.
"Change your outer pants and underwear and give them to me."
Ding Qiunan took the clothes and nodded.
In the years since they got married, Li Chu has done the laundry and dishes every month when she was inconvenient.
At first, she was really embarrassed to let them wash her underwear, but now she's gotten used to it.
After taking the clothes his wife handed him, Li Chu went to the yard to wash them.
"Daddy, Daddy, what's wrong with Mommy? Is she sick?"
He just carried Ding Qiunan there, and both children saw it.
Li Chu put the clothes in the basin, squatted down, and patted the two children's heads.
"Mom isn't sick, just has a slightly upset stomach. She'll be fine in a bit. You guys go play."
After the two children fell asleep that night, Li Chu leaned against the headboard and read a book, while Ding Qiunan took out the household registration book and grain ration book from the cabinet and put them on the table.
"Remember to pack your household registration book and grain ration book tomorrow morning, the logistics department needs them."
Li Chu then remembered and patted his forehead: "Luckily you remembered, I had forgotten."
"How could I possibly forget about our family's future meals?"
As she spoke, Ding Qiunan got into bed and naturally rested her head on her husband's stomach.
"Wife, what do you mainly do at the pharmacy?"
The main hospital is not currently accepting patients from the public, so the pharmacy should not be busy.
"There's not much to do. The main thing is to take care of all the medicines that need to be processed."
"I'll give you a list tomorrow, and you can prepare all the medicines according to the list."
Ding Qiunan sat up abruptly.
"What's wrong?"
"It's nothing. I just got the medicine I prescribed for our parents and sister almost finished, so I'm getting them some more."
"oh"
Upon hearing that it was because of this, Ding Qiunan lay down again.
"This time I plan to roll all the medicine I drink into pills."
"Is it possible? I remember you said it wouldn't be easy."
"It's indeed difficult to do, but I have a new idea and I'm going to give it a try."
"Could you make some of that black ointment for Xiao'e too?"
"Okay, she'll take care of it." Li Chu affectionately ruffled his wife's hair.
"Only someone as generous as you would give away something this good."
"Hehe," Ding Qiunan looked up and chuckled sheepishly.
"I don't need it, it's a waste to just leave it there."
As she spoke, she raised her hand to touch her face: "Li Chu, why has my skin gotten better and better since we got married?"
She reached out and touched her husband's face again: "And I've noticed that you haven't changed much in the past few years. You seem the same as when we first met."
"And another thing," Ding Qiunan sat up again in a rush, "haven't you noticed? We all seem to never get sick, and the children are the same way. They don't even have colds or coughs."
Hearing his wife's words, Li Chu smiled bitterly to himself.
How could he explain this? Could he say it was thanks to the system?
"You think those health-boosting medicines I usually give you are fake?"
"Such a strong effect?" Ding Qiunan asked with a slight frown.
"Then why don't you get old?"
"Isn't it good not to get old? You haven't changed much in the past few years."
Ding Qiunan scratched her head in distress: "But...but something feels really weird."
"What's so strange about that? You have good skin, so you'll naturally look younger."
Is that so?
"That's right, don't overthink it. Everyone else wants good skin and to look young, but you're here worrying about how good your skin is. Do you think people will beat you up if they find out?"
"Ah, hehehehe..." After her husband said that, Ding Qiunan also felt that she might be being a bit too dramatic.
Having successfully diverted his attention, Li Chu couldn't help but give himself a mental pat on the back.
He gently stroked the back of his wife in his arms.
"Li Chu, can't you make this medicine so that everyone can take it?"
"It's quite difficult, mainly because you have to add that century-old ginseng. You should know how much of that stuff there is."
Ding Qiunan stuck out her tongue. She worked in a pharmacy and knew how precious a century-old ginseng was.
"Ah..." He pretended to yawn, "Oh dear, I'm so sleepy, time for bed!"
She lifted her upper body and kissed her husband on the cheek.
Li Chu smiled slightly and pulled her closer to him.
"Go to sleep, my wife!"
With a "click," she reached out and turned off the light.
