Two days later, the researchers, who were busy with their own work, suddenly heard a sound, a little quieter than a bomb.
The researchers stared in astonishment at the direction from which the sound came—it was the office of Tian Houlin and his two companions.
A piercing alarm sounded, and a group of soldiers in military uniforms, armed with live ammunition, suddenly rushed into the research room.
A soldier stepped forward, shielding all the researchers behind him, and pointed his gun at the research office.
After a while, the door opened from the inside, and a figure came out. It was Lin Chuchu, with her hair in an afro and her face covered in black. When she looked at the soldiers, her eyes immediately filled with tears.
It was as if they had suffered a tremendous injustice.
"Waaah, isn't it said that women's hair won't get damaged when they do research? My hair is all burnt."
Lin Chuchu felt wronged and helpless. Why was she the one who got hurt when she encountered two crazy researchers?
The old professor walked over with concern, like a worried old father, "What are they doing? Why did it explode? Are you hurt?"
After saying that, he immediately looked Lin Chuchu up and down, and only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that she was not injured.
The soldier stepped forward and asked, "Comrade Lin, are they alright? May we go in now?"
Unless it involves the researcher's life safety, military personnel are not allowed to enter the researcher's office at will.
Seeing Lin Chuchu's condition, they figured the other two were probably alright, so they weren't in a hurry to go in.
Lin Chuchu nodded. "They're fine. The explosion happened because they messed up the wiring during the research."
Upon hearing that everything was alright, Tian and Hou's master walked over, his face ashen, and went into the office ahead of the soldiers.
A series of loud crashes and a man's screams came from inside.
Other older researchers looked on with sympathy; anyone would be driven crazy by having two such troublesome apprentices.
Although his apprentice is a bit slow, at least he doesn't cause trouble.
Lin Chuchu lamented her hair while gleefully watching the office doorway.
"Teacher, who invented the idea of making these two partners? They're geniuses!"
"The Crouching Dragon and the Young Phoenix, tormenting each other to avoid harming others, tsk tsk, one is recklessly courting death on the road of research, while the other is helping to clean up the mess and also desperately saving lives, truly... the best partners."
Lin Chuchu said with emotion, and everyone couldn't help but stifle their laughter. Even the four masters and disciples who came out of the office were speechless.
The old professor slapped Lin Chuchu on the back of the head, his face darkening. His once sensible and obedient student had become unlike herself.
Oh no, Tian Hou and his companion are poisonous. Anyone who gets close to them is doomed.
"You're practically forming an inseparable trio with them, so don't follow their example."
Lin Chuchu wailed and roared, "Master, I don't want to be like them. Is it too late for me to quit now?"
She had been influenced without even realizing it? She didn't want to; it was too embarrassing.
Researcher Tian looked at Lin Chuchu with teary eyes, "Comrade Lin, you can't quit. The Iron Triangle can't do without you."
Researcher Hou, who was a step behind, was exasperated. Whose partner was causing trouble from time to time?
At that moment, the thought of changing partners resurfaced in his mind.
He went up and kicked her.
"Ouch~~ Little monkey, why did you kick me?"
Researcher Hou clenched his fists, making a cracking sound, and narrowed his eyes dangerously.
"Thank Comrade Lin and apologize. If she hadn't persuaded you to lower the experimental data, I wouldn't have been able to save you in time. We would both have died with you. Quickly thank her."
Upon hearing this, Researcher Tian silently walked up to Lin Chuchu and bowed at a ninety-degree angle, saying, "Comrade Lin, thank you, and I'm sorry."
He really didn't do it on purpose; he just thought it should be fine.
Lin Chuchu pointed her finger at his shoulder, saying angrily, "Even the most skilled researcher has to listen to advice and can't be stubborn. Besides, you're not the most skilled researcher."
"You won't suddenly decide to increase the dosage next time, will you? Wouldn't you end up razing the lab to the ground?"
This was her first time encountering such a dangerous research project, and she didn't want to risk her life again.
Researcher Hou stood to the side with his arms crossed, watching Researcher Tian obediently accept the scolding. He knew in his heart that the other party did not take it to heart at all and would dare to do it again next time.
The leading soldier broke out in a cold sweat. He hadn't expected that after so many screenings, an accident would still happen.
If a large-scale explosion were to occur, he would be held responsible to the death.
Most importantly, these researchers are treasures of China, and absolutely nothing can happen to them.
No, we still need to do a thorough screening when we get back. Anything that's even slightly dangerous can't be kept in the lab.
"Comrades, how about I set up your experiment outdoors?"
Before Researcher Tian could say anything more, Researcher Hou covered his mouth.
"Let's move, we'll move."
The news of the explosion at the research project quickly spread throughout the base, and Lin Chuchu even felt that no matter where she went, she was met with mocking glances.
I'm speechless.
The three of them couldn't use the lab for the time being, so they were given the afternoon off. Lin Chuchu didn't want to face the two of them, so she simply left the base with her guards and wandered around the neighborhood.
Who would have thought that such a militarized base was hidden in the martyrs' cemetery beneath the deserted city?
The martyrs who protected the country in life and the researchers who protected the country after death, watching the country grow stronger and become a nation that no one dares to bully, must have felt gratified.
They picked many flowers in the mountains and placed one in front of the martyrs' tombstone.
Occasionally, she would stop and gaze quietly at the inscription on the monument.
