Chapter 47 Soul-Eating Gu

The box on the bed was a perfectly ordinary one. Zhang Meng looked at it for a moment, then opened it with a mixture of trepidation and curiosity.

Inside was something white with green. After looking at it for a while, Zhang Meng saw that it had not moved since it was opened. She reached out to touch it curiously, and it was soft and a little cold.

After holding it in the palm of his hand and looking at it for a while, Zhang Meng became more and more certain that this thing was a worm. However, for some reason, it looked like it was sleeping and didn't move at all.

At this moment, she suddenly remembered what Old Man Miao said before he left, that he would use her blood to feed the worm.

After hesitating for a while, Zhang Meng got off the bed, took a pair of scissors from the table, gritted her teeth and stabbed it into the flesh. Two drops of bright red blood came out from her fingers.

In order not to waste the blood on his finger, Zhang Meng quickly moved the first drop of blood to the insect's mouth when it fell.

Then something strange happened in front of her eyes. The insect that seemed to be asleep just now suddenly moved, and its body slowly squirmed segment by segment, making people unconsciously get goose bumps all over their body.

There was a sound of something heavy falling to the floor in the room.

Zhang Meng turned around and looked around, and found that the cloth bag she had placed on the table at night had fallen to the ground, and now the cloth bag was still moving around.

Zhang Meng got off the bed and picked up the bag, and found that it was the baby spirit inside that was bumping against the bag impatiently.

"Sister, let me out, I'm scared." Just as Zhang Meng was looking at the bag, a child's voice suddenly came from inside.

Suddenly, there was a voice in the room, which would scare anyone. Zhang Meng was no exception. She almost threw the bag in her hand away.

Fortunately, she finally managed to control herself. She stared at the bag intently, "Are you the baby spirit? Are you the one speaking?"

Not long after she finished asking, the child's voice came from the bag again, "Yes, I am the baby spirit. Sister, I feel so uncomfortable. Can you please let me out? I can't bear it anymore. I feel like my soul is going to fly away."

As soon as he finished speaking, a child's scream was heard from inside.

Zhang Meng, who was not a cruel person to begin with, was so frightened when she heard the miserable cry of a child that she opened the bag without thinking.

As the bag was loosened, she clearly felt a white light flying out from it.

Then a child who looked like a student just walked stood on the ground.

"It hurts so much, my head hurts so much, sister, what's in your room? It makes my head hurt so much." The baby spirit rolled on the ground with a headache.

Zhang Meng was frightened by his behavior and was at a loss. "I didn't do anything. Please don't scare me. What's wrong with you?"

Just as she squatted down to see what happened to the baby spirit, a white object jumped past her and landed on the baby spirit.

The baby rolling on the ground screamed even more miserably, banging its body against the ground with all its might, yelling, "Sister, it hurts so much, please save me, quickly take this soul-eating Gu off me, I'm scared, I'm scared."

Zhang Meng then realized that it was because of the bug she had just taken out of the box. She was so scared that she quickly stepped forward, grabbed the bug that had jumped on him, and held it tightly in her palm.

Not long after, the baby spirit on the ground finally got up from the ground, exhausted, and glanced at her hand holding the insect with a frightened look.

"Are you okay?" Seeing a child who was only about one year old standing unsteadily on the ground, Zhang Meng felt really sorry for him and quickly turned her face away to avoid being soft-hearted and going up to help the child.

"Sister." The little baby spirit looked at Zhang Meng with a look of grievance. Zhang Meng took a deep breath and told herself to be careful, reminding herself that the child in front of her was a baby spirit and still had resentment.

"If you have something to say, just say it. Stop calling me that. I'm telling you, no matter how many times you call me sister, I won't let you hurt anyone else again." Zhang Meng looked at him with a firm expression.

The infant spirit lowered its head sadly, "Sister, I won't seek revenge. I've already taken revenge on that woman. I'm content."

After hearing what he said, Zhang Meng looked up and found that the baby spirit that came out this time didn't seem as scary as before.

"Then what do you want to do? Do you want me to send you to reincarnate? You didn't get to see the world in your previous life, so this time you can be reborn into a good one and take a good look at this wonderful world outside."

"No, I won't reincarnate, sister, I want to follow you, can I?"

The little baby spirit stared at her with a longing expression. Zhang Meng felt a chill run down her spine when she was stared at like that by a baby spirit. She smiled awkwardly and refused, "No, you're a spirit, I'm human. You're no use following me. Just listen to me. I'll have the ghost messengers from the underworld find you a good family, and you can just go in and be thrown into it."

"But I can't bear to leave you, my sister." The little baby spirit bit his lips and looked at her reluctantly.

Seeing that the little guy wouldn't be persuaded no matter how hard he tried, Zhang Meng got anxious, "Hey, why are you so stubborn, little guy?"

The little baby spirit chuckled, took two short steps, and suddenly stopped. Looking at the hand holding the insect, a look of fear appeared on the baby's face. "Sister, that's a Soul-Eating Gu in your hand. It's very powerful. Can you please keep it? I'm afraid of it."

Zhang Meng looked down at the insect in her hand, and only then did she realize that this insect actually had such a domineering name.

"You said it was a soul-eating Gu!"

The little baby spirit nodded vigorously, "Yes, this is one of the nemesis of our spirits. Sister, how did you get this thing?"

Zhang Meng frowned and glanced at her clenched fist. She never expected that Old Man Miao would give her such a good thing.

"Sister." Seeing that Zhang Meng didn't answer, the little baby spirit called out to her softly.

Zhang Meng came back to her senses and said, "Someone gave it to me."

"What should we do with this thing now? It seems to be alive. Will it suffocate to death if I put it back in the box?" Zhang Meng now regretted using blood to activate the insect.

Just as she finished her words, the soul-eating insect in her hand suddenly became motionless again. What was even more strange was that a silk thread suddenly appeared in its mouth.

"This, this thing can actually spin silk?" Zhang Meng pulled the silk thread it spit out and found that it couldn't be broken no matter how hard he pulled.

The little baby spirit standing nearby looked at her with disdain, but was afraid of this nemesis, so it had to stand far away and remind her, "Sister, this Soul-Eating Gu means you wear it on your hand."

After the little baby spirit mentioned this, Zhang Meng suddenly realized that the silk it spit out seemed to be as long as a bracelet.

"Haha, so that's what it means. This bug is quite smart. It actually came up with such a good idea for me." Zhang Meng happily put it on her hand.

You know what, when she wore it on her hand, it was like wearing a bracelet with stones strung on it. No one would have thought that she was wearing a soul-eating insect that could eat spirits.
