Chapter 365: Recruiting a Disciple

Tang Yiyi snorted softly, then sighed, "I have no choice. If I wasn't stronger, Zhang Lihua would have moved in. She forced me to do this."

She used to be such a gentle and weak girl, but now she has become a woman who will go up and quarrel with others without any fear.

Thinking about this change, even she almost didn't recognize herself.

The two women were chatting when Gu Mingtai, who had just finished washing the dishes in the kitchen, came out. Tang Yiyi, who was talking, stopped talking immediately when she saw Gu Mingtai. The expression on her face was like a mouse seeing a cat, shrinking back timidly.

"Um, Sister Xiao Meng, I seem to remember that the dishes at home haven't been washed yet. I'll go back and wash them first. We can talk about it another day. I'm going back now. Bye."

After saying these words in one breath, Tang Yiyi ran out of the Gu family's gate as fast as the wind.

Zhang Meng was standing at the door and before she could even say "take care" someone had already walked into the house next door.

Zhang Meng smiled softly, turned around and looked at Gu Mingtai, who looked serious and not scary, and looked left and right.

I couldn't figure out what was so scary about her husband.

Gu Mingtai, who was standing at the kitchen door, raised his eyebrows and asked in confusion, "Why are you staring at me like that?"

After watching for a while, Zhang Meng couldn't figure out anything, so she started pinching his face left and right. "Nothing, I just think your face isn't bad looking. Why do Sister Liu and the others get so scared when they see you, like mice seeing a cat?"

Gu Mingtai said coldly, "That's because they are timid."

Zhang Meng smiled and shook her head.

The couple returned to the room and left half an hour later.

The couple dressed up specially and were about to go out. As soon as they got downstairs, they were stopped by a young man in military uniform.

"Gu Ying, I'm so sorry. The commander knows you've been on leave these past few days, but he had a very important mission coming up, so he had no choice but to ask me to come over and ask you to come over to discuss the mission."

The young soldier who stopped them gave a sermon with an apologetic look on his face.

When Zhang Meng heard this, he immediately said to Gu Mingtai, "Gu Mingtai, since the army has something to ask you, go and do your own thing. I can go by myself to thank them. You don't have to accompany me."

Gu Mingtai raised his eyebrows, "Can you do it alone?"

Zhang Meng glanced at the young soldier who turned his head away and said with a blushing face, "Of course I can do it. It's not a difficult task. Besides, I, your wife, can even exorcise ghosts, so why can't I do something as simple as this?"

Seeing that his young wife seemed a little angry, Gu Mingtai touched his nose and said, "Okay, go by yourself, be careful."

Zhang Meng nodded, "I know."

After seeing them off, Zhang Meng left the military area carrying a backpack.

After walking for half an hour, we took a ox cart from a nearby villager and arrived in town an hour later.

After getting off the ox cart, Zhang Meng forced fifty cents into the cart despite the villagers' refusal, and then walked towards Mayor Chen's house, supporting her sore butt.

Coincidentally, as soon as she arrived downstairs at Mayor Chen's house, she ran into Mrs. Chen who was coming back from buying groceries.

"Comrade Zhang, it's really you! Are you coming to my house?" Mrs. Chen asked excitedly, grabbing Zhang Meng's arm.

Zhang Meng smiled at her and nodded, "Hello, Madam Chen. I heard from my grandmother that you and Mayor Chen came to my house to look for me and my husband the day before yesterday. I'm so sorry. We were out for something a few days ago and only came back yesterday."

Mrs. Chen smiled and said, "Thank you for coming all the way here. My husband and I came a few days ago to thank you and your wife for saving our lives, but we didn't expect you to be away, so we left the gifts here. We had been thinking of finding time to come and thank you in a couple of days."

Zhang Meng smiled along.

Mrs. Chen turned around and immediately looked at Zhang Meng and asked, "Comrade Zhang, why didn't Comrade Gu come this time?"

Zhang Meng smiled and explained simply, "He had something to do, so he didn't come with us."

Mrs. Chen nodded. "So that's how it is. It's okay. Let's go back to the house and talk."

Zhang Meng smiled and nodded, then, with Mrs. Chen's enthusiastic arm in arm, she went upstairs to the house.

After opening the door, Zhang Meng immediately smelled the fragrance of flowers in the Chen family's house.

Sure enough, as soon as she walked in, she found that there were many blooming flowers in the Chen family's house.

"The smell of the green liquid was so bad last time that we had no choice but to buy more flowers to get rid of the smell."

When Mrs. Chen came over with tea, she saw Zhang Meng staring at the flowers, so she explained.

As Zhang Meng drank her tea, Mrs. Chen, who was sitting next to her, began to tell her what happened next. "After my husband Chen woke up, he immediately went to the address you left and found a pile of human bones there. But to avoid trouble, my husband Chen announced that there were man-eating fish in the river and that the missing girls were eaten by them."

Having said this, Mrs. Chen suddenly swallowed and stammered.

Zhang Meng was drinking tea. Seeing her like this, she smiled and asked, "Mrs. Chen, if you have anything to say, just say it!"

Mrs. Chen laughed sheepishly, rubbing her hands together and asking, "Comrade Zhang, did you kill the ghost that possessed my husband?"

Zhang Meng was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "Of course I killed it. What's the point of keeping a ghost like this that harms people, don't you think?"

Mrs. Chen immediately breathed a sigh of relief, and her smile brightened again. "It's better to be dead, it's better to be dead. This kind of evil ghost should be cut into pieces."

After chatting here for half an hour, Zhang Meng declined Mrs. Chen's invitation to stay for dinner.

Just as Zhang Meng walked out of the street and was worrying about how to get back, she suddenly heard a voice calling her name from behind.

After a while, a car stopped beside her. When the window was rolled down, Wang Qingliu's figure came into Zhang Meng's sight.

"Why are you here? How did you appear here?" Zhang Meng asked in surprise when she saw it was him.

"I'm doing something nearby. If you want to go back, I'll take you there."

Zhang Meng was worried about not having a car to ride, so when she heard what he said, she immediately opened the car door and got in.

The car drove quietly on the road for a while. Wang Qingliu, who had been holding it in for a long time, coughed deliberately. "Um, is it true what you said last time that Brother Gu wanted to take me as his apprentice?" Zhang Meng glanced at him. "If this is true, what are you going to do?"

Wang Qingliu coughed lightly again, "If it's true, then I can reluctantly accept Brother Gu as my master."

When Zhang Meng heard this and saw that he looked awkward, she immediately burst out laughing.
