"Li Chu, do we have any wool coupons left?"
"I didn't notice, but I think they're there. They're all in the cabinet upstairs. You can check for yourself," Li Chu replied without looking up from his book.
Upon hearing this, Miss Ding ran up to him with a "thump-thump-thump".
After a while, he came downstairs again with a small metal box in his hand and sat on the sofa.
I took all the tickets out of the box and sorted them out neatly, one by one.
"So many tickets!" Ding Qiunan exclaimed, looking at the neatly arranged stacks of tickets in front of her.
"Li Chu, when I go back tomorrow, can I get some yarn coupons for my mom? She wants to knit a sweater for my dad, but she can't seem to get enough coupons."
“Sure, just take whatever you need from home, no need to consult me,” Li Chu said casually.
Miss Ding said seriously, "That won't do. I have to make it clear to you before I take anything from my family."
"Okay, take more of those yarn coupons, and have your mom give each of the three of them a sweater." Li Chu thought for a moment, "Should we buy the yarn and take it over?"
Ding Qiunan looked at him with some surprise: "Why would you think that? It's not like my family is struggling to make ends meet and needs our help."
Li Chu also found his wife's idea a bit strange: "But after all, you were raised by your parents. If you have the means, isn't it normal to give more to your family?"
“But shouldn’t it be my father’s responsibility to support that family? I’m married to you now, I’m a member of your Li family, this is my home.”
After a pause, Ding Qiunan added, "If my family is in trouble, and our family is able to help, of course I will."
"But I've heard that some women take a lot of their husbands' family's things back to their parents' home after they get married."
Miss Ding pouted: "How could there be such a woman? Does she not want to live with me anymore?"
Li Chu smiled and didn't bring up the topic again: "Take some cotton coupons too."
The girl waved her hand: "No need, my mom made a new quilt this year. She wanted to give it to me when she came over the other day, but I didn't take it. I have a quilt at home."
After hearing this, Li Chu shrugged and said, "Then see if you need to bring anything else."
The girl thought for a moment, resting her chin on her hand: "When I come back tomorrow, I'll buy some yarn and knit you a sweater. As for your old one, I'm going to take it apart, wash it, and knit you a hat, scarf, and gloves."
"Buy more yarn, I'll knit one for you too." Seeing that the girl was about to say something, Li Chu continued, "Don't refuse, or I won't want it either."
Miss Ding looked a little troubled, but felt mostly sweet inside.
Li Chu added, "Also, I offered to buy you ready-made clothes, but you didn't want them. So I'll get you some fabric and find a tailor to make you a suit."
The girl nodded: "Okay, but you don't need to find a tailor to make it, I can do it myself."
Li Chu was intrigued: "You can make clothes?"
"Of course I can. My mom knows how to sew, and I learned from her. We just bought a sewing machine. Oh, right, I'll make you one too."
Then he picked up a pen and started scribbling on the paper, muttering something to himself.
Looking at the girl's earnest expression, Li Chu felt a surge of warmth in his heart.
After reading for a while, Li Chu noticed that Ding Qiunan was still writing something on the paper, so he didn't disturb her and got up to go to the bathroom.
Light the fire under the bathtub, then fill the tub with water and get ready to take a bath.
Once the water was hot enough, I turned down the fire a little, then went to the living room and picked up the girl without saying a word.
Held in his arms, Ding Qiunan asked blankly, "What are you going to do?"
"Honey, it's time to take a bath. I've already boiled the water."
"Oh, then put me down, I can walk over by myself." The girl struggled to get down.
Li Chu tightened his grip on her arm: "What are you thinking about? I'll carry you over so we can shower together."
The girl blushed deeply, buried her head in his chest, and didn't say a word.
I drifted by for a very, very long time...
I don't know exactly how long it took, but I washed myself thoroughly, inside and out, from head to toe, until I was completely clean.
The bathroom was warm, and Li Chu was afraid that the girl would catch a cold if she came out, so he didn't let her come out. He ran out to the bedroom, took a quilt, wrapped the girl in it, and carried her to the bed.
Then he went downstairs to clean the bathroom, turned off all the lights downstairs, and then went back upstairs to get into bed.
He held the young girl in his arms and gave him a hard slap: "You brute! We're going to my house tomorrow, how am I supposed to walk with my legs so weak?"
Li Chu chuckled and said, "I'll give you a ride on my bike tomorrow. You can just sit there."
"You're just going to keep messing with me!" the girl said resentfully, then whispered, "Why is it different from what's written in the book?"
Li Chu was a little stunned. How could his wife have read that kind of book? He deliberately asked, "What kind of book?"
"It's...it's that kind of book." The girl was a little embarrassed and pulled the blanket over her head.
Li Chu chuckled and buried his head inside, whispering in the girl's ear, "What's written in the book is wrong, shall I teach you?" Before the girl could reply, he climbed on top of her again...
Finally, they managed to get the girl to fall into a deep sleep.
Li Chu ran downstairs again, grabbed a towel, and came back up to wipe the girl's body.
Seeing that it was already a bit red and swollen, he slapped himself and cursed, "You're a complete beast!"
Then I took a clean towel, wet it with cold water, and applied it to the girl's face.
The towel was too cold, which startled the girl. She muttered, "Stop it, let me sleep for a while." Then she fell silent again.
After getting ready, as soon as they got into bed, Xiao Ding hugged him tightly like a koala.
When he woke up early in the morning, Miss Ding rolled her eyes at him one after another, without saying a word to him, just rolling her eyes at him.
Knowing he was in the wrong, Li Chu didn't dare say anything more and just grinned foolishly.
He ran out excitedly, bought two bowls of braised pork offal, and brought them back.
They didn't let the girl get out of bed, but put a small table on the bed and served her breakfast.
Then he helped the girl get dressed, and his fawning manner finally made her laugh.
The girl tapped his forehead with her finger: "You can't bully me like that anymore."
Li Chu patted his chest and promised, "I assure the Commander-in-Chief that I will never bully you like this again."
His affected manner made the girl laugh out loud.
After getting dressed and going downstairs, Li Chu packed two cans of fruit into his bag, gave his father-in-law a pack of Daqianmen cigarettes, and asked his daughter to give him five jin of yarn coupons, enough for the old couple and his brother-in-law to knit sweaters.
Then the two of them went out. Li Chu rode his bicycle with his wife and headed straight for her parents' home.
