Chapter 106 The Coffin, the Black Worm

“How did we get here? If I told them, they wouldn’t believe me; they’d think I was lying.”

An ordinary person can safely walk out of a treacherous, well-like staircase.

Either their teammates are strong, or they have some good fortune.

Lin Chuchu glanced back at the three kidnappers, let out a cold snort, and decided she still believed in luck.

After a while, they still hadn't opened the stone door. Lin Chuchu grew a little impatient and went forward to join them in watching.

The stone gate is carved with intricate patterns, including dragons and phoenixes.

Lin Chuchu's heart tightened. Could it be the tomb of an emperor and empress from some dynasty? If so, there must be many valuable dowry items inside.

No, we can't let them get these things; they're national treasures!

Lin Chuchu's mind raced, and she pretended to kick the stone door.

"What a piece of junk! All that effort for nothing..."

Before Lin Chuchu could finish speaking, the stone door rumbled and slowly opened upwards.

Amidst the shocked gazes of the crowd, Lin Chuchu put her foot down. "I didn't expect the Stone Gate to recognize people. Sure enough, people like you who came back from abroad are useless at everything."

Lin Chuchu proudly raised her head, turned around, and went back to the back.

Ugh, why is she so impulsive? Why did she go up there for no reason?

The others simply attributed it to good luck.

The stone door was opened, but it was still a corridor.

A rotten, musty smell reached my nostrils.

Lin Chuchu tore a piece of cloth from her clothes and covered her mouth and nose.

Liu Er sneered at her, "You think you're tomb raiding? There are only dead people inside, what are you afraid of ghosts seeing?"

Lin Chuchu didn't speak, not wanting to pay them any attention.

She's afraid of inhaling toxic fumes. Even though the fabric is thin, it might still be effective.

The kidnapper leader looked at Chen Long and said, "We're all in this together now. If something happens to us, you won't survive either."

So... please!

The kidnapper leader's ambiguous smile made Lin Chuchu sense that something was off about him.

The kidnappers actually begged the hostage?

It's probably because Chen Long is a soldier, so they wanted him to scout ahead.

Lin Chuchu was still placed in the middle by them, seemingly for protection, but also for surveillance.

The corridor was very quiet, and it was made of stone from top to bottom, making it very solid and without any gaps.

Everyone became even more cautious.

Just then, a loud roar suddenly came from ahead.

"Watch out, get down."

The group moved incredibly fast, dropping to the ground in the blink of an eye. Lin Chuchu felt something grazed her scalp as it flew past. Then, the leader behind her let out a scream.

He was a little slow and his arm was bumped.

Lin Chuchu turned around and saw that it was an axe.

The axe was embedded deep into a doorpost on one side of the stone gate, and it looked extremely sharp.

"I'm not playing anymore, I want to go home, damn it, it's too scary."

Liu Er muttered to himself, his eyes filled with terror.

Who would have thought that an ancient tomb buried underground would contain such a mechanism?

The kidnapper leader was injured, but fortunately, it was just a minor injury from being hit by an axe handle.

Compared to the third brother's nervousness, the kidnapper leader spoke calmly and looked indifferent.

He handed the gun in his hand to the third brother.

Lin Chuchu could tell that the three of them were only superficially friendly; the third brother and the eldest brother were in cahoots, the kind who could back each other down.

Liu Er was a henchman, someone who needed to be guarded against, yet someone who was also expected to be the vanguard.

Lin Chuchu couldn't help but smile. If the three of them had stayed together, she might not have had a chance, but now...

Perhaps she and Chen Long can actually stop people from taking the national treasure away.

Chen Long was always in front, so she didn't have a chance to get close yet, but she believed there would definitely be a time when she could speak.

At this moment, Lin Chuchu was no longer worried. Before, she was the one who desperately wanted to survive; now it was their turn to be anxious.

They continued moving forward after quite a while, but were much more cautious than before.

Then they passed through an underground trap, and the third brother almost fell in. The road ahead became much easier, and they didn't encounter any more danger.

Finally, they reached the end of the corridor, and everyone was even more nervous than when they were climbing the stairs.

As the kidnapper leader passed by Lin Chuchu, he paused. No one expected that the weakest of them all, Lin Chuchu, would be completely unharmed.

He was even considering whether to change personnel if there was another opportunity to explore the route.

Oh right, and Liu Er too. I didn't expect that big, clumsy guy to be uninjured either.

He didn't stop walking, passing Lin Chuchu and continuing forward.

Ahead was an even more open space, in the middle of which was a huge coffin. Upon closer inspection, the coffin was suspended in mid-air and locked with several iron chains.

Even more shockingly, the coffin was surrounded by burial objects, some of which were clearly gold, silver and jade artifacts. Their luster had faded, replaced by a sense of timelessness.

Everyone snapped out of their shock, and the third brother was the first to rush over.

"Haha, we've struck it rich, boss, we've struck it rich."

The eldest brother's eyes were also full of surprise. He walked up to a vase, wanting to pick it up, but seemed afraid of breaking it. He wanted to touch it but dared not. When Liu Er saw those things, he seemed to be dumbfounded, staring at them and grinning foolishly.

All three of them lost their composure. Lin Chuchu shook her head and didn't move forward. Instead, she walked to Chen Long's side and whispered.

"Comrade Chen, Comrade Chen..."

Lin Chuchu called out twice from the corner, and Chen Long finally came to his senses.

Seeing him regain his senses with a dazed look, Lin Chuchu stared at the three of them and pouted, "We'll find a way to control them later, preferably make them kill each other. We absolutely cannot let them take these things away."
