Chapter 322 Entering the Thieves' Den

Every time he was sent to a family by his subordinates, those people would treat him well at first, but later when they saw that he would not grow up and had strange teeth, they thought he was a monster and tried every means to throw him away and send him away.

"Why don't you reply to me? Are you really feeling unwell?"

Seeing that he was just staring at her with tears in his eyes, Zhang Meng became even more anxious.

Xiao Zhuang suddenly buried his face in her arms, "Don't worry, Mom. I'm not hurt. I'm fine. Mom, can you promise me that you will be this good to me from now on? Okay?"

Zhang Meng looked down at the little guy in her arms. When she heard him say he wasn't hurt, she breathed a sigh of relief. She hugged him tightly and said with a smile, "Okay, I'll treat you well from now on."

After hugging the big and the small for a while, Zhang Meng realized that there was no one around them.

"Where is Gu Mingtai? Where is Youhui? Where did they go?" Zhang Meng turned around to look for people.

The little zombie raised his head from her arms and said, "Mom, you don't have to look for them. They are not here. You have lost them."

Zhang Meng was stunned for a moment, then clenched her hands and said, "It's okay, if we get separated, we'll go find them."

Having said that, Zhang Meng glanced at the big backpack on her body. It was filled with magic weapons prepared for them by Qingyuan and his people, all of which were placed with her.

Thinking of this, Zhang Meng prayed silently in her heart, hoping that they who had no magic weapons could wait safely for her to come.

After thinking about this, Zhang Meng looked at the endless yellow sand with a worried look on his face. "Where is this place? There's not even a single person or house! How are we going to find anyone?"

Xiao Zhuang took her hand, looked around, and said with a frown, "Mom, I think I know where this is. It's the Yellow Springs Road. It's very dangerous here. You have to be careful."

After a pause, Xiao Zhuang continued, "But don't worry, Xiao Zhuang will protect Mommy."

Zhang Meng was delighted when she heard these heartwarming words. She reached out and touched his rosy cheek, "Thank you!"

The little zombie immediately grinned and said proudly, "You're welcome, Mom."

At this time, a strange wind blew up, and then what seemed to be daytime in front of them turned into evening in the blink of an eye.

Zhang Meng secretly cried out inwardly, "Oh no!" She quickly held Xiao Zhuang's hand with one hand and the large backpack with the other, saying, "We can't stay here any longer. Let's get out of here quickly."

Just as she said she was going to leave, Zhang Meng stopped again because the scenery all around her was the same and she really didn't know which way to go.

The little zombie sniffed and suddenly pointed eastward with his short hand, "Mom, let's go that way."

Zhang Meng looked down at Xiao Zhuang, and after a moment of hesitation, she gritted her teeth and said, "Okay, I'll listen to Xiao Zhuang. Let's go that way."

Two heads, one big and one small, slowly walked towards the east with the crescent moon that had already emerged on their heads.

There was ankle-deep yellow sand under their feet. After walking for a long time, the two of them finally arrived at a house that looked like one from ancient times.

"Xiao Zhuang, that's great. There's a house here. We can stay here for one night. When it gets light, we'll continue looking for people."

The little zombie squinted his eyes and looked at the house, his eyes full of wariness. Just as Zhang Meng was about to walk in, he suddenly reached out and pulled her, "Mom, this house is located a little strangely here. Let's not go in."

Zhang Meng turned around and patted his cheek. "I know it's a little strange for this place to be here, but it's already night. I can still get by alone outside, but you can't. You're still a child, you need a place to shelter from the wind. Listen to me, at worst we just have to be careful after we go in."

Xiao Zhuang listened with a look of profound emotion. At this moment, Zhang Meng, holding his hand, had already walked inside.

It was dark outside, but bright inside.

As soon as she came in, Zhang Meng looked around this unusually bright and luxurious house. Her heart was in turmoil and she subconsciously held Xiao Zhuang's hand tighter.

"Oh, it turns out there are two guests here. Please sit down. What would you like to eat?"

At this time, a woman with skin as white as snow came out from the second floor.

However, Zhang Meng didn't think that just because someone was good-looking, they were kind-hearted. She looked at her upstairs with even more caution and said, "Madam, we're just passing by here. It's getting dark outside, and we'd like to stay here for the night. Is that okay?"

The woman was wearing a simple yellow long brocade dress with three beautiful flowers embroidered on the hem with red silk thread.

She walked down slowly and gracefully.

"So you're here to stay? Fine, but I have a rule. Anyone who enters my room must have a meal here, and I'll offer you the soup. You must drink it all, and you can't leave a single sip for me."

Zhang Meng's brows immediately furrowed when she heard the word "soup." "Well, we don't eat anything. We brought our own food with us."

The woman's face turned extremely ugly, and her expression became a little ferocious. "Since you don't want to eat or drink the things in my shop, why bother coming in!"

The little zombie snorted softly, "Do you think we want to come in? If it weren't dark outside, we wouldn't want to come into your den of thieves."

Zhang Meng quickly covered Xiao Zhuang's mouth and shook her head at him.

At this moment, the woman suddenly burst into laughter. "This is a den of thieves. That's right, this is a den of thieves, isn't it? Since you've entered my den of thieves, don't leave. I see that you are not ghosts. Each of you has half a corpse. It's just right that there is not much meat left in my soup. You can come and make up the number."

As soon as she finished speaking, the shawl on the woman's body flew towards Zhang Meng and Xiao Jiang.

Seeing this, Zhang Meng frowned, picked up the little zombie and hid away.

The shawl that failed to catch them suddenly stopped in mid-air.

The woman sneered, "I never thought a mere human like you could dodge my scarf. It seems you're not a simple person. If that's the case, I can't let you leave here."

As soon as she stopped talking, the shawl suspended in the air flew towards Zhang Meng again.
