Lin Chuchu sat in the passenger seat and glanced back at the people in the back seats.
Lin Chuchu felt embarrassed for them.
Researcher Tian happened to sit between Tang Xin and Zhou Lichen, and Tang Xin often looked at Zhou Lichen with a shy expression.
Every now and then he'll say something like he's carsick and wants to know if there's any candy, which is just nonsense.
But Zhou Lichen ignored her and eventually closed his eyes to rest, ignoring everyone.
Researcher Tian sat there as if he had been pricked in the butt with a needle, and looked to Researcher Hou for help, only to find that Researcher Hou was resting with his eyes closed.
Lin Chuchu was relieved that she hadn't sat in the back, or she would have been mortified.
Lin Chuchu was about to look away when she realized that Zhou Lichen had opened his eyes at some point and was looking at her in the rearview mirror.
Lin Chuchu immediately sat up straight and looked straight ahead, not daring to look around carelessly.
The car arrived at the base amidst this eerie atmosphere.
Lin Chuchu got out of the car and walked quickly inside with her bodyguard.
It was working hours, and there weren't many people at the base. Researchers Tian and Hou followed behind, leaving Tang Xin and Zhou Lichen to handle the formalities.
Seeing the group ahead walking quickly, Tang Xin didn't say anything. She also felt awkward because what happened in the car made it difficult for her to get along with them.
She was afraid that Lin Chuchu would target her again, but it was good that Zhou Lichen was there.
"Comrade Zhou, shall we get to know the area together?"
Zhou Lichen shook his head and refused, "Sorry, our security levels are different. Besides, we're here to work. We'll get to know each other in a few days."
Aren't the levels of confidentiality different? Zhou Lichen is a researcher, and Tang Xin is an assistant. Places he can go, Tang Xin may not be able to go.
After saying that, Zhou Lichen turned and left, leaving Tang Xin alone, seething with hatred.
The unfavorable start left her feeling frustrated.
Since she didn't need to go to the research lab in the morning, Lin Chuchu put her things away and rested on the bed for a while.
At noon, when it was lunchtime, Lin Chuchu's bodyguard came to call her to eat.
As Lin Chuchu stepped out of the room, she saw Tang Xin and her bodyguard.
Lin Chuchu looked at the guard with a puzzled expression.
The guard shrugged and said in a low voice, "She lives next door to you."
After all, there were only two women in the research lab, Lin Chuchu and Tang Xin, and they thought that living close by would allow them to look after each other.
Lin Chuchu was speechless. She wondered who came up with this idea. No one could do something like this without having suffered a stroke for thirty years.
Oh well, she can't control what her boss thinks. She'll just avoid him in the future.
Upon seeing Lin Chuchu, Tang Xin greeted her happily.
"Sister Chuchu, are you going to the cafeteria for lunch too? Let's eat together!"
Lin Chuchu sighed, a smile appearing on her face. "Okay!"
Anyone can pretend; it's just a matter of who can pretend better.
The two chatted and laughed as they arrived at the cafeteria, where they found themselves clearly divided into two groups.
One group was dressed in military uniforms, and the other group was dressed in white coats.
Tang Xin felt that the white coat looked really cool and believed that she would be able to wear a white coat soon.
Lin Chuchu smiled and said, "Just get whatever you want to eat and as much as you want. I'll go get the food now."
As he spoke, he and his guards took their lunchboxes and headed towards the main hall.
Tang Xin, however, did not rush. Instead, she walked up to the researchers and began to introduce herself.
In her view, the older the person, the higher their official position, so she went straight to the senior researchers.
The veteran researchers had a habit of chatting while eating, but when they saw the unfamiliar young girl approaching, they all stopped talking and looked at Tang Xin with puzzled expressions.
Tang Xin finished her self-satisfied presentation, only to find that no one wanted to listen. An old researcher smiled and said...
"Young lady, we are all researchers. We don't do those fancy things. We just need to work hard."
Tang Xin stood frozen on the spot. Shouldn't a workplace usually have a welcome party or something?
She glanced at the others and realized that no one was paying attention to what she had just said.
Her resume was nothing to be judged by this group of people.
Everyone else has a better resume than hers.
For a young girl who has just arrived, her main focus should be on studying.
Seeing her at a loss, Lin Chuchu felt incredibly embarrassed.
Lin Chuchu and her bodyguard had barely sat down when Researcher Tian and Researcher Hou sat down next to them, filling the table to capacity.
This forced Tang Xin, who had just returned from getting her food, to find another place to sit and not dare to come closer.
Actually, she would have preferred to sit next to Zhou Lichen, but unfortunately, Zhou Lichen was already seated with his bodyguard and Tian Hou's bodyguard, so there was no room left.
Zhou Lichen did this on purpose; he didn't want that woman to come closer.
Researcher Tian looked at Tang Xin curiously and asked, "What's wrong with her? Isn't it bad to disturb people while they're eating?"
Researcher Hou took a bite of his food and scoffed, "What else could it be? To introduce myself, of course? To get others' attention."
If you want to take a shortcut, get rid of your assistant status as soon as possible and get promoted to researcher.
Researcher Tian's eyes widened. "She's really bold. Isn't she afraid of backfiring?"
He remembered that when Lin Chuchu came, she immediately joined the work, working diligently and conscientiously. She never made a mistake in any of the tasks she took on.
The group of senior researchers had a very good impression of Lin Chuchu; she was capable and had a calm personality, which is why Lin Chuchu was able to get involved in research work so quickly.
Who knows!
Researcher Hou shrugged. He disliked such superficial people the most and hated those who wanted to take shortcuts.
