Chapter 236: Venison Again

The woman was wearing an army green uniform, and the two figures seemed to be leaning against each other closely, and the picture looked very warm.

On the way back, Zhang Meng told Gu Mingtai about the monster she encountered in the cave at the bottom of the river.

"Gu Mingtai, I've never understood. You said these spirits have become spirits. Why don't they practice properly? Instead, they do things that are harmful to the world and morality. Isn't this damaging their own merits?"

Gu Mingtai was riding his bicycle when he heard the little woman behind him say something. He curled his lips and said, "I think they have thought about cultivating themselves and becoming immortals before, but the spiritual energy in this world is getting less and less. It's impossible for ordinary monsters to cultivate themselves and become immortals. I guess they are just going to give up."

"Anyway, I think it's not worth it. I think that catfish monster has been cultivating for more than 500 years. What a pity!"

As soon as Zhang Meng finished speaking, he thought of the white bead that fell out of the catfish monster's body when it died. "Gu Mingtai, do you know what this is?"

Zhang Meng took out the white bead from her backpack, handed it to Gu Mingtai and asked.

Gu Mingtai took a quick look and immediately snatched it away, stuffing it back into Zhang Meng's backpack. "Xiao Meng, don't take this out casually in the future. If someone with ulterior motives sees it, it will bring you unnecessary trouble."

Zhang Meng nodded after hearing him speak so cautiously, and at the same time asked, "Gu Mingtai, do you know what this thing is? What exactly is it? Tell me."

Gu Mingtai continued riding his bicycle, but slowed down a bit. He took a look at it and said, "It's a Yuandan. Most people with cultivation have this Yuandan in their bodies. Your Yuandan is over 500 years old and is more valuable. If a cultivator has it, it can improve their cultivation and advance to the third level or above. This thing can be said to be the most coveted thing for cultivators."

After listening to this, Zhang Meng touched the round object in her backpack, opened her mouth wide, and exclaimed, "I didn't expect this thing to be so powerful. So, Gu Mingtai, is this thing useful to you? I'll give it to you."

Zhang Meng blinked her big eyes and looked at him.

Gu Mingtai glanced back at her. Seeing that she really wanted to give him this extremely precious Yuan Dan, his heart warmed. He smiled softly and said, "No, I don't need this. I want to advance slowly with you."

He didn't want to be the only one who lived forever. He wanted to live forever with this little woman. Even if he couldn't live forever, he would still grow old, get sick and die with her in the future.

Seeing that he really didn't want it, Zhang Meng had no choice but to hold the backpack and said, "Well, since you don't want it, I'll put it aside for now."

"Well, hide it well and don't let anyone else see it. It's such a precious thing, and I'm afraid people's hearts are the easiest to change."

Zhang Meng nodded, "I know, don't worry, I won't let anyone else see it."

The young couple rode their bicycles, talking and laughing, and soon returned to the military area.

Zhang Meng didn't come back last night. As soon as she arrived at the family area, she jumped off her bicycle and ran upstairs.

Standing at the door, gasping for air, Zhang Meng opened the door and called inside, "Grandma, Xiaotao, Xiaohu, we're back."

Xiao Tao and Xiao Hu, who were playing next to each other in the living room, saw their sister Zhang Meng coming back. The two kids excitedly hugged her legs.

"Sister, where did you go last night? Why didn't you come back home to sleep?" Xiao Tao asked with a loving look on his face, holding one of Zhang Meng's legs.

Zhang Meng wanted to answer, but immediately heard Xiaohu's question again.

"Sister Xiaomeng, did something happen to you?" Xiaohu looked at Zhang Meng sensibly and asked.

Zhang Meng's heart softened. She squatted down and hugged them both, then explained to them, "Sister didn't come home last night because she went out to do something. I slept at the home of the man who needed her to do the job."

Xiao Tao nodded immediately. Xiao Hu continued to ask, "Sister Xiao Meng, did you do what that person asked you to do? Do you still want to go out today?"

Xiaohu is probably more sensible and mature because he lived a hard life with his grandmother in the past few years.

However, Zhang Meng felt very distressed about Xiaohu. He was obviously just a child of six or seven years old, but his thoughts were like those of an adult.

"It's all done. You don't have to go out anymore. Today, tomorrow, and in the future, I will stay with you and grandma in this house."

"That's great." Xiao Tao jumped and danced with joy.

After coaxing the two little guys and throwing them to Gu Mingtai who came in, Zhang Meng hurried into the kitchen and saw Grandma Zhang busy cooking in the kitchen.

Looking at Grandma Zhang's busy figure, Zhang Meng smiled and walked behind her, hugged her, and whispered in her ear, "Grandma, guess who I am to you?"

Grandma Zhang smiled, without turning around, and simply said, "My granddaughter who is away from home."

Zhang Meng laughed out loud, released Grandma Zhang's waist, walked over to her, opened the pot with the lid on, and immediately the aroma of meat wafted into her nose. Zhang Meng's eyes lit up immediately, "It's venison, Grandma, where did you get it?"

Grandma Zhang said, "I don't know who dumped it at our doorstep again. Just this morning, when I opened the door, I saw a recently dead deer lying on our doorstep."

"Liu Fenfang saw it and sympathized with me, an old lady, who couldn't handle the deer, so she came to help me. Your three good friends also came over. Grandma finally gave them two pounds of venison each, and gave the rest to our family. We still have quite a bit left, and it's in the wooden basin now."
